One day I will upgrade my lifestyle to one that does not rely upon a laundromat and granny cart! |
|
Mon. 8/6/12 9:53am
DCE:
ah, but you are so cute pushing the granny cart down the avenue. don't take that away from the citizens!

Mon. 8/6/12 9:54am
BenG:
Sorry you had a rough day at the laundromat. Loved the way you channeled it. Such is art.

still b/p:
A former girlfriend just reported yesterday she took delivery of a new washer after enduring the laundromat zone for a few weeks to get her and her kids stuff done, and I was thinking of some kind of Laundromat Diaries....which, as I see and we could predict, is already out there.

BSI:
Back in the '80s when my neighborhood was a bit scrappier (mt.pleasant, DC), I used to have to physically sit on the dryer while my stuff was in, to prevent "disgraceful types" from stealing my clothes in mid-dry. Those were the days.

Visibly reading a copy of Nietzsche's BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL also might have helped... as a vibe deterrent...?

just can't do your laundry on Saturdays/sundays. it's the busiest/worst day to go to a laundromat.

u are too nice. she already used her "i was waiting for this one" card on the large machine. but she knew the bully-route was the only way to get her injustice accomplished.

Sometime around 1990 I was collecting laundromat stories like that for a deep ambient cassette release. It never happened, but I got a ton of stories just like that. Kind of inspired to pick it up again & finish the damned thing...

Sounds hilarious, BSI! |
|
Mon. 8/6/12 10:44am
BSI:
The idea was, take your 1990-era walkman to the laundromat & play this tape, perfectly timed for one load of wash & two loads of dry. A "meditation aid" as it were.

when I go to the laundromat, it's either spanish soap operas or Animal Planet. I've seen this show called "Pitbulls and Parolees" more times than anyone. Certainly no one chooses to watch these shows... ?
|
Mon. 8/6/12 10:59am
BenG:
The laundromat tv is like middle-of-the-night infomercials. Somehow that crap gets into your brain, and lives with you for a lifetime. It must have some kind of Darwinian purpose.

I'm not sure I've even ever heard that super-extended version of the Rockford Files theme. It makes me happy. In a rueful, James Garner sort of way.

Sam:
I always do laundry on weeknights, not only is it less crowded but I don't have to waste my precious weekend time on laundry. I can go out and do things. But laundromats are a drag. The one by me, at least half the machines are always broken, and if you leave for a few minutes the guy has a tendency to close early and lock up with your laundry in there!! What kind of bastard would do that?
