listen to wfmu just for one more day through soundtap and then we,mat get through to the next round. at the moment we only have listening through soundtap and our competitor has 12 listeners so wfmu is losing. help us, ie wfmu win and become more well known.

Hi all! Soundtap has a competition going on between 64 of what they think are the best non-commercial stations in the country. They are ranking the stations based on how many people spend how much time listening online through their site. WFMU knew nothing of this until it started. They pitted us today against WOBC, Oberlin College's freeform station. We are losing, I think! Which feels weird for me, because I first did a radio show at WOBC, for 2.5 years from 1994-1996.

i think the main issue with soundtap is that the other stations are all college radios so all the on campus students or just the students all tune in and support their own station all the time so they have a fairly consistent large base of listeners whereas wfmu listeners are so divergent and global and at different timezones and working and weirding and waiting and this wobc college.. we know wfmu is the best anyway. and the only true independent freeform etc etc.

Jesse Jarnow and Doug Schulkind from WFMU also first did radio at WOBC. It's a great station -- worth checking out (some other time when I'm not on air).

The other thing is, for me to listen to WFMU I just load up my mp3 player and click on the playlist item. Usually by the time I get the website I'm already at least 10-15 minutes into my session.

Davy Jones was a young stage actor in London before becoming a Monkee. WFMU's listeners on the Madness site have been stuck at 4 for over a couple of hours now- when my 90 minutes ran out it didn't change. But on Soundtap's main page the top show now is this one with 40 odd listeners, fishy...
