hello joe!
Sun. 5/20/12 12:06am Holly in NC:

I knew you'd play Donna! Thank you :-)
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:07am G:

I think she did in fact make it.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:08am Destroit:

Hello Joe and everyone, looking forward to the show.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:09am Joe McG:

Hey, Glen! Hey, Holly! Hey, G! Hey, Destroit! Hope you're all doing well tonight....I'm a bit sad and I'm going to make myself feel better by playing some Donna Summer records. Hope you don't mind hanging out with me while I do so.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:11am Destroit:

I'm cool with it. Sad to hear you're sad buddy.
Avatar    Sun. 5/20/12 12:12am D. Blumin:

Thanks fer the Donna Summer tribute, Joe! Glad you are doing one!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:13am Chop Scott:

Joe! You are great company, as always...Cheers!
Sun. 5/20/12 12:14am Holly in NC:

Sorry you're sad. I hope Donna & your loyal comment board can offer some solace.
'Summer Fever' always cheers me....
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:14am Joe McG:

@Destroit: Thanks, man! DS meant a lot to me. @ Blumin: Thanks, man! I know you would've done it, but you left it for me! @Chop Scott: Hey, man, great to see you! @Holly: That's a great one. Not sure if I should go with "Spring Melody" given the season...
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:18am Destroit:

I can't tell you how many times I've heard twisted versions of "I feel love" woven into sets after midnight. Love it.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:19am Joe McG:

It's SO good, Destroit, but I'm going to try to dig deeper, if I can. Side 4 of "Bad Girls" has some "I Feel Love" type stuff on it, so I might go there.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:21am Destroit:

Wasn't a request, definitely dig deeper....that's what we rely on!
Sun. 5/20/12 12:22am Holly in NC:

For me, 'Summer Fever" gets way more endorphins pumping, but go where you will, fearless leader! It's all good.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:24am Joe McG:

So nice to have you all here!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:30am Julie:

awww I missed so much Donna
Sun. 5/20/12 12:32am Holly in NC:

8th grade. awkward dancing & roller skating.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:33am Joe McG:

@Julie: I think I'll play some more yet, so don't worry! @Holly: That's sweet! I'm sure I also roller skated to Donna back then. Everybody rollerskated to Donna!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:33am miss cheri:

hey joe,,julie & holly...joe great tribute to donna summer,,but i'm afriad you'll be seeing less of me from now on =(
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:37am Julie:

always loved this song
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:38am Destroit:

Me too.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:38am Joe McG:

The cool thiing is how many of these songs she co-wrote. Some people act like she was Giorgio Moroder's puppet or something.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:41am miss cheri:

well i must say night all till next time rock on joe ,,julie & holly!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:42am Julie:

oh yeah..she did..
Sun. 5/20/12 12:44am Holly in NC:

Hi Julie, Destroit, Cheri!
@Joe - Donna definitely was no puppet.
Will be listening quietly for awhile, but here & awake
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:47am Joe McG:

OK, guys, last one, I promise!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:47am Julie:

I'm getting sad :( and yet I don't want you to stop
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:48am fatty:

all night Donna Summer, please. perfect right now.
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:49am Julie:

seriously
Sun. 5/20/12 12:50am Holly in NC:

I thought you'd be playing Donna all night!
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:55am Julie:

german?? AWWW
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:57am Julie:

noooo...jodie foster and cherie currie! camp was different movie
Sun. 5/20/12 12:57am Holly in NC:

Foxes! Had to sneak to see....
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:59am Julie:

I love Foxes
  Sun. 5/20/12 12:59am il chick:

WRONG!!! FOXES is with Jodie Foster and Cherie Currie. You are thinking of 'Little Darlings'.
I was listening to you playing 'ON the Radio' and had to go to youtube and watch the ending of 'Foxes', which is devastating. Cherie Currie from the Runaways is heartwrenching.
Sun. 5/20/12 1:00am Holly in NC:

Little Darlings is Tatum & Kristy. Had to totally sneak that too
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:01am Julie:

that was a different movie, same time
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:04am KP:

Julie, Goth Night of the Soul?
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:06am Joe McG:

Thanks, guys, for helping me out with my Foxes/Darlings confusion.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:10am Destroit:

Hello Holly!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:11am G:

Those were some darling foxes.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:22am Chop Scott:

JOE! Again, just saying that you are such great company!! Truly enjoy your program!!!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:24am Joe McG:

Thanks, Scott, always great to know you're listening.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:25am phat:

That Donna Summer block was FANTASTIC. Thanks for playing Dim All the Lights
Sun. 5/20/12 1:25am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe! Everyone!
Was just about to type that David Houston sounds so much like Lee Hazlewood...then the title changed!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:26am Destroit:

This Hazelwood song is great.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:26am Chop Scott:

Joe--you are a major highlight of my WFMU listening routine. Thanks for all that you do---
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:28am Joe McG:

@phat: Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I could've played Donna all night, but now Lee and Gene and Douglas are sounding good to me!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:28am KP:

Great one. I would have sworn Doug Dillard had been gone for a while.
Sun. 5/20/12 1:29am Holly in NC:

Thank you for playing Doug D. That whole lp is wonderful.
Sun. 5/20/12 1:30am Matt from Springfield:

Sounds like the Dillard in D&Clark must be from the Dillards bluegrass family. A little history about them at the mic break?
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:30am miss cheri:

i know i'm really risking my neck with my comments,,but joe could you please play either last dance or heaven knows..btw holly did you know that you,,julie & i like the same group?
Sun. 5/20/12 1:31am Matt from Springfield:

Oh wow. There's one of the Dillards gone too. That's at least 3 tributes, and the show ain't even half over yet. Not a good two months in music :(
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:32am Joe McG:

@Matt: I'll try to resist the Chuck Brown tribute set!
Sun. 5/20/12 1:33am Holly in NC:

But Block Party is another great summer song...
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:33am G:

Douglas Flint "Doug" Dillard (born March 6, 1937, Salem, Missouri - May 16, 2012 Nashville, Tennessee)
Sun. 5/20/12 1:33am Matt from Springfield:

Don't remind me! The King of Go-Go has Go-Gone...
That was DC's specific subtype of funk we developed and still play.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:42am Joe McG:

@Matt and Holly: Maybe next week! "Block Party" is a great song.
Sun. 5/20/12 1:42am Matt from Springfield:

Take off your shoes and DANCE!
Is this an original 45 of Mitch Ryder?
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:45am Destroit:

My first hit of blotter had a pic of Mitch Ryder on it. True story :)
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:45am Joe McG:

It is, Matt, and it's a bit worse for wear, I'm afriad!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:45am Joe McG:

@Destroit: Great story!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:48am miss cheri:

see you next week joe.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:49am Joe McG:

see you!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:52am Joe McG:

I'll apologize for this one in advance. I'm playing it to prove that Motley Crue came from somewhere.
Sun. 5/20/12 1:53am Matt from Springfield:

Diamond Reo--well this is new to me!
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:55am Destroit:

Apology accepted and point proven! Lawdy.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:56am G:

That one went to eleven.
  Sun. 5/20/12 1:58am Joe McG:

Now that the wine is flowing, I feel better.
Sun. 5/20/12 2:01am Holly in NC:

Yes, that Mass Production hit the spot!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:02am Destroit:

Ahh, Herbie...great show Joe. Donna, Booker segue...country and now 45 fun. Can't say you'll hear a show like this very often.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:02am Chop Scott:

Yes--and the Cult. Horrible...
Sun. 5/20/12 2:03am Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe.
Donald, Doug & Donna. What a week.
Sun. 5/20/12 2:04am Matt from Springfield:

@Destroit: Thanks to a weekly schedule, Surface Noise is a show that doesn't come around often, but you can hear it fairly often (fortunately!)
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:05am Reaper:

@Brian: I'm putting in a complaint to my union.
Sun. 5/20/12 2:07am Brian in UK:

@Reaper Take the rest of the year off.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:11am Reaper:

@Brian: From your lips to God's ears.

But I just cross jobs off the list, I don't write the list.
Sun. 5/20/12 2:12am Matt from Springfield:

Woot woot!!!
Another World Goth Day promotion!

(DJ Bronxelf--she's from the Bronx, and really does sound Bronx-y! :)
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:12am G:

I thought there was only World Goth Night
Sun. 5/20/12 2:13am Matt from Springfield:

@Reaper: Take a holiday and party on World Goth Day. Us music fans could use your break too.

@G: Day, night, 24 hours. Whatever, call it what you will, because it's all *dark* at any hour really...
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:14am Destroit:

The Julie / Bronx Elf show a few months back was incredible. I happened to wake up at 3:30 that morning and did not sleep. Those ladies messed up my work day but it was well worth it.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:14am G:

Matter of fact, it's all dark, eh?
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:14am Scott W:

Hi Joe! Hi Chop Scott! A very friendly Saturday evening, great show Joe
Sun. 5/20/12 2:16am Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, MVL! Those who liked him, here's a chance to hear him again!

@G: And inescapable, as well.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:18am Joe McG:

Wow, lookee there folks, it's Scott Williams from Monday afternoons! Hey, Scott! @Matt: Don't miss Mike's show, he's great.
Sun. 5/20/12 2:19am Matt from Springfield:

A Kate Bush "Sensual World" backing track? :)

Hey Scott!
Thanks for the rec, Joe. Never heard MVL at the time but many listeners were sad to see him leave.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:23am Joe McG:

I think you'll like him, Matt. Deep cuts!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:30am Brian in UK:

@ Reaper It's tough being the middle 'man'. What with all the cutbacks these days. I think we all appreciate that you have a job to do. Sub contracting is not an option.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:30am Reaper:

This goddam job is killing me.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:30am Joe McG:

Hey, Brian! Sorry I didn't say hello earlier!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:39am Matt from Springfield:

Good Ritchie Francis; particularly like those very 70s musical arrangements.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:39am Joe McG:

Arranged by Wil Malone, who was in Fickle Pickle!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:41am Brian in UK:

I slid in the side entrance Joe. Gotta cut & walk the dog. Will catch up on archive. You know the things we take for granted with this station. Oh I'll just listen on archive, like you can do this everywhere.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:42am Joe McG:

Say hi to poochie for me!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:43am Spencer:

Arf arf, Joe (wags tails)
Sun. 5/20/12 2:43am Matt from Springfield:

Good ol' Gerry!
I'm Fickle about Pickle arrangements, but those were certainly tops!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:43am Joe McG:

Good boy, Spencer, good boy!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:47am Matt from Springfield:

"Another Day"--TERRIFIC transition from Gerry Rafferty!!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:49am Joe McG:

:)
Sun. 5/20/12 2:49am Matt from Springfield:

I'm a big fan of Ram--I listened a lot to one of my parents copies nearly 10 years ago when I first got a record player, loved it and still have a great appreciation for it. So glad Tom Sch. put the tribute album together. Since they have a "dee-luxe" reissue out now, I'm totally going to get that!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:51am Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: While we don't actively pay attention to transitions, a good one makes a show that much better, stands out and is worthy of celebration! :)
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:55am Joe McG:

Well done, Matt!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:56am Joe McG:

I'm almost out of here...Thanks everybody for listening! Be sure to check out Mike next week. See you in two!
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:57am KP:

Wow. who is Marc Ellington this is excellent. Sounds like Gene Clark is back.
  Sun. 5/20/12 2:58am Joe McG:

Richard Thompson on guitar!
Sun. 5/20/12 2:59am Matt from Springfield:

Great show Joe! I'll listen to you in two!
And I'll check out Mike in one! Have a good night/day everyone!
  Sun. 5/20/12 3:19am KP:

God i knew that guitar was special. Thought it was Clarence white. They do a lot a similar stuff. And Clarence played with Gene quite a bit. Thanks joe.
