  Mon. 2/27/12 9:40am glenn:

even your partridge family albums that you've been keeping since you were five?
  Mon. 2/27/12 9:42am Ben:

Everybody! Help Liz raise $. It's about time we do something for her. We're here because her shit is good shit. They even have this website for us to write whatever we want. It's no bullshit, I think they really do need a few bucks from each of us who can afford it.
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 9:48am Liz B.:

Aw, thanks Ben. People, listen to this man!
  Mon. 2/27/12 9:50am Cecile:

Are you going to be giving away some house music? :D
  Mon. 2/27/12 9:54am Kris T.:

'morning, Liz...I pledged online to your show a few days ago. Would have pledged to Jason too, but my amount wasn't deemed 2-DJ-worthy
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 9:56am BT:

Two great prizes up for grabs now: Zola Jesus' Conatus CD on sacred Bones + the killer B-Girls comp of classic queen MCs! Pledge now, the room is quiet at you have a good shot at nabbing these!
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 9:56am Liz B.:

Alright, thanks Kris!!
  Mon. 2/27/12 9:59am Cecile:

I pledgeded.
Put me infor the B-Girls.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:01am Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel, Earth, Milky Way):

PITY PLEDGES en masse! that last Benjamen was me LB
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:10am Cecile:

I have lots of pity to give.
I was off last week. And still have a prize account.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:10am Cecile:

I have lots of pity to give.
I was off last week. And still have a prize account.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:14am Cecile:

Put me in for Chicas, too.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:16am Cecile:

hey, just because it's fundraiser doesn't mean we can't chat...
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:18am Ike:

A lot of people wait even longer to start their prize accounts, or to pledge at all. There's a strange inclination sometimes to procrastinate it. Hey folks, stop putting it off and give the DJs a morale boost by pledging NOW. Do NOT wait until the finale.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:19am Cecile:

I had to pledge to Jason last week just cause, but this week I'm totally catching up.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:19am Cecile:

I had a great week off from work. Drew so much that my carpal tunnel started acting up...
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:19am Froxy MUsic:

For your pledger
In our present state
Part false part true
Like anything
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:26am Cecile:

this sounds like Contact by Bridgette Bardot a bit.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:26am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

GO, WFMU, GO-GO! 1-800-989-9368 or wfmu.org It's *our* time!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:31am Cecile:

I'm all about impurity and pragmatism if it makes good art, but that's been long gone from the music mainstream for the most part.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:31am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Whoahhh, thanks, LBBT! I feel lucky and honored. I am sure I'll keep contributing throughout the week (beyond my record adaptor.) Let's all crank it up and keep on pushing WFMU lovers! <3
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:31am Ike:

Known as the modern what-now? I didn't quite catch that because Liz was laughing. Heh.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:33am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Slick radio makes me ill. WFMU is the real.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:34am Cecile:

Well, the obvious comparison about your music collection and listening to 'FMU is like, well sex. A one-some is nice, but a two-some is better.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:35am dilettante courtoisie:

hi Liz. It has been a long time. I am back now. Paris-France
Mon. 2/27/12 10:36am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

The first time I ever played the Melvins' Bullhead I switched Boris from 36 to 45 rpm, convinced it couldn't possibly be slow slow and low by design. Haha...
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 10:40am BT:

Fresh and Onlys Secret Walls LP up for grabs now. Liz needs to hear from yaz. We're past the halfway point and need some pledge action, everybody.
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 10:40am Liz B.:

Hey, dilettante courtoisie, nice to see you here again!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:41am ?:

Come on, people, pledge til you drop!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:41am Caryn:

Aargh, that ? was me. Wake up, brain!
Mon. 2/27/12 10:42am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Caryn, I should've known it was you I stood with so emphatically.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:43am DJ Keili:

I just called in my pledge for the Awesome Robot Dance Party Premium! I LOVE YOU LIZZY B!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:43am Caryn:

Hiya, Adam! And Cecile! And the DJs, of course!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:47am yayson:

c'mon lurkers (like me:)) loosen up your grip on those gold pieces, melt your heart of ice by PLEDGING NOW!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:47am Cecile:

Oh, lord.
They were so offbeat they were offputting.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:47am Caryn:

Come on, people! Liz is getting ornery. And you wouldn't like her when she's ornery. *Cue Hulk-like transformation from Liz*
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:47am pierre:

@Dilettante Courtoisie : i recently bought Kraus, and loved it very much, merci.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:48am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Hey, Family! Pledgers are automatic WFMU winners.

