|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:09pm
Caryn:
Interestingly, in the 2011-12 Press Freedom Index, the US is only no. 47, losing to such countries as Papua New Guinea and Ghana. Any thoughts, Clay?

Thu. 3/15/12 6:11pm
Matt from Springfield:
We can make it to better times, but a lot are going to suffer until then. Awareness of problems plauging the government and economy is on the rise, a backlash has started, but it won't be easy to make any better world.

Pigeon:
I know ... I need images. Images! I have the ugliest page at FMU. Caryn, I hope things can improve through vigilance and peaceful action.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:11pm
Matt from Springfield:
Yeah Clay, post one of your "cards" on a playlist! Others have expressed interest in seeing that too!

Matbe I could include on along with the CC4 promotional unit.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:13pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Caryn: Only about 6 very corporate companies own pretty much all media, those with press passes still end up arrested most of the time at protests, threats against reporters count for a lower score.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:14pm
Pigeon:
Man. I'm so sleep-deprived, I'm mis-spelling.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:15pm

A- Clay, you were within one QwerTY letter :)

Did you return an "Okay M__F__" Clay? :)

Thu. 3/15/12 6:18pm
Pigeon:
No comment, Matt. | |

Thu. 3/15/12 6:19pm
Matt from Springfield:
The only place anymore where most cars you see are Detroit made, is probably Detroit.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:19pm
glenn!:
why are you pigeon tonight, and not clay?
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:21pm
Caryn:
And I gotta say, I don't think your page is ugly, Clay. For one thing, you've chosen nice colours. Granted, it's minimalistic, but that's not the same as ugly. @Matt: yep. That reminds me of "Grosse Pointe Blank", where all the spies and assassins are easy to spot, because they're the only ones in American-made cars.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:22pm
Matt from Springfield:
He would be a "Classical Liberal", a European pre-libertarian sort of philosophy.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:23pm
Pigeon:
Good point Matt. Glenn. Not sure. Just a feeling. Caryn ... thanks! :>)
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:23pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Caryn: Ha ha, probably the same for unmarked police cars!
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:25pm
Betelgeuse:
Stopped by Liberty Park a few weeks ago very late rainy night. Cops cops cops everywhere. Not a soul to be seen in the park. Took a seat to enjoy the view of the new national security tower under construction. Laid back to get a better view on one the tables. After a few minutes I was joined by a plain clothes officer who informed me that you are no longer allowed to recline or otherwise take a recumbent posture in the park. He was relatively apologetic for breaking balls but I had no doubt that an arrest was on the horizon. Sad.

Thu. 3/15/12 6:27pm

Hey thanks for "Different". Don't think I've ever heard it on the radio. I've loved that song for years - the Cass Elliot version, that is
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:27pm
Pigeon:
thanks for that, Betel. JULIE! Thanks for checking in, young lady.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:27pm

Cards that are very befitting of Clay. Hi Julie!
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:27pm
Caryn:
Yay, Julie in the house!
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:29pm
Pigeon:
No, Matt. But I love William Has A Doll from that Marlo LP. This is from PufNStuf, evidently. Barbara of London sez Cass sang it.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:30pm
other david:
Great show Clay and important. The occupy camp in Dublin got wound up last week. Sort of became a subject of popular derision over the last 2-3 months, despite the fact that everybody is complaining about enforced austerity, bailing out banks & bondholders. Just 15 people in the camp when the police came and tore it down.

Occupy your own street before you worry about Wall St.

Bush was incompetent shill salesman, guy. Yet you seem horribly misenchanted with him... Competence IS a virtue when it comes to the head of government.

I ran out of time last night at 5am. Just had to let it roll. No editing to save me from sounding inept!

Thu. 3/15/12 6:36pm

You did a good job of dealing with someone like him.

Thu. 3/15/12 6:36pm
Pigeon:
Hey Emile! TY Dave. Seattle. Layne Staley. RIP
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:37pm
joe:
I resent the fact that I have been lumped in with the 99% automatically due to the fact that I'm not part of the 1%. I do not share many of Occupy's opinions or the practices of the supposed 1% percents.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:38pm
glenn!:
you WILL NOT air this. that's right, i'm talking to you.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:38pm
joe:
Pigeon you are not supposed to be airing this
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:39pm
kata:
i missed the beginning of what this dude said, but some of ihis criticisms I agree with, it's the condescending tone of his voice that bugs me.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:39pm
Pigeon:
He meant ... you WON'T air this. Like ... I wish you would, but I bet you won't.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:39pm
Matt from Springfield:
@joe: And you don't have to. "The 99%" refers to a mindset, and everyone in the actual 99% is open to call themselves such, or not. Now, Americans are the 1% of the Earth. Wonder how I figure into that...
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:40pm
Pigeon:
We talked about it. That's why I shut the tape off momentarily.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:40pm
Emile:
I wish I was as sure about the way the universe works as this guy.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:40pm
Matt from Springfield:
@kata: And his screeding fashion of monologue. THIS IS WHAT THE INTERNET'S FOR! WHY AM I STILL LISTENING TO THIS?? :)
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:40pm
Julie:
We should increase the number to 120 percent to fit more people in :D
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:41pm
glenn!:
dear conspiracy theorists: occam's razor. that's all.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:41pm
joe:
I just have a problem that if someone came down and offered all of these guys a decent job with a comfortable life my opininon is 50% of them won't be there the next morning.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:41pm
Listener Dave from Seattle:
He seems like a really strange candidate for Occupy. But I guess everyone has their own reasons.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:42pm
Barbara, in London:
99% a mindset? | |
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:42pm
Pigeon:
How are you Jules? Did you check out TJF?
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:42pm
Chico:
when you trulllllly look at what it is to be human andwhat it is to have love for your fellow man, you see whoever is running this game is far from human. Not to get cooky or anything but just think about how you feel as a human.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:43pm
glenn!:
joe is right. but those jobs are vanishing.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:43pm
joe:
Do we honestly belive that we have to wait 10 years for the banks to own everything as if it is not that way already.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:43pm
Pigeon:
Great insight, Chico. | |
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:43pm
sfrances:
Really enjoying the show...listening instead of typing--I'm so glad you get this guy roll & talk, Clay. Hope y'all are having a swell evening!
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:44pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Barbara: For example, many Occupys are respectful to the surrounding police, calling them the 99% themselves. Occupy Oakland however is very radical (they shut down the port in December) and the police in Oakland have a long history of brutality (the Marine vet shot in the head with a tear gas canister). Occupy Oakland says that those police may be 99% economically, but are part of the 1% for protecting power with a vengeance.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:46pm
joe:
@Chico well put | |

sinister dexter:
good stuff Clay Pigeon ..... greetings from grand rapids michigan
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:48pm
Matt from Springfield:
@joe,glenn: Occupy is protesting the status quo, and as someone pointed out here, you wouldn't expect people to still be camping in tents in Zuccotti Park 50 years from now. You move on, you take the battle to the next place. Hopefully things will improve, and some hardcore Occupiers will probably never leave; but if conditions genuinely improve, yes most will probably withdraw from Occupy.
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:48pm

TY DC PAt .... what would FMU do without YOUR loyal presence. It matters. Keep listening! Frances. Cy Coleman - Reverie In Tpaz ..... so lovely.

Julie:
I'm good Clay, miss you guys! TJF?
|
Thu. 3/15/12 6:53pm
joe:
That's pretty arrogant to say that no one has been discussing this stuff prior to Occupy. Maybe John Stewart and Colbart were not talking about it so they didn't know about but it was being talked about.
|
