Cecile:

YEAH
  12:29pm
Cecile:

Kryptonics from Australia? They have that sound...
  12:34pm
Cecile:

aw......
  12:35pm
Nick Sakes:

I am Nick from Brooklyn, formerly Minneapolis. Hey, C.
  12:35pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Clay Pigeon might be able to give you singing tips. Then again, maybe his tips would be things not to do.
  12:36pm
Shaqueela O'Kneal:

The best DJs on WFMU, TOGETHER!
  12:37pm
Cecile:

hey, Nick!
Avatar 12:40pm
kamikaze:

Hey Nick and Everyone! Thanks for your pledges! Please spread the word if you can! Your generosity is appreciated!!
  12:42pm
Joel Gasten:

Love ya, Diane!
  12:42pm
Nick Sakes:

One of my most memorable shows I ever played was when Dazzling Killmen (my old band) opened for The Accused at The Outhouse in Lawrence, KS on July 4th. Crazy chaos.
  12:43pm
Cecile:

Nick Sakes. were you in Sicbay? I liked them a lot.
  12:46pm
Rusty from Pearl Harbor:

Just pledged, always grand to hear from DKFM.
Aloha from Pearl Harbor and Maili Beach. (not Miami Beach like the bloke said earlier)
  12:46pm
Nick Sakes:

Yes I was.
  12:46pm
Joel Gasten:

It's NH. I goofed on the form! Since fixed with WFMU. :) Thanks!!!
  12:48pm
Robert:

I think I go well over 60%. Ironically, it's this very program that's usually most likely to get me to turn off. It has to do with the change in Diane's tastes over a decade ago.

But that's the great thing about the station that works in practice, but not theory. People give you money, and just trust you to use your judgment.
  12:48pm
Joel Gausten:

heh...and got my name wrong above. heh heh. Guess I shouldn't be doing this while working!
  12:50pm
Robert:

More often than MY wanting to turn WFMU off, though, is when I'll have it on and people around me yell, "Turn that shit off!"
  12:51pm
Cecile:

Nice. You guys were a breath of fresh air at the time, good music not fashion plates
  12:54pm
Cecile:

My pledge was a pledge from a broad. Hyuk, hyuk.
  1:09pm
dc pat:

which group DIDN'T start off playing stepping stone?? I must have been in 3 groups that played it.
  1:11pm
Cheri Pi:

D'oh; I just realized that I can pledge via Prize Account pledge!!! I need to wake up and read the fine print.
  1:11pm
bill:

Get up!
Get down!
  1:15pm
Chinchilla:

Hey Cecile, I take it your pledges to your favorites are adding up to bigger pledge category... Is this whole 'pledge account' the easiest way to do that? Or do you just click on the banners for each show?
  1:18pm
dc pat:

Let's list all the people who might donate a million. Off the top o' my head: REM, Matt Groening, Moby, who else...Robert Plant fer chrissakes?
  1:19pm
dc pat:

...Thurston Moore? is he a bidillionaire?
  1:19pm
Joel Gausten:

green day
  1:19pm
dc pat:

...James Jarmusch?
  1:19pm
bill:

George Soros
  1:20pm
Cecile:

I pledged before the marathon and created a prize account. I use the pledge form banner, and note in my comments that I have a prize account. I select the Bill me Later option.

Die Kruezen YES
  1:20pm
dave:

adnan kashoggi.
  1:20pm
Ike:

Some of us love hearing the marathon but I suspect we also secretly hate it a little, too, as with many wild parties. It's funny, unpredictable, and also excruciating.
  1:20pm
Robert:

That'd be like the TV stations, i.e. making their programming completely different while they pitch for dough.
  1:21pm
bill:

I bet Steve Hillenberg is a fan
  1:22pm
dc pat:

The DNC?
  1:24pm
Cecile:

beta stream is terrible today.
  1:26pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Have you guys caught Eddie Trunk on TV or satellite? He does a good job, but you guys cover about twenty times more bands and more variety than he does.
  1:27pm
Cecile:

Eddie is great for mainstream rock. Which is what he likes, not so much the stuff in the margins.

WFMU and other outlets are totally in the margins.

  1:28pm
Cecile:

weird, it double posted.

Wasn't it more like '82 or '83?
  1:29pm
Cecile:

Cause their first LP included it, and it was in '84.
  1:34pm
Cecile:

YES. You know it, girl.
  1:36pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Buy now, pay later. It's the American way.

  1:44pm

  1:47pm

Avatar 1:50pm

Avatar 1:51pm
kamikaze:

@Cecile: Actually that version of Think for Me on the first LP was re-recorded. The version on the premium is an extra track on one of their cds, and was on Cows and Beer (not sure about the year tho!)
  1:51pm
joe:

sorry personal issues with the guy :)
  1:51pm
Ike:

Speaking of Diane's old playlists, I think this might be the first show I ever heard on FMU, other than in passing:
http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/30346
Thanks for posting those, Diane, it's fun to look through them.
  1:53pm
Amy:

Sweet...'Burque band on Diane's show. Rad.
  1:55pm
Cecile:

Yeah, I knew that tracks from Cows and Beer were redone for the first album.

I did a little digging, and it was 1982 that Cows and Beer originally came out.
  1:57pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Concerning Eddie Trunk: Would you consider a new W.A.S.P. record in 2011 to be mainstream rock? He obviously covers Foo Fighters and what not, but some of these old metal bands sorta phased out of Mainstream in my opinion.
  1:57pm
Cheri Pi:

I love that li'l ep Cows And Beer, glad to have the 7" at Cp/hq
  1:59pm
Cecile:

I would consider them an oldies mainstream band, actually.

It's funny but the more i hear the more I find that the over 40s are keeping the mainstream metal bands in business over here.
  2:04pm
joe:

DKFM is a plate of barbaqued habanero peppers covered in tabasco with side of super cold beer.
  2:06pm
bill:

DK's show has been magical this year.
  2:07pm