  Mon. 2/27/12 10:51am Cecile:

play some Downer Rock Genocide, guys.
Mon. 2/27/12 10:52am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Quit scaring Liz! 1-800-989-9368 or wfmu.org Sure we're a cult, but we don't all wear throwback Nike runners, and we don't all sleep on bunk beds.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:53am Cecile:

katttttttttttttttttttttieeeeeeeeeeee.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:54am Sean:

What's the bed music right now?
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:54am Cecile:

I wear Puma Lazyman shoes.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:55am Kris T.:

"Kristofer from Watertown MA"... that's me... thanks for the thanks (but mostly for the wicked sounds)
Mon. 2/27/12 10:55am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I'm a Puma kid myself, Cecile. Well, Pumas and Adidas. But, I'm extremely loyal to WFMU.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:58am Cecile:

I thought it was pronounced.
oo oo eee oo oo
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:58am Cecile:

also, I believe the young lady in the Boredoms has something to do with this band.
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:58am dc pat:

Puma Liga for me, 2 pair, one for wearing, one for playing soccer (1/2 size smaller)
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:59am Cecile:

Pulsallama lives!
  Mon. 2/27/12 10:59am dc pat:

Yoshimi is in OOIOO and is/was in Boredoms.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:00am glenn:

why smaller?
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:00am Cecile:

nice. I have some non sporting Lazys. And some nice sparkly purple oxford style lace ups. I have to find new cute shoes now that I can't wear heels much anymore. :(
Mon. 2/27/12 11:01am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Hahaha, this is satirically fun, all this shoe talk. More shoe admissions. But, more importantly more pledging to WFMU. 1-800-989-9368/wfmu.org Revenge of zee Nerds. ;-)
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 11:02am BT:

OOIOO's Armonico Heva up for grabs right now! Please keep pledges coming in, we've got an hour to make Liz's 5K goal and we're not yet to 3K. Crucial times, people!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:02am Cecile:

If you like Shoes the band or shoes the shoes, pledge.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:03am dc pat:

better fit for running around, short stops etc. But not as comfy as the normals size. Rafa Nadal wears shoes that are 2 whole sizes too small for him.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:03am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I have some flash Yo'! MTV Raps Pumas. And, no MTV no longer raps for me! :-p haha..
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 11:03am Liz B.:

I'm wearing my shell-toed adidas today. B-Girl style! (Berg girl)
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:04am dc pat:

my fave shoes are and always will be creepers.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:05am Cecile:

For me it was Converse all stars, but they have next to no arch support - even worse than Lazys (which are actually kind of good even though they are so light)
Mon. 2/27/12 11:05am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Pledge to Liz because she's as beautifully around the way as Bobbito's Footworks once was.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:05am Cecile:

I'm starting off a little slow. I want to strategically pledge.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:06am dc pat:

yeah chucks didn't make my feet feel good at all--same with Vans, though I still have a pair of those.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:07am dc pat:

It's funny how obsessed we were with shoes when younger and then you see video of a group like the minutemen and d's wearing goofy running shoes.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:07am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I remember envying the first kids from California who showed up in Juneau, Alaska with low-top Vans, when I was but a yout'.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:08am Caryn:

All about Adidas, Pumas & Reeboks here! Of course, since Adidas and Puma were both founded by the Dassler brothers, I always consider those two brands to be kin to one another.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:08am Cecile:

Yep. that's why I loved them. They, the Meat Puppets and 'mats made me embrace my midwestern thrift store aesthetic.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:09am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Great point, dc pat! Minutemen walked econo.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:09am dc pat:

DAMN YOU LIZ!! Have to get in the running for Omar...
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:11am Cecile:

it really wasn't a real aesthetic. It was mostly dressing for warmth. I remember wearing a collared sweater with a turtleneck under it with an ancient black cordurory trench over cause I was too poor for down coats, and a couple of people freaked out over my "vintage" style.

