I have always turned my nose up at tea unless I'm sick, and even then I'm not a fan. But! I'm trying to understand where the tea people are coming from, because it has always mystified me. |

Tea once in awhile when it's a nice pot of the good stuff (Teaism here in DC), otherwise coffee all the way.

Nasal Stylings:
Tea is superior to coffee when your breakfast is full of greasy meats because of the astringency. But I agree that if you want coffee (or tea), then tea (or coffee) is not a reasonable substitute. Also from Boulder.
|
Mon. 1/16/12 10:45am
glenn:
although, when i go for pho, i always have green tea. coffee just wouldn't work in that situation.

Detroit Mac:
You want a tea that zaps you better than coffee? Try Morning Thunder. It is full of Yerba Mate. I like both Tea and Coffee, but too much coffee gives me disturbing heart arrhythmia... so I drink more tea than coffee
|
Mon. 1/16/12 10:46am
pierre:
In any of those beverages, water remains the important ingredient. So water for me.

The real problem with demon tea is getting them into the little bags before you brew it.

Hello Nasal Stylings.....I bet we work in the same building!!! Or not... Hot Coffee Cocoa.....Mocha Madness!

Mon. 1/16/12 10:54am
Nasal Stylings:
How I stopped drinking coffee and started drinking tea: My Colombian (!) wife and I took a trip to Ireland and I always embarrass myself by going native. Irish breakfasts are replete with meat, not to mention non-Cosby puddings. The only acids to be found were the omnipresent roasted half-tomato and Assam-heavy Irish breakfast tea. I also tend to be tightly wound, so the tea is probably better for my nerves. I still prefer coffee with dessert, or dessert-like breakfasts. Can't we all just get along?
|
Mon. 1/16/12 10:54am
Detroit Mac:
The REAL question here should be: Paper or Plastic. If you are paying for a good cup of joe - it has to be in a ceramic cup.
|
Mon. 1/16/12 10:55am
yoman:
Detroit Mac: OTOH, my spouse can't handle any of that stuff. We knew caffeine was a no-no, but she had some ginseng tea put her in the cardiac emergency unit. It was a little too exciting.
|
Mon. 1/16/12 10:56am
Mike:
Hey Nasal, I fell in love with Irish breakfasts after a visit a few years back....those are most certainly non-Cosby puddings!!

Mac, I came pretty close to arrhythmia once when I had some real strong coffee and then some chocolate coated espresso beans. Bad move. Had to pull off the highway to catch my breath. Actually sort of scary.

My favorite caffeine OD was buying a bunch of coffee bean centered malted milk balls and seeing the movie "Traffic" at a 99 cent show. I scarfed all these chocolatey coffee beans, by the time I left the movie I could hear snails walk :-D

now that is surprising to hear max goldt in an american radio show. even among germans, his musik is rather unknown compared to his books, because he is rather known for writing nowadays, well, i'm close to tears though
|
Mon. 1/16/12 11:13am
Detroit Mac:
Yeah: Mate tastes fairly awful, but it fun to pass around like a bong when it is served Argentine style in a silver cup with a silver straw! (gourmets cultivate the taste of "Bitter" over "Sweet" as bitter flavors can be much more complex and identifiable.)

Reading back in the discussion here: I do coffee M-W-F-Sa mornings, but tea on T-Th-Su. J.T. is tea only, and we are both cat people (though I appreciate other people's dogs very much). Wonder what does that show?
