Listener comments!

  11:58am
listener james from westwood:

my conference call participants are gonna hear the scenario in the background whether they like it or not!
  12:00pm
Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back, Amanda!
  12:00pm
Skirkie:

Might need you to play crappy stuff for about 12 minutes while I go pick up a sandwich.
  12:01pm
Amanda:

Hi everybunny! Skirkie, your suggestion has been noted and rejected.
  12:04pm
Skirkie:

Well maybe I'll just starve then!
  12:06pm
Sandwich Guy:

Hey, if you starve, I starve.
  12:08pm
fxo:

nice to see you at the holiday soiree
  12:08pm
Amanda:

Have him deliver to you and tip him handsomely. Everybody wins!
  12:08pm
Everybunny:

You've got us hopping happy, Amanda!
  12:10pm
Adler:

I wish I went to high school with Amanda
  12:12pm
Adler:

... that's if I had to do it all over - I don't wish to attend high school now.
  12:16pm
Joe D.:

Adler needs to infiltrate St. Peter's like, 21 Jump Street style
  12:17pm
Mike VL:

oooh..can't wait for that pogo friendly Premium!
  12:17pm
Joe D.:

hey amanda can you play the theme song to 21 jump street?
  12:19pm
Skirkie:

If your high school had girls in it, it was better than mine.
  12:20pm
glenn:

friends don't give friends mix tapes to other friends.
  12:20pm
Joe D.:

Your friends will be there when your back is to the wall.
You'll find you'll need us cause there's no one else to call.
When it was hopeless a decision is what you need.

You'd better be ready to, be ready to jump.
21 Jump Street.
  12:22pm
Danne D:

Yay :) How are you Amanda? Hi folks
  12:23pm
Danne D:

Lots of celebrities too on the boards. @fxo - I'll forward you the picture I took of you and Keili and @amnazz I'll send pix to you too.

Of course one problem with the party was the lack of Skirkie content :(
  12:26pm
Skirkie:

I got en email about that Friday afternoon. And forgot about it until about 8:30 PM Saturday.
  12:26pm
pgw in mntclr:

these last two songs make me nostalgic for Shrimper cassettes
  12:28pm
Danne D:

*sigh* well you were certainly missed, sir
  12:30pm
Danne D:

Yay Romantics :)
  12:31pm
Skirkie:

Suuuure I was.
  12:31pm
Amanda:

@glenn -- You'll notice I was careful to protect all parties' anonymity.

@Joe -- Did you see the remake they are doing?!?! With Jonah Hill? WTF?

@Skirkie -- It had girls in it. ONLY girls! So yes, it was much better.

Hi Mike VL! I thought of you when I came up with the concept for that premium, fer sher.
  12:32pm
Doug S.:

Hey, thanks for retweeting, Danne, you're a superstar!

Skirkie:

I meant high schools in general. Logically, I could deduce that Amanda's high school had at least one girl.
  12:37pm
Troublemaker:

Amanda was a GIRL???? :-P
  12:38pm
Danne D:

@Doug S have to get the word about GTDR and AmNazz :) My pleasure :)

@Skirkie in fact I noted the lack of Skirkie content at the party. I believe the direct quote was "Where's Skirkie?"
  12:39pm
Danne D:

I then proceeded to have another Birch Beer
  12:41pm
Skirkie:

Well shucks.
  12:42pm
efd:

Hi Amanda & all - always nice to hear from my fellow Beantownians Piper!
  12:42pm
Brian in UK:

What does esoteric chatter mean in this context?

