Hep hep it's the jumpin' jive /
Makes you dig your kicks on the Steinski side!
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:05pm kat330:

Yo, on the other side now!
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:05pm Doug Schulkind:

Beam me up, Scotty!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:06pm Matt from Springfield:

Chom/Stein on their skis!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:07pm listener james from westwood:

booyah!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:13pm Holly in NC:

Yo!
Note to @ngh & anyone else who might care -
quick plug for Avira - it's the only product I've ever used that runs nicely in the background, updates daily, & catches *everything* (knock on wood). And it's free! Huge fan.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:14pm kat330:

Mmm, chomping during Chomsky on a messy tomato/cuke/lettuce sandwich. Hands washed off now.
Thanks for the tip, Holly!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:14pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Holly! Free and reliable, just what I need.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:15pm northguineahills:

The McCaffee that came w/ my computer is crap and tries to steer me away from legit sites.
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:15pm Doug Schulkind:

I just installed the freeware ClamXav on my Mac to catch malware and viruses.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:17pm kat330:

Thanks, Doug. I have a PC but Philo has a Mac.
Fri. 7/6/12 12:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Here's to "good timin' ", everybody!!

Smiley Lewis! One of the greatest singers from the "New Orleans scene" of early R&R. He sang the original recording of Dave Bartholomew's "I Hear You Knockin"
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:18pm Carmichael:

@ngh: I had the same problem with McAfee until I upgraded to IE8. Those stupid "whoa!" warnings went away completely.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:18pm kat330:

Anyone else having a volume dingus? I have to turn it down during the speaking parts and back up during the music.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:20pm kat330:

Usually it's the opposite of that, at least the DJ mic bits are so often too soft.
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:20pm Doug Schulkind:

@kat330
The whole show is burned onto a disc, so if there are any inconsistencies with the levels, we are stuck with them. Apologies!
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:22pm kat330:

Gotcha. A nearby button so long as I'm sitting at the keyboard, so no big whup!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:23pm Matt from Springfield:

At least the Drummer stream is normally very loud and clear, much more so than the main stream--so if the sound levels come up low, it usually all works out.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:23pm northguineahills:

I get those McCaffee warnings usually only on Chrome. Firefox, not so much.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:25pm kat330:

"Just a Closer Walk with Thee" -- one of the repertoire of Mom's gospel trio w/autoharp accompaniment. :)
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:26pm kat330:

Right, Matt, loud and clear. Same w/Ichiban. Always have to boost FMU mainstream.
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:27pm Doug Schulkind:

That's because the stream have extra vomp. You can never have enough vomp.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:28pm kat330:

Vomp and blorp, yessiree.
Fri. 7/6/12 12:30pm Matt from Springfield:

New Orleans brass band is providing us all with a Vomp Stomp!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:30pm listener james from westwood:

wfmu: the station with vomp and blorp. —there's your next t-shirt premium
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:31pm Carmichael:

Doug, who put the vomp in the vomp-a-dompa-domp?
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:31pm Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
It was Andy Griffith. What an amazing coincidence.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:34pm kat330:

Under a Bushel, heh! Name of my blog coinkidinkily.
Fri. 7/6/12 12:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Ah, that was Mahalia! Really enjoyed her memories.
Smithsonian Folkways rocks.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:37pm kat330:

Doug, I see how you warmed us all up for Steinski with your last GTDR set. :)
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:39pm northguineahills:

Now that the Lomax collection is now online for streaming (the whole thing, IIRC), I need to check it out.
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:39pm Doug Schulkind:

@kat330
It was completely unconscious, though I'm sure you're right. I previewed Steinski's show earlier this week. It musta stayed in the back of my head.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:41pm kat330:

GTDS, sigh. Wish I didn't have a delayed proofread so often. Annoying.
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:42pm kat330:

Love this! Also the artist's name.
Fri. 7/6/12 12:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Sinner's Rough Mix!
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:44pm kat330:

Got ahead of myself love the prior song, love THIS artist's name.
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 12:44pm Doug Schulkind:

Yay yay!
Fri. 7/6/12 12:47pm listener james from westwood:

kat, "delayed proofread" looks like my work to-do list right now. :D
  Fri. 7/6/12 12:51pm kat330:

@LJfW: Until my semi-retirement and worsening eyesight, proofreading was a good part of my bread and butter. It's a game for young, strong eyes. While once young, my eyes were never strong, sigh.
Fri. 7/6/12 12:57pm Matt from Springfield:

AMEN Sister Mahalia!!
Avatar Fri. 7/6/12 1:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Freeform means never having to apologize for banged-up vinyl.
  Fri. 7/6/12 1:05pm kat330:

Amen, Brother Doug!
Fri. 7/6/12 1:05pm listener james from westwood:

i'm hoping mine go the distance. also that people still pay to have copy proofed!
thanks, doug, and have a safe drive!
Fri. 7/6/12 1:05pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Steinski for this fantastic Stoned Soul Picnic!
Thanks Doug for "re-issuing" this episode!

Have a great trip up in Maine, and we look forward to hearing you back in Jersey City!
  Fri. 7/6/12 1:06pm kat330:

Great hour, as usual!

Have a VERY wonderful vacation, Doug. Wrote a note about next Tues. Safe weekend everyone. Hydrate!
  Fri. 7/6/12 1:07pm kat330:

  Fri. 7/6/12 1:08pm triiish:
