Scratchy vanity 45s, pilfered field recordings, muddy off-the-radio sounds, homemade congregational tapes and vintage commercial gospel throw-downs; a little preachin', a little salvation, a little audio tomfoolery.

Are the Southern Sons on any CD releases?
Avatar    Thu. 5/10/12 8:18pm sinner:

Yes. There is a complete collection on the Document label. A later incarnation of the Southern Sons recorded for Trumpet, c.1951-3; those sides are great, too, but in a more harder style. Roscoe Robinson sings on those.
