More info on the Floyd record here: en.wikipedia.org... It came out in 1969 (both album and movie.) First I'd seen that there are 2 songs in movie that aren't on album! Never seen the movie, but one of my very favorite Floyd records. |

@12539, yeah, I learned of him in the cassette racks here at WFMU. Columbus Discount re-released that one on LP a couple of years back and I just stumbled on it while purusing the stacks tonight. Gotta love the Nudge. |

Yes, Richard Wright! One of the early great psych organists. 'Ummagumma' has some innovative organ.

@Guy, thinking of Wright a lot this week as it was the anniversary of Syd Barrett's passing. I have always like the few Richard Wright songs, and when he died I went back and paid a lot more attention to the keys. I usually am not much of a fan of keyboards, but he was really a stellar player. Of course he's also on my mind because Jon Lord of Deep Purple just died today. |

Deep Purple - a "guilty pleasure" for a self-styled rock snob like myself. Loved Hush and their take on Kentucky Woman. However, I could live very happilly without ever again hearing Smoke On The Water.

if there weren't already enough reasons to believe wm berger rewlz, this long distance poison release would more than suffice.

If DB thinks a set is weird, you know it is pretty weird (DB - I say that as a compliment, really). I played a track by Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound on my show 2 weeks ago.

Prison Tatt has been releasing some really key pieces. Casey Block from LDP is a longtime friend -- his band Silver Ash was on the show about a year ago, and before that he played with Marc Gartman on the show about 10 years back. There was another project of his too, back about a decade ago. Great guy. Hope his shop Eat Records is back open soon -- if not already? |

It's great! Although it's been pretty darn hot in that upstairs room. But I'm getting back in the groove of taking care of the place. I'm at work right now...but only for 30 more minutes.

Kenzo (lastever):
I Would Die 4 U and Nothing Compares 2 U were both written by Prince. I saw Mariachi el Bronx live a few weeks ago (opening for tUnE-yArDs), they were great fun. The Party, very great plotless device for Peter Sellers, and at that point Sellers probably wasn't yet sick of being typecast as a slapstick comedian. Must go rewatch Being There in his honor. Great archive, Dan!
