Again, today's show will be all jazz and improv -- or at least, my take on them.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:12pm Doug S.:

The 2012 WFMU/Give the Drummer Radio Marathon officially kicks off next Monday. Tony will be on today and BOTH weeks of the 'thon. Thank you Tony!
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 12:14pm tonyc:

Ah yes -- thanks for mentioning that, Doug! I will indeed be here next week. My premium will be ready for its unveiling by then.

@J from JP
Tony has been broadcasting on this alternate stream for a over a year now. His show normally airs here every other Tuesday, 12-3 (EST), but due to the marathon, Tony will be on the next three consecutive Tuesday afternoons!

Turn that noise off and come down and eat your tea; it's getting cold.

  Tue. 2/14/12 12:32pm J from JP:

Cool. Thanks for the update. I guess this stream hasn't really been on my radar. Should be! I'll stay tuned.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:33pm Brian en Angleterre:

  Tue. 2/14/12 12:38pm annie:

  Tue. 2/14/12 12:38pm charlie:

I've had some minor buffering problems, but you're still there.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:38pm Doug S.:

@J from JP
There are now a half dozen shows airing on the stream, with more to come. You can follow the stream on Twitter (@GTDRadio) on Facebook (Give the Drummer Radio at WFMU) and via email. I send out email alerts for all shows airing on the stream, plus a weekly newsletter. To get on the email list, send a request to: drummer (at) wfmu [dot] org.

@Tony
The stream cut for me, too, but reestablished quickly.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:39pm annie:

Oops! Dropped out again .. but I'm back now.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:56pm Brian en Angleterre:

Tony, think you have some buffering teenagers in the house. Check IDs at the door and remove any chocolate. Pesky kids over forty. Thought that was Mr Cage sampled.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:56pm Doug S.:

Just had another rebuffering episode. I have the stream software open and nothing is interrupting the stream from the stream's end. I'm guessing maybe spotty power in Jersey City.
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:58pm BSI:

[raises fist]
SPOTTY POWER!
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 12:59pm tonyc:

Or maybe it's Sun Ra spots interfering with the signal?
  Tue. 2/14/12 12:59pm charlie:

Tony, have you got any Spotty Power LPs?
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:00pm Shaun:

@BSI LOL!
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 1:01pm tonyc:

@BSI LOL x 2!
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 1:06pm tonyc:

Charlie: No Spotty Power LPs, no -- but I do have the Pimple Power EP.
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:07pm charlie:

cool...
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:12pm charlie:

Yay, Holmler-Waegman-Fajt! Nice.
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:18pm Doug S.:

Just got confirmation from WFMU tech guru Mike Adler that the stream interruptions are station-wide Internet issues and not GTDR specific.
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:23pm Cage:

Noise fans here should check this out ... Former WFMU DJ/Engineer, Dan Andreana's group, DaDa Frolic ... http://orangepunch.com/df-trailer

Re Dada Frolic: I posted a couple of tracks from them in a blogpost of yore: blog.wfmu.org...

Good old Dan Andreana! He and I used to live close by in Brooklyn and drive out to East Orange together.
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:31pm Cage:

I'm a friend of Dan's and he is alive and well up here in the Hudson Valley ... Tuesday 2/21 DaDa Frolic plays a rare live show at The Stone
  Tue. 2/14/12 1:38pm Cage:

Loving this Arthur Doyle!

@ Doug and Tony: I definitely will give your regards to Dan and Detta .... Cheers
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 2:08pm tonyc:

By the way, I forgot to show you my jazz credentials: I was back to back with Phil Schaap on WKCR for many years. Plus, when I was in college I was once invited to sit in with a band containing members of Sun Ra's Arkestra -- being profoundly unqualified, I wisely failed to show up for the concert.
  Tue. 2/14/12 2:10pm Doug S.:

The governor of Massachusetts is the son of Sun Ra sideman Pat Patrick. (Good times!)
Avatar    Tue. 2/14/12 2:11pm tonyc:

Doug: Is that really true? Wow! Didn't know....
  Tue. 2/14/12 2:14pm Dan in Seattle:

Deval Patrick!
  Tue. 2/14/12 2:16pm Doug S.:

I've got to run out. Great show Tony! Tonight on Give the Drummer Some (6-7pm) I will be playing nothing but broken-hearted tunes. Happy Valentines!
  Tue. 2/14/12 2:16pm conrad:

wiki sez: "Patrick was born on the South Side of Chicago, where his family resided in a two-bedroom apartment in Robert Taylor Homes housing projects. In 1959, his father Laurdine "Pat" Patrick, a member of jazz musician Sun Ra's band, left his wife Mae (née Wintersmith),[3] Deval, and their daughter, Rhonda (who is one year Deval's senior) in order to play music in New York City[4] and because he had fathered a daughter by another woman.[5] Deval reportedly had a strained relationship with his father, who opposed his choice of high school, but they eventually reconciled."

Amazing. Hope Mass. is getting those cosmic vibrations.
