  1:22am
Chop Scott:

Simmering at a long low boil tonight!
  1:23am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! Many more to come (so to speak).
  1:23am
slugluv1313:

awwww Mr. Joe McGasko!!!!!!! you are absolutely killin' me . . . . . ooooooooo Mr. Isaac Hayes *sigh* *swoon* etc. etc. etc. . . . !!!!!!!!!!
  1:23am
Chef (Isaac Hayes):

Tonight IS the night for love...Love Gravy...
  1:24am
Matt from Springfield:

And, I've heard this Isaac song once before, couldn't find a copy, so thanks for saying the album title.
  1:26am
Joe McG:

@Matt: It's a good one, includes his very cool remake of Roy Hamilton's "Don't Let Go" on it. Which I may play in a future week.
  1:26am
Matt from Springfield:

From Nat Roe's Adult Contemporary Redux, I've learned of Maxine Nightingale's other hit, 1979's "Lead Me On"--that's a good one, between Minnie Ripperton and Kate Bush in a way; do you have that one on you? Or in the library?
  1:26am
cheri:

well joe--got to go again before i faint,, see you soon!!
  1:30am
Joe McG:

Oh, that's a good one, Matt. I doubt we have it, but I'll take a look...
  1:33am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks! It'd be great if you could find it...
  1:36am
Matt from Springfield:

Purple Rain's "The Beautiful Ones"--jaw-droppingly amazing!
  1:36am
T-Zero:

Evening, Joe McG. Really enjoying tonight's program. Hearing a lot of songs I haven't heard in a while. As a friend of mine would say: "Classic S&F music.)
  1:38am
Joe McG:

Thanks, T-Zero--glad you're diggin' it!
  1:40am
Matt from Springfield:

This Usher made me think of Dave Chappelle--my freshman year of college Dave was a rising star (2003) and actually came to do a comedy show, and we were all screaming for him to do his R. Kelly parody, "Piss On You" song! He wouldn't, he said "I don't have the band with me or anything!" but he ended up singing a few lines, which made all of us extremely happy!
  1:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Usher's saying "freak" a lot--is this the (radio edit) version? : )
  1:46am
Joe McG:

@Matt: I'll get to the R. Kelly pretty soon! As far as I know, there isn't an explicit version of "Nice and Slow." Usher just says "freak" a lot.
  1:50am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks again Joe---this is a more "seductive" version of The Manhattans than I've heard from their other songs.
  1:51am
Joe McG:

@Matt: Looked for Maxine--alas, no dice. Sorry, my friend!
  1:51am
kiemzi:

omg slow jamz
  1:53am
Joe McG:

Hey, kiemzi! Nuthin' but.
  1:56am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, 's cool bro! At least I KNOW about that song!
Boyz II Men! I heard about them when I was younger, never was old enough when they were at the top of their game!
  2:02am
cheri:

all i could say joe,,this is one super freaky show!!
  2:04am
Joe McG:

Super freakin'. I thought about Rick James, but I'm not crazy about his ballads!
  2:05am
Matt from Springfield:

DID Rick do any ballads?!
  2:06am
Joe McG:

@Matt: There's one he did with Teena Marie that was pretty popular called "Fire and Desire." But I don't like how he sings it.
  2:10am
slugluv1313:

ooooooooo not even "Ebony Eyes"??? with Mr. Smokey Robinson, one of my *personal* all-time faves -- but i guess that is one of the things i have always loved about Mr. Rick James -- usually he is going on all about "sexy sext sexy sexy sexy" etc. . . . and THEN he totally blows your mind (and heart??!!) with a song all aching and gorgeous and "romantic" like "Ebony Eyes" . . . *sigh*
  2:11am
Mike Sin:

Laid back... The loneliest player getting no love on these past few tracks was the drummer.
  2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Mike S.!
  2:13am
Joe McG:

@slugluv: I always thought it was a bit odd that Rick and Smokey were singing that together, I don't know why! @Mike: Drummers just keepin' it down LOW.
  2:16am
slugluv1313:

YES!!!!!!!!! when "Ebony Eyes" first came out, i was like -- wha . . . ??? Smokey Robinson and Super Freak Rick James??? but it totally worked (well, at least for me) -- even the totally over-the-top, full-length video . . .
  2:17am
Joe McG:

@slugluv: Ooh, I'll have to put a link to that on the playlist later!
  2:20am
Matt from Springfield:

SYLVIA!!! WOW!
  2:22am
slugluv1313:

oooooo was just thinking of this Major Harris song -- cool! (have the 45 somewhere) -- thinking of another similar song, from same approximate time period -- maybe "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" -- ???

oh! if i can find it -- will put a link for "Ebony Eyes' video for ya
  2:23am
slugluv1313:

YES!!!!!! SYLVIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i AM in Heaven!!!!! :)
  2:24am
slugluv1313:

Chacachas' "JUngle Fever" . . . Dells' "Stay in My Corner" . . . (or are those not sloooooooooow enuff?)
  2:27am
Mike Sin:

Good morning, Matt from Springfield!... And good morning to all the lovely t-shirt and panty wearing... and pledging... ladies out there. ("Jeez, that dude is creepy").
  2:29am
Joe McG:

@slugluv: Good suggestions, but I put "Jungle Fever" on my premium this year, so it feels like self-promotion! The Dells tune is fantastic, but not quite sensual enough, if you get my drift.
  2:35am
slugluv1313:

video for "Ebony Eyes":

  2:37am
slugluv1313:

  2:41am
Joe McG:

Thanks for the YouTube video link, slugluv1313!
  2:46am
slugluv1313:

THANK YOU for all these amazing tunes!!!!!!!
  2:47am
Joe McG:

Having the desired effect, I hope!
  2:51am
BULLDOZ'r:

This playlist is a keeper
  2:52am
Mike Sin:

"always and forever" -- it's the last slow dance at the wedding!
  2:52am
slugluv1313:

YES!!!! guessing with other listeners too, judging by "lack" of comments, they are all *preoccupied*

ow WOW!!!!! the Heatwave song -- TOTALLY "cheesey" but gotta love it!!!
  2:54am
Joe McG:

@slugluv: Yes, I'm not too concerned about the comments list tonight. I hope people are "busy" in one way or another. I know this HW song is the ultimate cheese, but I love it, and I had to finish up with that high note climax!
  2:54am
slugluv1313:

@ Mike Sin -- EXACTLY!!!!!

(have a kinda funny/sweet/strangely "romantic" story about this song -- cannot really explain here)
  2:56am
Mike Sin:

Man, I didn't realize gentleman Joe mcG could be such a filthy mutha-fo!
  2:58am
Terre T:

Whew...i felt the earth move under my feet with that set...
  2:59am
Joe McG:

Goodnight, all, and thanks for listening! See you all next week!
  3:00am
slugluv1313:

@ Terre T. -- DITTO!!!!!!

and ending with "Love's Theme" -- PERFECT!!!!!!!
