  Thu. 2/9/12 9:14am pierre:

i don't want to sound like a person who would point out things that doesn't work, but the link for Jessy Bulbo seems, if not broken, at least, invalid.
Avatar    Thu. 2/9/12 9:15am taurus:

NO, metal is job. SIGH. it's tough not being able to read.
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:43am still b/p:

I once saw the amazing Tenores di Bitti singing similar songs live, without really knowing what I was about to see/hear, and will never forget it.
Meanwhile, at much lower levels of mind-blowing...I've decided Float On should be included in the non-traditional campfire songs to be performed at an annual party next fall...if I can FORCE everyone to comply.
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:43am Raf:

Morning, Jason!
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:44am BSI:

Thu. 2/9/12 9:51am Pete the Flicker:

Tenores de Aterúe! Wow, what a great sound. They are singing in Italian, or is there a Sardinian dialect. I was tuned on to the Tenores de Onifrios years ago. They have a couple of great albums. I think the best example of what they do is "Ployphonic singing ffom Sardinia".
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:52am Cecile:

This is why I love music and FMU. ALways something new and interesting every day.
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:54am pierre:

@Cecile & Cheri : if you take over the world, could you make flights tickets to New Jersey free, from Paris?
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:55am Cecile:

Sure, pierre.
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:58am Cheri Pi:

Cecile-I'll chop you with my axe and make millions of you, world domination is ours. Can that be our next record? Someone tell Diane.
  Thu. 2/9/12 9:59am Cecile:

Oh, damn, speaking of that.
Cheri, I'm sorry. The drawing muse is distracting me from any writing. :( I'm a lame-o.

Both directions? Yo, Jersey storm at Orly! Outa my way!!!!

There's a BitTorrent based but serverless program called Tribler, which cannot be taken down by the man... one of many software solutions to the same problem, btw. Still people preferred those shady sharehosters, They had it coming. Pity those fools.

  Thu. 2/9/12 10:36am Daniel:

Is Keiko Kina the wife of Shoukichi Kina? I remember she had an achingly lovely song called Hana.
  Thu. 2/9/12 10:40am annie:

thanks cecile!!!
  Thu. 2/9/12 10:40am Cecile:

are we supposed to guess? Sao Paolo or Brasilia?
  Thu. 2/9/12 10:40am Daniel:

I looked her up, I guess she's Shoukichi's sister. She has a Maybelle Carter thing going on sometimes. Thanks for playing that!

Bloody marvellous show today, Jason!! Thank you kindly!

@Yair- Did you ever work on 23rd street in the early 90's or late 80's and listen to PTV? Kodachrome ring a bell?
  Thu. 2/9/12 10:58am Tom G:

Jason -- I was just going to ask you to play something on NGL. RIP Brendon. Terrible loss. I bought everything he released, loved the zine too. Very sad.

@Marm K@10:49, I've been to Bangkok and Bangkok is definitely not that pretty! Could it be Kuala Lumpur? It has an unreal sheen though... I like the Glowing One's suggestion from 10:32.

i always land on my feet
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:23am JT:

  Thu. 2/9/12 11:26am Caryn:

The park does look like Bangkok's Lumpini Park.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:28am nyc:

how's the b-side on that new so cow single?
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:32am Cecile:

he worked with an obscure little band called REM, too.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:40am Ike:

You have a point, @Caryn. I'm not familiar with that part of the city. I must visit Lumpini Park next time.
Avatar    Thu. 2/9/12 11:42am jason:

the city is Shenzen, China!
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:43am Marmalade Kitty:

Caryn: we were closest! ;)
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:44am Caryn:

Yay!
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:46am Ike:

Ah! Yeah, I was about to say the mountains seemed wrong for Bangkok. The old-style Chinese building w/the red roof in the park should have tipped me off.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:48am G:

I didn't recognize it. Shenzen is the financial center (let's say the NYC) of Guangdong province, where everyone's i-thingies are made. It is mainland China's eventual would-be substitute for Hong Kong, which they didn't have control of till recent years, and the Chinese government still probably doesn't trust.

So the people in those skyscraper offices arrange all the commercial loans and contracts for Apple manufacturing, would be my guess. City populatiopn, over ten million (larger than the five boros of NYC).
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:49am Caryn:

Isn't Shenzen the place where they built the park with the replicas of world landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Collisseum etc.)?
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:50am Parq:

Well, I knew it wasn't Kuala Lampur because those twin towers are many meters apart and have a bridge at the middle. Now the question is, is it an accurate (if idealistic) portrayal of present-day Shenzen, or some crackpot visionary's idea of how the city would look if only we {insert grandiose scheme here}?
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:52am earwax:

Paul McCartney Pulls His Albums from 'All Streaming Services...' http://bit.ly/w7Otnb
smart move - I think not. Not that I care.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:53am Caryn:

Well, most of those buildings are real (e.g. Google image search has that big tower from so many angles, it's there in reality). I do wonder if they've cleaned up the colours to make the place look less polluted.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:53am Paying Downloaders:

He can kiss our bottoms, the old coot.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:57am still b/p:

Speaking of crackpotty...I looked at many other images of Asian skyscrapers & cities to see if I could ID that location and win the giant prize today. But I don't win the car, or the steak knives.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:58am G:

It might actually look kinda new. The place was a fishing village till 1979, when the central govt choase it to be made a "special economic zone" -- so nothing you see is more than 20-30 years old, and most buildings are newer than that. It's now the largest commercial/port city in China, after Shanghai and Hong Kong.
  Thu. 2/9/12 11:59am Ike:

A Google image search reveals more pictures of Shenzhen that look a bit unreal. The greens are too intense. Over-gammaed, maybe. This is prob. more like it:
http://tiny.cc/shenzhen1
  Thu. 2/9/12 12:00pm Caryn:

@b/p: same here. Some nutty and some gorgeous designs for future houses. And some weird existing buildings too. I now want to visit a lot of places. Singapore Sky Park, anyone?
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:15pm @renatadamico:
