Hey Dan. Used to listen to snippets of your show after the preceding episode of For the Record back about a couple years ago. Speaking of that, what's your opinion of Dave Emory? =)

Mon. 2/6/12 9:52pm
Dan B:
@All, thanks for all the suggestions of albums that didn't use something or other in the recording! @Taylor, I'd say enter the Necks via Sex (one of their first). Also great is Next, another early album, with several long tracks rather than the single track most albums have; for more recent stuff, you can't go wrong with Townsville, Silverwater (what I use for a bed when I talk), and the new one Mindset. |

@Steve-O, I haven't ever met Dave Emory so I don't have an opinion of the man. Always wanted to do a show when I followed him that would just consist of me layering and remixing multiple shows of his and running them through effects, etc. His radio presence is very entrancing. |

forcedexposure.com has most of their titles at more reasonable prices. You have to find a distributor affiliated with their label (ReR Megacorp), which is based in the UK. I think all the Necks albums are import. |

sounds good to me, dan. the easiest to get large-sized non-scrip D pills are 2000, so i said 4000 or 6000. if doc says 5000 and he can get you there without you having to cut oil-filled pills, go for it. 2000-unit pills are not expensive OTC, if by chance he is directing you toward an expensive presciption form. your call!

Mon. 2/6/12 11:02pm
G:
If Dan's been tested as D starved, 5000 daily is not high. I've seen people prescribed higher. I knew someone last year who initially tested for D at 8 or 9 (very, very low) and was given a 50,000 injection weekly for eight weeks (which is close 7000 a day). That took her up to 25 or so, after which she was stepped back to one non-prescription 2000 pill a day. I know many people who take 2000 or 4000 a day if they spend little time in the sun, with no reports of joint pain. (Direct sun on exposed skin creates lots of D within minutes, which is why we modern indoor people are often low on D.) I wouldn't recommend going north of 4000 a day without a test that showed a really low substrate D level.
|
Mon. 2/6/12 11:04pm
Wendy del Formaggio:
Okay, I've held out as long as I can, I have to go to sleep now. Thanks for the great tunes, Dan! Hi and bye, Destroit!

Who wants say no to the great sun-filled day because damn, I already got my dose of D in synthetic pill form and if I double that, I tread into toxic territory. Vitamin C, unlike D, is simply excreted in urea when it peaks over the body's limits.

Professor Dum-dum is as annoying as a generic "morning zoo" deejay. It hurts my throat to hear his forced accent. What's he doing on the air during adult hours? Surely for the under-10 set. Although I like some of the music he plays, I have to turn him off.

|
Mon. 2/6/12 11:30pm
Sandy:
I met Hedy in London in the late '90s... The music part of the Boo-Hooray exhibit wasn't organized very well. The announcements that were supposed to go up on the web about scheduled programmed listenings were never posted. I was there one afternoon but nobody could tell me what I was listening to exactly (date, personnel, etc.).... In the visual show, I was struck by a couple statements by Angus concerning death (of all things). I scribbled them on something, have them somewhere... Rather optimistic, looking forward...
