You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Hi Dan
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:04pm Dan B:

Hey Davice, welcome
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:07pm duke:

Hi Dan, thanks for blues control
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:08pm Dan B:

@duke, love these guys. I can never get enough of their albums
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:11pm Davice:

There's some Floyd I've never heard - what year?
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:12pm Minnesota Jeff:

OST? What movie is this for?
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:15pm Dan B:

More info on the Floyd record here: en.wikipedia.org... It came out in 1969 (both album and movie.) First I'd seen that there are 2 songs in movie that aren't on album! Never seen the movie, but one of my very favorite Floyd records.
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:17pm 12539:

I haven't heard Squidfish since Bill Berger had his lofi cassette show.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:23pm Dan B:

@12539, yeah, I learned of him in the cassette racks here at WFMU. Columbus Discount re-released that one on LP a couple of years back and I just stumbled on it while purusing the stacks tonight. Gotta love the Nudge.
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:29pm david:

oh to be a fly on the WFMU cassette rack
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:35pm Sven-O:

lover more. speaking of waters, saw "the wall" in philly saturday. what an incredible show. i would go again to quebec ifi could get some floor seats..
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:36pm Sven-O:

*love more
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:40pm Minnesota Jeff:

Is the pit pretty sick at the Waters shows?
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:41pm Guy:

Yes, Richard Wright! One of the early great psych organists. 'Ummagumma' has some innovative organ.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:41pm Dan B:

The skinheads mosh with hammers at the shows, I've heard.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 9:44pm Dan B:

@Guy, thinking of Wright a lot this week as it was the anniversary of Syd Barrett's passing. I have always like the few Richard Wright songs, and when he died I went back and paid a lot more attention to the keys. I usually am not much of a fan of keyboards, but he was really a stellar player. Of course he's also on my mind because Jon Lord of Deep Purple just died today.
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:47pm PB:

Deep Purple - a "guilty pleasure" for a self-styled rock snob like myself. Loved Hush and their take on Kentucky Woman. However, I could live very happilly without ever again hearing Smoke On The Water.
  Mon. 7/16/12 9:58pm PB:

Is that Stephen Hawking doing the non-stop station ID?

Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 10:01pm Dan B:

What a weird set
  Mon. 7/16/12 10:11pm dave:

if there weren't already enough reasons to believe wm berger rewlz, this long distance poison release would more than suffice.
  Mon. 7/16/12 10:19pm PB:

If DB thinks a set is weird, you know it is pretty weird (DB - I say that as a compliment, really). I played a track by Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound on my show 2 weeks ago.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 10:19pm Dan B:

Prison Tatt has been releasing some really key pieces. Casey Block from LDP is a longtime friend -- his band Silver Ash was on the show about a year ago, and before that he played with Marc Gartman on the show about 10 years back. There was another project of his too, back about a decade ago. Great guy. Hope his shop Eat Records is back open soon -- if not already?
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 10:24pm Dan B:

  Mon. 7/16/12 10:24pm PB:

This LDP piece is really interesting. I see on AMG that they had a 2011 release on Thurston Moore's label, Ecstatic Peace!
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 10:31pm Dan B:

They've had 8 releases, 4 of them on cassette tapes.
  Mon. 7/16/12 10:35pm bloopy:

hey bodah r u psyching out tonight
  Mon. 7/16/12 10:47pm bloopy:

i have the biggest DJ crush on jeffrey davison. anyone else?
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 10:48pm Dan B:

@bloopy, yes I am.
  Mon. 7/16/12 10:58pm Meli:

Ahoyhoy, Dan!
Mon. 7/16/12 11:01pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Dan and all the listeners.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:09pm Dan B:

Hey Meli & Richard, welcome!
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:10pm Dan B:

@Meli, how's Shalom House treating you?
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:20pm Dan B:

Black Music Disaster is Matthew Shipp on farfisa organ, Jason Spaceman on electric guitar, Steve Noble on drums, and John Coxon on electric guitar. Quite the group!
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:23pm Meli:

It's great! Although it's been pretty darn hot in that upstairs room. But I'm getting back in the groove of taking care of the place.
I'm at work right now...but only for 30 more minutes.
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:25pm Dan B:

@Meli, one word: AC! I can't make it without AC anymore. I just decided it's like having heat in the winter. You gotta come over and see our new place!
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:25pm Destroit:

Hi everyone. BMD track is great.
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:26pm Meli:

Yeah, I try to use the AC sparingly but I do use it! And yes I must see your new digs!
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:31pm Dan B:

@Destroit, heya - welcome! @Meli, sometimes it's just impossible otherwise. Call S and let us know when you can come stay for a night.
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:32pm Meli:

maybe weds or perhaps friday...
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:32pm Dan B:

OK dear listeners, I am *trying* to bring this set to a close, but I just queued up a track that will be killer on the back of this Peaking Lights, so sorry! I won't be on mic for at least another 7 mins.
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:37pm Meli:

I love playing your sets here at work, because the kids are so confused as to what I could possibly be listening to....
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:38pm Dan B:

Thanks for helping me befuddle the tender Wagnerite minds!
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:40pm Meli:

  Mon. 7/16/12 11:56pm Meli:

Bye Dan, I'll call you guys soon.
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:58pm Ike:

Oh yeah!
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:58pm Dan B:

Ciao Meli!
  Mon. 7/16/12 11:58pm 12539:

Thanks for the long weird sets, Dan!
Avatar Mon. 7/16/12 11:59pm Dan B:

Ciao all! Thanks for listening -- be back next week from Castello Plan with Black Sea Hotel & Hallock Hill!
  Wed. 7/25/12 2:26pm Kenzo (lastever):

I Would Die 4 U and Nothing Compares 2 U were both written by Prince.
I saw Mariachi el Bronx live a few weeks ago (opening for tUnE-yArDs), they were great fun.
The Party, very great plotless device for Peter Sellers, and at that point Sellers probably wasn't yet sick of being typecast as a slapstick comedian. Must go rewatch Being There in his honor.
Great archive, Dan!