FOTC had a running joke on their show what their vintage style was: "clothes."
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:12am Cecile:

I was shocked at the 'mats because they actually looked like me and my friends. Everyone bought flannel shirts cause they were cheap and warm.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:13am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@Cecile, and they always seemed like they partied like me and my friends too, in an open field. :-)
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:15am dc pat:

yep, same with us Cecile--everybody in PA wore flannel anyway so we all found ourselves "in style."
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:15am Cecile:

Yeah. I wasn't a field partier myself, but 75% of my HS graduating class was...
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:15am neil:

hey Liz berg and BT!
Have you hear the London idol duo Hype Williams remix this Doug Hream cut?
Almost as good as the original.
Keep up the success!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:15am still b/p:

90s grunge fashion was routine-wear twenty years earlier for plenty of us.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:15am Cecile:

they'd go to a place called "Camp Parma". It sounded exotic until I found out it was someone's rundown hunting shack and a keg.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:16am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Liz Berg is a treasure! 1-800-989-9368 or wfmu.org
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:16am dc pat:

we drank cans of Fosters down by the Susquehanna..
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:16am yayson:

whoa, jazzercise!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:17am Caryn:

@Adam: you're right about the Nikes and bunk beds. I also suspect that we are not all disturbingly androgynous and that we don't all have the same haircut.
On the other hand, we are all computer-adept, we have self-appointed (comments board) monikers, we have a uniform (WFMU t-shirts), and many of us believe Yo La Tengo will come hidden in the tail of a comet to lead us to freeform radio paradise, so...
Mon. 2/27/12 11:17am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I mostly read in high school, but I couldn't resist open flame. Hahaha.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:17am Cecile:

yeah, sbp.
I think I had a problem with the "Our Band Could Be Our Life," cause the author wasn't from the Midwest. So much of getting Big Black, the 'mats, etc came from as the mats put it being stuck in the middle. And you could be in the middle on both coasts, as long as you were stuck somewhere you didn't want to be.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:17am hamburger:

of all the tracks I can see the robots thrustin' to this track the hardest
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:18am Cecile:

hamburger, it's the robot soul train dance line.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:19am robot:

Faculty monitors at the dances won't let us grind.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:20am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Caryn, hahahaha ;-) well put, although I do wish sometimes to be disturbingly androgynous, just for fun. It looked magical on Bowie.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:22am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Whatsamattayou, non-pledgers?
Mon. 2/27/12 11:24am Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel, Earth, Milky Way):

I'm willing to be stuck with Brian and Liz in a smelly tent. absolutley.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:25am Danne D:

Go Liz Go! :)
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:26am Caryn:

@Adam: damn straight. If you can do "disturbingly androgenous" well, it's magic. Todd Haynes & a university lecturer of mine both once made the same point: it is much easier to handle someone being clearly other in an easily definable way. But keeping things ambivalent is often much more disturbing for people, but also way more interesting. Todd Haynes said it about Bowie's androgeny, the lecturer about The Smiths' androgeny and ambivalence.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:26am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I can hardly believe I am getting 12 dj premiums this year. Bonkers! These Wonderful WFMU volunteers should be celebrated massive.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:27am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Hey, Danne D! Hey, Yair Yona! :-)
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:28am Caryn:

Danneeeee!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:29am BSI:

Greetings, bretheren & sisteren.
Haven't been ignoring the 'thon, been wicked busy. Hoping to catch up & pay my dues rat quick...
Mon. 2/27/12 11:30am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Caryn, you are a wonderful friend and a trusted ally.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:31am Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel, Earth, Milky Way):

hey @Adam!
Mon. 2/27/12 11:31am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

BSI, you're just in time! :-)
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:32am Skirkie:

I hear tell the dog WILL wag it's tail now when goals are reached.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:33am Caryn:

Aww, Adam, you're not so bad yourself.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:36am Caryn:

Okay, people! The last of the holdouts should be inspired to pldge by Skirkie's news. Come on, let's see the elusive tail wag!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:37am Caryn:

