Listener comments!

  8:12pm papa:

Hi Mac, love the show.

Q. Do you know someone who repairs the old phonographs that were like a piece of furniture the size of say a chest if draws? (I live in Brklyn)
Avatar 8:14pm MAC:

send me a message to mac@wfmu.org and I will try to help
  8:18pm Waka Jawaka:

Thank you Mac for another great show in the making!
  8:22pm papa:

Cool thanks, will do!
  8:37pm ~L:

I recently went to an event day at the Edison site in West Orange. They had some musicians performing while being recorded on to a wax cylinder, then they played back the recording. Quite fascinating to see and hear! The wax cylinder made the performances sound instantly distant and ol'timey whimey. Anyway, I thought of you and your great WFMU show while there.
Avatar 8:38pm MAC:

Yes, been to several of those. They do them throughout the summer. They are really great to see. and hear!
  8:51pm Destroit:

Thanks MAC. Truly unique, and a few people hanging out have a new appreciation for what you do...and what freakin' went on 100 years ago! Thanks again.
  8:53pm Destroit:

@~L, great story, little things ya know:)
  1:18pm Andrew Gilmore:

According to the Encyclopedic Discography of Victor Recordings (http://victor.library.ucsb.edu), "Under The Bamboo Tree" is from 1903.
Avatar 11:32am MAC:

Thanks Andrew! That Victor site has been spotty in the past but seems to have gotten much better. I found the date of the Salliie Stembler record there too.
  7:40pm Frenk:

Really enjoyed the show! Thanks!!
  3:39pm Jeremy:

Jack Warner = Joseph A. Philips
Tenor of "My Little Girl" = Sam Ash
Robert Rice = Henry Burr
George Gordon = Charles Hart
