Clay:
Hi ? and Kata | |
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:10pm
Clay:
I am so tired. 1 1/2 hrs. of zzzzz. I sounded so zombie-like with Fab and Julie. Brainfry. Also, that kid who answered, "No," as to wether or not he loves America ... he went on to say ... "Well, I do like some of the people." So I kind of mis-represented him.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:13pm
dale:
hey clay and jules. clay pigeon is the great mediator!

Thu. 11/17/11 6:13pm

|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:14pm
dale:
i was gonna ask if it's a bit awkward or off putting when someone says they hate the u.s. do you ever want to say "why don't you move, then?'
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:14pm
Bas, NL:
Hey Clay, all your effort is showing... great interviews again.

I love when you ask: "do you love America? Such interesting answers..
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:16pm
Clay:
It's not awkward, Dale. People say all kinds of stuff for all kinds of reasons. North Dakota!!!!!

|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:17pm
cglenn:
enjoying the show Clay...
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:18pm
Matt from Springfield:
Mercury hasn't been removed from flu shots. The shot is only for that specific virus of the season, won't necessarily prevent you from getting the flu, could have adverse side effects including death, all to prevent an uncomfortable illness. That's why "I don't believe in" flu shots.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:18pm
Dan:
Hi Clay! Listening out in San Carlos, CA.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:18pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:
I probably wouldn't get a shot from some random dude in the park. But these people are a little over the top.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:18pm
Matt from Springfield:
Hi Mike! But be proud--Uppercase Yourself!
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:19pm
Clay:
Thank you Mike and Glennard
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:19pm
BZ:
This woman freaking out about flu shots... makes me feel like my paranoia with injections is foolish. I hate pharmaceuticals, but people who scream Big Pharma Big Pharma can be hysterically taxing. Clay, top notch!
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:20pm
Clay:
Hello Dan and Dave. | |
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:22pm

Thu. 11/17/11 6:23pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:
That guy is right. They need to vote people into the system.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:23pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Mike: Awesome! Let me know how that is!
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:24pm
Clay:
I think I freaked Anthony out. I like him, though. Awesome singer. I apologized for ambushing him. But then he probably thought I was even weirder.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:25pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Dave: True--but, a movement is not a policy. The pressure they have put on Wall Street has already circulated throughout the country, getting people to talk about inequality and plutocracy. People running for office might now focus on those issues.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:25pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:
Do you walk around with a press badge or something?
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:26pm
Clay:
No Badge .... just act like I know what I'm doing.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:26pm
mrmucho:
so clay is next week's show from Riker's?
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:28pm
Clay:
May be so, Mucho! | |
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:28pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:
Matt - I agree, and I understand that it is currently a movement. It really has done a good job of getting people to talk about these issues. There is a lot of talk now about "next steps". The Tea Party actually did a good job of sympathetic people. I think there is always going to be a disconnect between the elected officials and the 99% until some people get voted out.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:28pm
Matt from Springfield:
DAVID PEEL!!! I've been waiting for him to appear in your OWS shows!
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:29pm
other david:
Great insight into the protest Clay - historians, ethnographers, everyone, will be devouring this series of interviews for years to come. It's priceless.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:30pm

I thought he would be down here, and I found out he indeed was. Clay already interviewed him at the Union Square Pot Rally! I was waiting for a clip of him here! David Peel and the Lower East Side LIVES!!

|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:33pm

Thu. 11/17/11 6:35pm
dale:
gotta say the mayor is a big douche for letting this swell, saying it's okay for people to camp out and then come in at 1 am with the riot squad.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:36pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:
Yeah, this is the best coverage I have experienced. Most media outlets don't give a lot of detail. This makes it real.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:37pm
kata:
I just learned Bloomberg is the 12th richest person in the country. You all probably know that already.. Not that being rich is "bad" of course...
|

phillip:
Great show as always Clay. I have alot of catching up to do with the last few weeks.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:41pm
Clay:
I think I still have to 'fix' one of the Occupy shows. Phasing issues. Now I just dub to cassette like the good old days, and everything is fine.

Matt from Springfield:
Matt Taibbi: "What happened on Wall Street over the past decade was an unparalleled crime wave. Yet at most, maybe 1,500 federal agents were policing that beat – and that little group of financial cops barely made any cases at all. Yet when thousands of ordinary people hit the streets with the express purpose of obeying the law and demonstrating their patriotism through peaceful protest, the police response is immediate and massive. There have already been hundreds of arrests, which is hundreds more than we ever saw during the years when Wall Street bankers were stealing billions of dollars from retirees and mutual-fund holders and carpenters unions through the mass sales of fraudulent mortgage-backed securities."
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:46pm
Clay:
Man, I wish I was out there today. Had to finish this show. Check it out if you can!
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:46pm
kata:
right on @Matt ! | |
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:47pm
Matt from Springfield:
It's sad that NYPD raided Occupy Wall Street--but I agree with Matt Taibbi: when there's a massive police response, arrests and pepper spray to people exercising their First Amendment rights, yet no one in the skyscrapers above is held accountable, that contrast only supports their cause.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:47pm
david:
Clay pulling an all nighter for the cause. Lovin it.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:47pm

20 members of OWS have been marching from Wall Street to Washington DC, stopping by other Occupy GAs on the way. They're supposed to arrive on Nov 23--I may go down to greet them, talk to them.
|
Thu. 11/17/11 6:56pm
Clay:
Do it, Matt! | |

Great & inspiring show! I rushed home from work to listen, but missed part with WoodyGuth3 singing "Burn, Baby, Burn!" Last Sunday, someone at Liberty Park mentioned he heard me on your show, & I was very happy! Thank you & keep up the great work! "We'll occupy wall street til we occupy your thoughts; we're the 99% and we cannot be bought."