Aargh, pledge, not "pldge"... hard to type one-handed.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:37am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I plan to fly cross-country next year to answer phones and the like for WFMU during marathon time. I am excited about it...
Mon. 2/27/12 11:39am Internet Porn Addict:

Tell me about it, Caryn.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:39am Kevin:

I'm procrastinating screenprinting occupy posters by looking at the different dj premiums.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:41am KP:

Party Down. That was a great show.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:42am robyn:

if i was stuck in an elevator with bjork, i am absolutely certain she would eat me first.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:42am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I think John Dwyer is going to be at Primavera this year. *That* would be an interesting elevator ride!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:42am Caryn:

Robert Smith's hair would be good for flossing after eating Björk...
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:44am KP:

Caryn! That's terrible!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:44am Danne D:

Hey Adam :)

Cannibalism when stuck in an elevator is just "Human Behavior" I guess.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:44am Ike:

Both of them would be awfully chewy.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:44am still b/p:

Mmmm...beef bjorky.
Bjorkshire pudding...?
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:44am dc pat:

I'd eat Bjork but Robert Smith, ick. He probably tastes like spam
Mon. 2/27/12 11:45am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

When Caryn's good she's great, but when she's bad she's better.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:45am Internet Porn Addict:

That is a pretty bad image, Caryn.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:46am Caryn:

@KP: hell yeah, "Party Down" all the way!
Mon. 2/27/12 11:46am Internet Porn Addict:

Al Goldstein would be right at home here.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:46am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Robert Smith tastes like dry ice I suspect.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:46am Jennique:

My thoughts on Robert Smith in mini book form:

  Mon. 2/27/12 11:47am Skirkie:

I was just looking it up, for those who prefer grass fed meat:
Robert Smith is a vegetarian, Bjork is not.
Avatar Mon. 2/27/12 11:48am BT:

Last chance people! Get your pledges in now!!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:49am Caryn:

Hey, you're already eating a human being, and most likely raw, since cooking Björk on an elevator is gonna be tricky (unless by some crazy coincidence you have a camping sterno fire in your bag). When you're covered in Icelandic songstress blood and sinew, using a bit of scraggly goth hair to get that bit of Björk shortrib from between your teeth is not gonna seem gross anymore.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:51am Caryn:

BTW, going to Iceland in May. Now I'm gonna be worried every time I step into an elevator there...
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:51am Danne D:

@Caryn - are you sure that Björk actually has blood in her system? I'm not sure that I buy that. Carrying a sterno around with you at all times is good survivalist strategy btw.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:52am Danne D:

@Caryn you need not worry, I think Iceland was forced to sell all of the country's elevators when the country went bankrupt.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:53am Skirkie:

Bjork seems to me the like someone who would stalk, kill, and eat a rabbit all with her bare hands.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:53am still b/p:

I will have the center-cut Bjork chops and a glass of the shaft red, please.

@Danne: heh!

As for Al Goldstein, I wonder if the person who bought his mansion kept the giant middle finger statue he had by his pool?

Bouef Bjorkguignon! that took me a while - not sure it was worth it..
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:55am Caryn:

  Mon. 2/27/12 11:56am Danne D:

I usually don't pick up on key changes, but clearly that and a lot more are going on in this cover of Jump.
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:56am Ben:

Only here can you hear a song this bad. Make Liz's day. Please pledge now.
Mon. 2/27/12 11:57am Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Liz B., this could be the best party jam EVR!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:57am Caryn:

Pledge now, or this will play on a loop!
  Mon. 2/27/12 11:57am Danne D:

  Mon. 2/27/12 11:58am Robert:

  Mon. 2/27/12 11:58am Danne D:

With a special appearance by U.K. minus John Wetton...

  Mon. 2/27/12 12:00pm robyn:

Bouef Bjorkguignon - brilliant.
  Mon. 2/27/12 12:00pm Caryn:

@Danne: I'd believe Townsend doing that. Of course, his famous helicopter hand move is the result of a major mistake on his part too...
  Mon. 2/27/12 12:01pm Danne D:

@Caryn :) always dropping the knowledge.

Great Job Liz and Brian!
  Mon. 2/27/12 12:03pm Caryn:

After all these puns, I'm tempted to say, "Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the björk!"
