Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

  6:12pm
Marc:

  6:13pm
Ike:

Enjoying the show! Since our tastes in music don't align, I love it when you do an all-interview/chat show.
  6:14pm
G:

Coming up: "Okie from Muskogee"
  6:15pm
Clay:

Thanks, Ike. Felt as if I had to stay on the OWS thing. haha G
I'd play some Roger Miller ... from Enid, OK.
  6:18pm
Clay:

Hi Dale.
  6:18pm
dale:

evening clay. see a tugboat when down in the hudson. has tugboat richie checked in yet? on another topic, queensryche was one of the best stage shows i ever saw...
  6:18pm
Ike:

I read an article recently in the New Yorker talking about how Wall St. is a brain drain, sucking away a lot of the smartest students who would've once been scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, etc. They would've once produced something but now they produce nothing in the zero-sum finance game. Sad.
  6:20pm
Clay:

Operation Mindcrime, Dale. Good one. Ike, enjoying the input.
  6:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Clay!
Once again: gooooooo FMU Listeners!
  6:22pm
Clay:

Good 2CU Matt!
  6:23pm
david:

Those Sue P fans and their anti-Wall Street tendencies... ;)
  6:23pm
dale:

yes! it was early 90s/ double bill with type o negative at the local county fair!
  6:24pm
Clay:

Chuckling. David.

Type o ... the late Peter Steele.
  6:27pm
Clay:

By the way ... thank you - thank you - thank you. Your generosity is remarkable. Much Appreciated.
  6:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay The Station as a whole jumped a few % points today! You and Julie are doing especially well (Fabio, 54%--still respectable!)
  6:30pm
Clay:

TY Matt. You guys are the coolest.
  6:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

Btw, I directed all of my check towards Julie, BUT I did ask for Clay's Classics III, glad to finally experience that!
  6:31pm
Clay:

Make sure it includes the short story, Matt. Day-Glo Pew.
  6:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

It's been a while since your last short story/radio play--don't forget I love those too!
  6:36pm
dale:

these homeless people are at least free from the healots.
  6:37pm
dale:

(sic) HELOTS
  6:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

@dale: "healot" = ?
  6:38pm
kata:

great show Clay, fascinating people.
  6:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, "helot":

"Helot
1. One of a class of serfs in ancient Sparta, neither a slave nor a free citizen.
2. A person in servitude; a serf."
  6:39pm
Clay:

I TY KAta. Thanks for the clarification, Matt. I was wondering what Dale meant.
  6:39pm
dale:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPkOp1XOgU
  6:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hooray! You didn't even need to ask her for "a message of peace and love"!!
  6:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Not enough to publish my manifesto--please repeat this long tract after me, line for line, like robots."
  6:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Now "FOX LIES!" on the other hand, speaks for itself! Or should anyway...
  6:51pm
Clay:

matt ... they do that because they are not allowed to use microphones or amplification.
  6:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

Oh--Ken & Andy mentioned that on 7SD; they have radios now, but Ken said they previously communicated via "the telephone game"!
  6:55pm
dale:

the blodd thirsty angry guy at the beginning of the show had a point in that this occupation should have happened on the steps of congress.
  6:56pm
Mark from NJ:

Interesting point by the Fox cameraman about OWS & Tea Party having same goals. Makes you wonder if some of these protesters were born under different circumstances, maybe in the heart of a red state, would they have fallen in with the Tea Party?
  6:57pm
glenn:

holy jeez. i have no idea who herman kane (sp) is, but he's just not paying attention.
  6:58pm
Clay:

Better make way for Andy and Night People. I hope you take the time to enjoy the entire Thursday evening compliment. Dusty, Night People, Sinner's, Spazz, Bill Berger and, of course ... Stan! Support OWS! We are the 98%! Always Remember.
  6:58pm
dale:

glenn - listen to neil boortz if you wanna know about herman cane.
  6:58pm
G:

cain, guys. so informed!
  6:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

@dale: No--all the police jurisdictions there--post 9/11 they can pretty much evict any one who could possibly be a "security threat"--everyone would just get thrown out, US Congress isn't like the Wisconsin capitol's openness.

Far better to do it on Wall Street--not partisan, that's the cause of such a bad economy, of people's anger--"Banks got bailed out--WE GOT SOLD OUT!" Message a lot easier that way.
  7:00pm
glenn:

didn't i say i didn't know who he was? don't be a douche.
  7:00pm
dale:

sorry G., i never see his name spelled on the radiola.
  7:00pm
Matt from Springfield:

Once again, amazing show Clay! Like I said, you ARE the historian of this movement, from the beginning!
  7:01pm
G:

youre information only comes from radio? i thought high school graduates knew how to read at least.
  7:01pm
Ike:

Hey @G, Glenn is Canadian, so he doesn't need to know who Herman Cain is.
  7:02pm
dale:

matt, i agree then that this message should have been heard 3 years ago. it seems a day late and a dollar short, that's what's feeding the naysayers
  7:02pm
glenn:

your. not youre, which should be you're, but i digress.
  7:03pm
glenn:

thanks ike. you's a star, bruddah.
  7:04pm
Ike:

That was a fuzzy usage of "doesn't need to" on my part though. More specificially, I presume y'all Canucks have yr own wacky right-wing/Tory politicians/candidates to pay attention to. Heh.
  7:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great point dale--if people had taken to the streets immediately the response to the Financial Crisis wouldn't have been tilted so heavily towards the wealthy. But, better late than never--I'm happy people are finally taking it to the streets!
  7:06pm
glenn:

oh gawd. it's just plain fucking depressing, believe me.
  7:09pm
G:

And as Ike's earlier comment shows, he doesn't need to know why money exists. Money is pointless leechery! Except when Ike wants it to buy something. Then suddenly there should be more of it.

The financial system exists to move money from where it is wanted or needed less to where it is wanted or needed more. That's what they get paid for, and if you think that's stupid, next time you use any kind of credit, pretend you don't have it and have to pay strictly cash for everything.

Yes, there are tons of money industry scams. Many of them exist because they are gaming some dumbass system the government ordered into existence.

Next time you are paying a monthly debit card fee, thank the Durbin amendment for cutting swipe fees so much, forcing costs from merchants onto customers. Good move, geniuses. Let's put you in charge of *more* stuff.
  7:53pm
Clay:

Just heard ... Eviction Planned at Zucotti Park - 7am - Bloomberg's orders. Be there if you can at 6am to stand with OWS!!!
