  Sun. 6/24/12 12:19am Mr. Nose:

This show should be devoid of funk!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:19am Joe McG:

@chris m: I was hoping he would do "Jump Up!" but that's just my hard luck.

ChrisM, I got my unopened copy of The One at a garage sale with a bunch of other CD's for $10. And by unopened, I mean I didn't open it either.

this is a kickass show,,joe i'm loving it!!!
Sun. 6/24/12 12:30am Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Joe and all the listeners.
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:35am Droll:

G, We should show Sir Elton some respect.
I once convinced a friend the line "I may sink a little drink and shout out She's with me!" was actually "Shout out Jubilee!". As a bisexual glam rocker he made it easy to "prove" my point. I always liked him for that.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:38am Joe McG:

Hi, Richard from Venezzzzzuela!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:39am Joe McG:

I'd like to know everyone's least favorite Elton John song.
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:41am benny:

crocodile rock
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:41am Mr. Nose:

That'd have to be "mandy"
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:41am G:

tie:

"Social Disease"

and

"I Love You Just the Way You Are"
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:42am Mr. Nose:

Oh, wait...
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:43am miss cheri:

joe do you have more 70s funk? and my least fave is his version of "pinball wizard"
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:43am Droll:

I cannot answer the question on the grounds I refuse to find out what's on this "The One" CD, and the worst EJ song might very well be on it.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:45am Joe McG:

@G: Ha ha ha! @benny: I HATE fucking "Crocodile Rock." @Droll: There might be something even better on "Too Low for Zero."
Sun. 6/24/12 12:45am Revenge of the Board:

heya cheri,,,how was your week??? wre you on vacay??? what was the most degrading sexual act you engaged in all week,,,we love degradation!!! thnkx!!!
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:52am miss cheri:

i totaly agree with you joe "crocodile rock" really sucks!!!
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:54am G:

Isn't "Jamaica Jerk Off" worse, really
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:55am Joe McG:

Man, I forgot about that one. You know what I really don't like? "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues."
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:55am Droll:

G, Never heard it, but based on the title, I think we have a "winner".
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:55am G:

I know more about Elton John then I ougth ot admit. He played two concerts in my high school gym (American School in London) just as Yellow Brick Road was coming out.
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:56am G:

@Droll: As I recall, it's a cheesy satire on then newly mainstream reggae
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:56am benny:

that levon ones pretty bad too
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 12:58am Joe McG:

Did anyone hear that reunion LP with Bernie Taupin he did a couple of years ago? I was curious, but not curious enough to listen to it.
  Sun. 6/24/12 12:59am miss cheri:

joe i kinda like "i guess that's why they call it the blues" it's a good tune,,
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:01am j-No:

who coughed?
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:02am Droll:

We can mock and moan all we like, but he's one of the top 10 best selling musicians of all time. I'm sure the money helps him cope with the embarrassment and humiliation we've caused him here.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:03am Joe McG:

@j-No: I love when she coughs!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:04am Joe McG:

Droll is right: OK, what are your favorite Elton John songs that have made the world a brighter place?
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:04am j-No:

I'll bet she's even coffin today.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:05am G:

"Your Song" is kinda sappy, but not a badly done song.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:06am Droll:

No no no! He's got the money! We're here to humiliate and embarrass!
I'm just saying we've got a long ways to go before the hush money starts rolling in.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:06am benny:

i like the blue canoe song
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:07am j-No:

"Friends". soundtrack theme. A wonderful film which not only promotes unwed teen pregnancy, but advocates having your baby in a filthy old shack.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:08am G:

The Captain & the Kid was the Taupin reunion album, Joe, (2006) -- picking up where Capt Fantastic left off in 1975. EJ was pissed that Interscope didn't "promote it right" because it only made #18 on the US album chart and disappeared quickly.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:08am Matt from Springfield:

"Daniel" -- one of the most mysterious pop singles of the 70s. Btw, the MTV Unplugged version by Elton in 1990 is very different, but very worth hearing. Beautiful.

Hey Joe and everyone!
Sun. 6/24/12 1:10am Matt from Springfield:

@j-No: DJ Julie is big on that soundtrack: a wonderful, very free lovin' early 70s film.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:12am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, that movie is kind of like me! All I need is to get murdered...and to get a girlfriend...
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:14am miss cheri:

joe,,thnx for havin me i have to head out now..have a good week and see you next weekend night all!!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:14am Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! I have the "Friends" soundtrack also.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:17am Matt from Springfield:

Sam Hawkins, new artist to me; if he's got Ellie Greenwich songs under his belt, that's good bona fides.

Hey Joe! Amazing soundtrack that is, relic of a more "hippy" age!
Sun. 6/24/12 1:18am Matt from Springfield:

And speaking of Brill Building performers, great "Walking In The Sand" dub! Back when Belinda Carlisle was punk, apparently she and her bandmates liked to perform that Shangri-Las song.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:24am Joe McG:

I think there's a recording of that, Matt! Some club gig.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:26am johnnykevlar:

hey joe, do you know if a compilation with a bunch of old stuff Zappa recorded in cucamonga among other stuff is in the new pile? I forgot what it's called, I think it's named after the producer. Came out this month.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:28am Droll:

Yippie! Adrian Belew powered Belew! You can just leave this record on.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:28am mike noble in dc:

good eeeeeevening
Sun. 6/24/12 1:28am Matt from Springfield:

1991 Bowie! Now that's freeform, to even think of that!
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:28am G:

Lodger, perhaps DB's most underappreciated album, the last of his Eno-collaboration trilogy...
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:29am miss cheri:

i also love bowie too joe,,,
Sun. 6/24/12 1:29am Matt from Springfield:

