yay all Freds are here! hi Fred!
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:18am listener mark:

Hmmm! "twee " is defined as obnoxiously sweet.
Avatar Tue. 1/24/12 3:20am Julie:

Yeah I connect it to all those wispy voiced girls who were on K records in the 90s
Tue. 1/24/12 3:24am fred von helsing:

maybe that's the appeal of yé-yé... it takes twee to another level :)
Avatar Tue. 1/24/12 3:25am Julie:

@FVH yes!
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:26am Marmalade kitty:

Hi there MK.. Juliana is somewhat twee, although she's a little more rockin than most. Lois was VERY twee
Avatar Tue. 1/24/12 3:27am Julie:

Juliana says the occasional oddball thing on twitter..it's funny to hear her now
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:31am listener mark:

This isn't so bad. Turn up the twee a couple more notches.
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:32am miss cheri:

I'm sure enough people are playing her to get your fill ;)
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:43am fred:

@Julie and MK: do you like Juliana's record from last year?
  Tue. 1/24/12 3:43am listener mark:

I feel a sinister undertone in these tunes, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like a Quentin Tarantino movie, happy go lucky until the gun or knife appears.

Avatar Tue. 1/24/12 4:20am Julie:

@MK special enough I bought the 3-cd set, not sure about those other Floyd deluxe releases. I've played probably every song on it, so time to do the mono versions!
  Tue. 1/24/12 4:21am listener mark:

The only Pink Floyd Album under the leadership of Syd Barret~~ "Piper at the Gates of Dawn"
  Tue. 1/24/12 4:22am Marmalade kitty:

I nearly always prefer mono! ?? I just do
Avatar Tue. 1/24/12 4:23am Julie:

Boo has some wonderful dark songs. I really wish she'd come out of retirement. Maybe it's time for the yearly nudge @Mark there is a little Syd on Saucerful, which I think overall is in the same vein. Not quite the masterpiece as Piper, but good nonetheless. Even though I forget to write it, I think they were actually THE Pink Floyd

  Tue. 1/24/12 5:03am (mta) Tony:

Yes Julie, you're right; I misheard you while not reading your playlist. I thought I heard you say you didn't know the name of the album. My mistake about that, but your show is utterly terrific. Thanks for the musical turn-ons.

Tue. 1/24/12 5:45am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, I checked wiki to see if this was the first release of this song, that was actually Lou Johnson, but Sandie sang it very soon after in '64. So many people have recorded that!

Magnificent show Julie! Have a great week everyone!

Do you have the Smile box set? I got my Dad that for Christmas. Still need to listen to them, but they have an ENTIRE CD devoted to "Good Vibrations" sessions. I love that song, but the sessions I've heard are amazing!

And like Brian Wilson's Smile album, this has the "full" album version of Good Vibrations that was supposed to be on the Smile album but never was released.

Thanks Julie...goodnight & good morning!

Brian De Palma tends to "rip off" (Alfred) Hitchcock in his filmmaking style :)

@Julie: "robbin" Hitchcock. It's probably a Clay-ism, I know! :)

I'm so goth that...oh wait. That was last week. And I'm not so goth anyway.

Hey archive genie! Serve this show up for me...time to dig in!

Great show so far...Eliza! I recognize this song for sure...wondering if it was the live in studio version? And this must be in tribute to her album finally being finished...? :)
  Tue. 1/24/12 9:26am Julie:

that's the one she did live on my show

Show remains strong! Suddenly one of my favorite Abba songs comes on!
Tue. 1/24/12 10:14am Van in DC:

Ah okay...saw your reply Julie, and just heard you say that was Eliza's live version from your show last year :)

Especially those by Sid Floyd. I love it :)

Up to Jefferson Airplane...still loving the show...must say that the Ausgang didn't touch my fancy very much. I think I'd prefer Nina Hagen :) Heck, both are German, right? I mean "Ausgang" is "Exit"...

Enjoyed the show!

Oh and hey, for a 17 minute song? "Mind Train" by Yoko Ono is very nearly that! Heard Doug play this on his GTDS show...what a mind blowing song :)

I think T.A.T.U’s second album Dangerous and Moving totally deserves a second look. I like it better than the first one. The track “Cosmos” especially.
