A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Listener comments!

  Tue. 11/15/11 9:08am trouble:

good morning wonderful souls
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:08am hamburger:

hello - gawd I wish I was lyin' in a field somewhere now.. instead I will lie in the field OF THE MIND, by my desk...
Tue. 11/15/11 9:08am Brian in UK:

Hello trouble & listeners. Sublime sunny late autumn day here. Last of the leaves waiting to fall if they did but know it.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:09am Jennique:

GOOD MORNING TROUBLE! Home sick today. Love the art as always. The white shapes look like little sheep or dogs. Seeing spots on my end, I guess.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:10am AbeSomething:

This is a really beautiful track.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:18am trouble:

howdy hamburger, brian in the uK, and jennique! i agree the shapes do look like animals, i am on the same drugs you are today apparently.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:21am trouble:

artwork is a 16th century turkish tile from the newly opened arab lands wing at the Metropolitan museum, gorgeous show, see it if you can. brought tears to my eyes to imagine manycontemporaries in those lands hell bent on erasing each other from the planet.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:22am earwax:

This m83 track is wonderful also
Tue. 11/15/11 9:22am Adrian in London:

Morning all. I see a couple of sealions in the tile. Is this your way of discerning the mental health of your listeners, Rorshach-style?!
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:24am trouble:

it is not the mental health of my listeners i question ( how could i? wink) but the vibe of the power mongers at large: Zuccotti park was evacuated/seized last night, under the cloak of darkness
Tue. 11/15/11 9:26am Dave in SoDak:

Bring back Andalusia - all religions respected, all people respected, all peace cherished. Enlightenment in a difficult age. The tile makes me feel this way.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:27am Cecile:

Gorgeous. I have a soft spot for Turkey, my childhood best friend's dad from there. He shared wonderful food, art and (in retrospect) music with us.

Love Gilbert.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:28am Avant Reguard:

this is gilbert o sullivan. His from my hometown of waterford city, ireland. i recognise his voice. i come from waterford city. i live in alexanderplatz berlin germany. i am a filmmaker and a maker of sounds. your playing of G.O.S is, though slightly tongue in cheek and rather kitschy, a nice gesture that G.O.S would appreciate.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:28am Lucky:

Beautiful start of the show. According to the BBC the Zuccotti Park prtestors have moved to near by Foley Square. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15734936
Tue. 11/15/11 9:30am Brian in UK:

We visited Istanbul last year and your picture reminds me of Rustem Pasha Mosque. Quite beautiful, building & tiles in the middle of the Spice bizarre!!
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=rustem+pasha+mosque&hl=en&rlz=1R2RNTN_enGB330&biw=1024&bih=546&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tnbCTpSCKMnQ8gP6gan_Aw&sqi=2&ved=0CDQQsAQ
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:33am Cecile:

Just play the whole thing. It will make you feel better.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:34am healey:

good good tuesday morning to you wonderful trouble, and to all who dwell in the modern world :-)
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:37am Jennique:

I thought this looked like tile. I've always loved Islamic tile patterns that make my head spin to infinity. Speaking of head spinning, I have to check out for a bit. Will check back in a while,,,,
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:37am glenn:

cast iron church in istanbul - http://www.360cities.net/image/the-bulgarian-st-stephen-church-istanbul#333.90,0.00,94.7
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:42am Cecile:

she sounds a little like Nina Simone here. I am still blown away by how much good Brazilian music was made in the 70s.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:45am trouble:

cecile, my guest last week, wolmar, gave me this record and that is exactly how he described her! she is so great and why doesn't everyone know about her?
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:47am Cecile:

Information overload! Everything's getting unearthed.

Is this record reissued? It's pretty swell.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:47am Rob W:

There is a court order calling for the protesters to be allowed back into Zuccoti WITH their tents - hearing scheduled for 11 am. Hard to tell from the press coverage how good the chances are of a return to full occupation - could realistically be nil or maybe it's actually possible - not clear. Source: http://www.cnbc.com/id/45303217.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:50am trouble:

good morning philadelphia! healey i have friends who are heading to the mutter museum next weekend, any suggestions on anything else nearby, food, etc?
Tue. 11/15/11 9:54am pgw in mntclr:

i would suggest eating after the mutter visit, just in case
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:55am Cecile:

I think maybe the protesters should just mill down the rich people shopping districts peacefully and in masse on Black Friday. Go in to stores and buy the equivalent of a pack of gum.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:56am Cecile:

inconvenience is a powerful motivator. Basically just say "if you don't listen to us, we will come and peacefully shop EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR."
Tue. 11/15/11 9:57am Adrian in London:

Having just Googled it, I'm rather disappointed to discover the the Mutter Museum is not, in fact, a museum dedicated to muttering, sotte voce comments and Chinese whispers.
  Tue. 11/15/11 9:57am Rob W:

Finally made it to that groovy E Village record shop you've long recommended - Tropicalia in Furs, 304 East 5th Street (they do have some great stuff). I could only stay for a couple of minutes but while in there I overhead a youngster from Minneapolis saying how she heard about it on FMU (I bet your show, Trouble). I think you and/or the station deserve a kickback! (Um, just kidding FCC...)
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:00am Cecile:

that's so cool, Rob.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:01am trouble:

rob w, the kickback is the dude who runs it, joael, is the nicest sweetheart!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:01am healey:

i live right by the mutter museum and there is a lot to do in the area! other things that are close: academy of the natural sciences, philadelphia museum of art, rodin museum, PAFA...
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:01am trouble:

cecile, i like that idea...
Tue. 11/15/11 10:02am Dave in SoDak:

I was a youngster in Minneapolis back in the day and hung out for hours upon hours at a stellar shop called Oarfolkjokeopus. Wonder if it's still around... Twin Cities had some pretty great record shops.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:02am Marmalade Kitty:

Loving the show Trouble.
hopefully the protest will continue to adapt to circumstances as it has done so well. not the end but the beginning, thats the spirit!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:04am Rob W:

Philadelphia's secret weapon (restaurant-wise): Indonesian food! We had an excellent meal at the lively Indonesia Restaurant, 1725 Snyder Ave. There are also Indonesian groceries in the same South Philly neighborhood with prepared street food and treats. For a few listings and restaurant / menu reccomendations see: http://www.yelp.com/list/indonesian-philly-philadelphia.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:04am Cecile:

Dave, it is! It is now called Treehouse, a play on the last name of its long time manager. It's still good.
Electric Fetus is still good, and we have a Shuga records now too. I haven't been to the 5th Element, but the Rhymesayers run it, so it's probably great.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:05am Andrew:

Sounds marshy!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:06am Cecile:

Oh, and Hymie and Hazen's moved to a new location - somewhat closer to the city and next to a coffee shop.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:08am healey:

rob I've never been to that restaurant! it sounds great. a few of my favorite places to eat are mccrossens tavern, pub and kitchen (both good for beers/excellent food), vietnam restaurant (in chinatown), tinto and zahav (for something a lil' fancier), dmitris (several locations, great greek/mediterranean)....i could go on :)
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:09am Cecile:

Kylesa! yay!
heavy metal girl power.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:09am Cecile:

even just watching Food Network, I now want to eat my way through Philly.
Tue. 11/15/11 10:10am Dave in SoDak:

Cecile, what about Northern Lights, next to Shinders downtown?
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:11am Andrew:

Occupiers here in Halifax, NS got the boot from police over the weekend too. On Remembrance Day, when they relocated temporarily to make room for the veterans' ceremony. Shameful!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:12am cokane:

Always love Trouble's bird background, but they're especially needed today.
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:14am Cecile:

that has been gone for a long, long time.
Even worse, one of the Shinders heirs got caught with drugs and guns and so now all the Shinders are gone. It's pretty awful.
On the bright side, First Avenue added a restaurant and it's surprisingly good!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:15am Guuzbourg:

Bonjour Trouble

Tue. 11/15/11 10:27am Emily and Patrick:

  Tue. 11/15/11 10:35am stu:

Good morning Trouble and the Modern World ! When we are here we are not so troubled anymore ! If I were in NYC today I would occupy Foley Sq ! Cold and dark in Finland, but the music brightens up our afternoon! cheers Trouble!
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:35am trouble:

o hello emily and patrick! salt water kisses to u both
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:39am Cecile:

I don't think this was what Curtis Mayfield meant by "keep on pushing"
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:42am trouble:

hey stu! i thought foley square was your little shout out to the cause, very clever you finns...
  Tue. 11/15/11 10:44am #K:

  Tue. 11/15/11 10:51am jamesie:

  Tue. 11/15/11 10:52am stu:

Tue. 11/15/11 11:03am Adrian in London:

Tue. 11/15/11 11:06am Dave in SoDak:

  Tue. 11/15/11 11:17am Mike East:

I think I need to get this bombino record. I unironically enjoyed the Gilbert OSullivan earlier, too. It made me think I need to get more post Beatles McCartney in my collection.