Hey mike noble! Did you play radio musical chairs last Wednesday? :)
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:30am johnnykevlar:

They would collaborate again on outside, though. So it's not really the last one.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:31am G:

The last of the so-called Berlin trilogy with Eno...
Sun. 6/24/12 1:31am mike noble in dc:

did they do that on SSD this week? i'm afraid i was on a sail boat somewhere in the east river during that time period.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:32am Matt from Springfield:

@mike: Missed that live, but caught up on Archives. It somehow worked out!
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:32am G:

Two shellshocked victims of EJ requests on the air together. Do you get a hazardous duty increment?
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:33am Droll:

(er, Belew powered Bowie) A fine follow up after Fripp. Here's where I confess being a King Crimson fan, too..
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:34am G:

@Droll: Not looking at it... And then... Looking at it.... I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sun. 6/24/12 1:34am Matt from Springfield:

The Bruderschaft can, and WILL, continue on...
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:37am Droll:

Allentown was hammered, not drilled, into our minds with that clanking sound.
Thanks for putting that back...
Sun. 6/24/12 1:37am Matt from Springfield:

'73 or '97 version? :)
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:38am king penguin:

That is a very convincing Dooblin accent. More Christy Moore!
Sun. 6/24/12 1:39am Matt from Springfield:

Hey, not twice! The first version was nice. The second version, well, she was a famous friend of his, you knew he would come out with some song in tribute to Di.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:40am G:

The first version was really pretty sappy, right? :-)
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:41am G:

No lighting up a king fatty, guys
Sun. 6/24/12 1:41am Matt from Springfield:

Roasted chestnuts are pretty good. Make good base for stuffing.
Sun. 6/24/12 1:42am mike noble in dc:

can't wait to hear the mcgasko premium!
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:43am G:

People need thir big hole, NOW
Sun. 6/24/12 1:44am Matt from Springfield:

Wooooo! You rock Daniel Blumin!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:45am Joe McG:

Hey, Mike Noble! Sorry I didn't get to say hello till now. Gabbin' with the Blumin.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:46am king penguin:

i had him mixed up with Roger Chapman but quickly realized mistake. Excellent show by Brian.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:46am miss cheri:

night joe,see ya soon!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:47am Joe McG:

Anyone who missed it should check out Brian Turner's archive for this past week.
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:48am miss cheri:

it's been fun hanging out with you joe
Sun. 6/24/12 1:49am Matt from Springfield:

Michael Chapman! He rocks very much!!
  Sun. 6/24/12 1:51am G:

Known as "The King Of Beach Music," Curry continues to play in the Southeastern United States with his brand of Carolina Beach Music, and was inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame in 1995...
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 1:56am Joe McG:

Wow, Clifford Curry is still kicking? That makes me feel better about everything.

Werbley Finster?? Two people named Werbley and Finster, or is that one name??
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:01am G:

@Joe: Clifford C. released a Xmas album late last year
Sun. 6/24/12 2:01am mike noble in dc:

i think he would have been 70 this year.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:02am Joe McG:

@G: I gotta hear that! Thanks for the tip.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:03am Joe McG:

@Matt: You could probably tell, but that was Jose Feliciano having fun under an alias, making sport of all the "Paul Is Dead" nonsense.
Sun. 6/24/12 2:04am Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, good ol' Señor Feliciano! :D
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:05am king penguin:

wow. never heard that one. i thought it was Elton jumping the gun.
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:07am Joe McG:

You guys are going to force me to play Elton John tonight, aren't you?
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:08am G:

make sure cheri is gone, then play it :-)
Sun. 6/24/12 2:08am Matt from Springfield:

Whoa---unfamiliar Stevie! Sing it, Stevie!

@Joe: Well it couldn't hurt to play some Elton ;)
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:09am Droll:

I'm still advocating making fun of Sir Elton until we get some hush money.
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:11am king penguin:

Speaking of moving, we are not there yet but I am "editing" my clothes right now. T-shirts are huge problem. Of course some are keepers no matter what.
Sun. 6/24/12 2:12am Matt from Springfield:

And a double whoaey...wonderful Kris! Kind of different than his usual...reminds me so much of Nashville Skyline, if Bob were singing this I'd totally believe he would have written this as well.
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:19am king penguin:

You can get a freeform or death t-shirt!
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:22am G:

Stai Lontana da Me is Italian for "You're Far From Me" (addressd to a woman)
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:22am Marmalade Kitty:

I'm still here! Enjoying the show. Nikita, EJ? Elton wearing an Eaton boater straw hat? In a red convertible limo? at the Berlin wall check point!?
Sun. 6/24/12 2:24am mike noble in dc:

i can vouch for patrick carlin. he's hilarious!
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:26am chris m.:

i guess that's why they call it the blues... time on my hands!
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:28am Joe McG:

Before Elton gets here, I thought we'd hear a nice song about sacrificing virgins.
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:35am G:

In Comus I keep hearing bits of early Genesis and Tull, or is it the other way round
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:41am Droll:

G, I'm already filling out my report to the Prog Police about this set. One note of Mellotron and I'l have no choice but to check the PROG box...
. o O (I may sink a little wink and shout out Jubilee!)
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:42am Joe McG:

I'd like to dedicate this guitar instrumental to Kenzo since the album it comes from is clearly named after him.
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:45am king penguin:

hahaha
  Sun. 6/24/12 2:51am G:

Number Nine by Two from Two and Two? Is that a message in code?
Avatar Sun. 6/24/12 2:53am Joe McG:

@G: I think they called it "Dos y dos" because it sounds like DO-SEE-DO!
Sun. 6/24/12 2:59am Matt from Springfield:

Great Ellie..and George!
Thanks Joe, have a great night everyone!