PS Hello Amanda & chums.
  12:42pm
pgw in mntclr:

that Piper song just set off the Squier alarm in my building
  12:43pm
Danne D:

EFD! Hello sir :) Hey Brian and pgw and folks I may missed out on saying hey to (e.g. MVL)
  12:44pm
Danne D:

@skirkie I also now recall that I mentioned your heroism in being in the pledge room organizing cards and keeping totals (front room of Maxwell's) during prior Hoof n Mouths away from where the live music was
  12:45pm
Danne D:

(though you did manage to make it to Tom's perforrmance that night as I recall dodging the most pit you and Amanda were creating)
  12:48pm
ndbob:

greetings Amanda and everyone
  12:51pm
Brian in UK:

ndbob, hello.
  12:51pm

  1:02pm
Amanda:

Welcome back, Listener James from Westwood! (I don't use your full name often enough.)
  1:07pm
Skirkie:

Amanda was creating the mosh pit, Danne D. I was simply the unwitting instrument.
  1:11pm
Amanda:

Memories!
  1:12pm
Danne D:

Uh huh - sure. I got it on video (well okay actually what I have on video is a tiny snippet of Skirkie while I was hightailing it to a safer position). That reminds me, I still need to send that to Scharpling.
  1:13pm
Danne D:

Anyway, I have to sneak out to get food :( Hold down the fort, Skirkie! I shall return!
  1:14pm
Skirkie:

  1:24pm
listener james from westwood:

  1:24pm
Brian in UK:

Island were a cool independent label in the 60s. How long can you remain independent when you are successful?
  1:25pm
Brian in UK:

Loved the pink record centres too.
  1:28pm
Brian in UK:

Fuck prog rock. Best PR track Barclay James Harvest 'Need You Oh So Bad' 15 seconds long.
Oh can I right prog rock or will it incur FCC wrath?
  1:28pm
Skirkie:

2-20: President's Day, I have off, so I could actually phone slave in the middle of the day.
  1:30pm
Dan in Seattle:

When do we pledge?
  1:33pm
G:

You can pledge any old time on the home page.

But fear not. If you listen once weekly or more, you will NOT be able to miss the marathon weeks. :-)
  1:34pm
glenn:

right after endusting and windexing
  1:34pm
listener james from westwood:

@Dan: Now, thru the upper-left part of the homepage, if you were so inclined. Still has the older swag on it, but hell, money is needed 24/7 @ the magic factory!
  1:35pm
Amanda:

Pledge anytime! If you do it during the marathon, we'll announce your name on the air. The shows will let you know how, when you listen. There's also a big pre-marathon mailing going out very soon which you'll get if you're on the WFMU mailing list.
  1:36pm
listener james from westwood:

gotta hit my social network pals for money. what the hell is the internet for if not harvesting matching pledges from kin and friends?
  1:36pm
Amanda:

@glenn you are really on fire with those puns today
  1:39pm
glenn:

the brewery thing isn't a pun.
  1:41pm
Amanda:

It can still be a pun if it's a true story! Porter/porter counts as a pun in my book.
  1:41pm
glenn:

Danne D:

(aha so Charlie is #6!)
  2:57pm
Doug S.:

@Danne D
We are bringing back the amazing 1-hour show Steinski produced for WFMU back in 1994/5. These shows have never been archived or heard since their original broadcast (except briefly on a small station in Alaska—true story.)

This show is going to run at Noon on Friday, right after Give the Drummer Some. I will be "hosting" the show and Steve Stein (Steinski) will pop in on the comments whenever he can!

This show debuts on the stream on Friday, January 20. At noon.

Thanks for asking!
  2:57pm
Danne D:

Happy Pre-Birthday, Amanda :)
Have a good day everyone
  2:57pm
listener james from westwood:

charlie is not a number! charlie is a free man!
  2:57pm
Danne D:

WHOA!! STEINSKI is #6? Wooooooooo

Awesome :) That is great news indeed.
  2:58pm
Doug S.:

Actually Charlie is #5. If your count my TWO shows, there are seven! w00t!
  2:58pm
listener james from westwood:

  2:58pm
Danne D:

For those who weren't around FMU back then - "A Rough Mix" will be appointment listening for you. Seriously.
  2:59pm
Danne D:

And with that. Take care!
  2:59pm
Doug S.:

This is not to be confused with the second round of A Rough Mix did during the summer of '07.
  2:59pm
Amanda:

Goodbye all! Godspeed, and see you again next week. Mwah.
  3:00pm
Brian in UK:

Glenn .... and Dusty Springfield is really Doris Blenkinsop. So. Reg is the king of crop circles. Respect.
