I went to see Steve Reich play a matinee at a small club once, turned out to be Steven Reich who sang Jewish folk songs during brunch.
Thu. 10/6/11 3:56pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

there is a band that is somewhat popular called Deerhunter and another significantly less popular band called The Dear Hunter. I wonder how many disappointed non-fans show up at their shows.
  Thu. 10/6/11 3:59pm still b/p:

Fun or Failure in translation:
"Göksin Sipahioglu who embodied the scoop in photojournalism makes the weapons at the respectable age of 84."
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:02pm Looms:

@still b/p: excellent! I think it comes from French topic "passer l'arme à gauche" = to pass away
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:03pm Cecile:

Roger Miller did a version of "King of the Road."

Cybill Sheppard, too. And Cloris Leachman got the Oscar for her role
Thu. 10/6/11 4:38pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ellen Burstyn was hot in that...Cybil Shepherd!
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:39pm Cecile:

She's a good actress with the right material. I liked her sitcom in spite of itself.
Thu. 10/6/11 4:39pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

might I add, Cybil Shepherd standing naked on a diving board!
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:40pm Cecile:

Thu. 10/6/11 4:40pm Insane Clown Posse:

Magnets? How do they work?
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:40pm david:

FM magic!
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:41pm Sven:

Yes, science is the TRUE magic.
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:42pm Cecile:

one of my favorite ICP interviews was when the interviewer brought a copy of "How Things Work" with him. Spoiler: they already knew how magnets work.
Thu. 10/6/11 4:42pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

I have strong Desire to leave this place of My Employ early to-day.
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:42pm hubba:

Shoot butter... I missed Metal Rouge....
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:44pm david:

man it is so hard to duplicate that swing-on-top-of-swing comping that Le Son'y Ra does...
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:45pm hubba:

I think we got us an old fashion dialectical process goin on... OWS folks are being compared to the Tea Party... anyone read that?
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:45pm earwax:

Insane Clown Posse? How do they exist?
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:46pm tony:

From an AV Club 2009 interview with Charles Napier: I was dating some stripper, and she told me about a movie this guy wanted her to make, and she was scared to go in and talk to the guy. But I went along, and at that time, he was out in Santa Monica someplace, and I walked in, and he basically said “What the hell are you doing here?” And I said “Well, she doesn’t feel comfortable around you.” And he said, “Do you feel comfortable around me?” And I said, “About as far as I can fuckin’ throw ya.” And I wound up in a movie. He said, “Have you been in the military?” I go “Yeah,” and he goes, “Okay, I want you to play this role.” And that’s how I got in the movie with him.
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:46pm hubba:

my burrito so warm... my toes are so cold... idea...

mash burrito between my toes!
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:48pm tony:

Sorry, that was referencing Napier's relationship with Russ Meyer if it wasn't obvious.
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:50pm hubba:

What is happening to Bryan Ferry?
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:51pm J J:

The commentary track on the Beyond the Valley with Roger Ebert is one of my favorites.
What's his face, Jonathan Demme was a fan of Napier from Meyers movies, put him in his movies as well. He had that awesome old school movie star face.
  Thu. 10/6/11 4:53pm jz:

Sorry I missed the Bedford, he’s underappreciated tho’ appearing in Wire and Mojo recently. Much of his music sounds a bit like 2001: A Space Odyssey with ethereal children’s or women’s voices added
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:02pm hamburger:

awww yea drone in the housssssssssszzzz
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:02pm slugluv1313:

STILL love this in all its *painful* glory -- Mr. Napier will be missed :(
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:06pm andymorphic:

  Thu. 10/6/11 5:12pm BSI:

okay that one deserves another holy crap.
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:13pm northguineahills:

Thanks for the quote, Tony.......

just made a nice enchilada...., potato, veggie chorizo, w/ salsa verde made w/ charred poblanos, habaneros, & tomatillos, complete w/ crema de azteca (even though I'm lactose intolerant) (actually my gf made it last night).
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:14pm BSI:

I found a CD of the Beyond the Valley soundtrack, coupled with tunes from another film called GROUPIE GIRL, which I haven't seen ....... sounds like an ideal double-feature based on titles alone....
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:16pm fabio:

Special show coming up at the end of the Month: Con:Tribute II. second installment with GenKen Montgomery covering some of the music and life of the late Conrad Schnitzler. w/ possible special call-in surprise guest!..details to come...

Thu. 10/6/11 5:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Intense ambient. I love this as well!
Mashup idea: Star Guzzlers vs. Starcastle!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:54pm Hacksaw Jenkins:

How dare you mash up the sacred cow that is Starcastle!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:54pm nic:

yeah it was awesome
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:55pm Brass Knuckles:

Clay kind of looks like Z-Man. I could see him saying this is my radio show and it's freaking me out
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:55pm jaycjay:

Wild Wild West was Escape Club.
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:55pm Night Al:

Escape Club did Wild Wild West Clay.
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:56pm jaycjay:

Or vice versa.
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:56pm ?:

Relayer is not Tales From Topographic Oceans!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:57pm david:

The Man stripped pop culture out of '60s social movements for just that reason, IMO....
Thu. 10/6/11 5:57pm Matt from Springfield:

Captain's Chair Radicals, Unite!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:57pm Michael:

Hooray! It's a Triumvirate show!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:57pm Night Al:

Timex Social Club was an American R&B/Hip hop group, formed in 1982 by students of Berkeley High School in Berkeley, California. They are perhaps best known for their 1986 hit single, "Rumors" and for being major forerunners to the soon-incipient new jack swing movement.
Thu. 10/6/11 5:58pm tormato, not gradually going tornado:

Don't Kill The Whale!
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:59pm G:

Relayer is from a lyric in Tales that then became the name of the next album. Whatver!!!! :-)
  Thu. 10/6/11 5:59pm KC:

"Hear the one about Michael, some say he must be gay
I try to argue, but they say if he was straight he wouldn't move that way"
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:00pm Ike:

The mention of Timex Social Club causes me to bring up this video yet AGAIN:
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:00pm glenn:

i played risk all the time when i was a nipper.
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:00pm Cecile:

there are lots in the Midwest. My husband visits them often.
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:01pm ?:

D. Boon was finished off for being political.
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:02pm glenn:

  Thu. 10/6/11 6:04pm ?:

@G: Thanks, I'll look into it.
  Thu. 10/6/11 6:07pm dale:

there's some hardcore scale modelers out there. i used to work with a guy who scratchbuilt models. he'd turn his own engine pulleys and wheels and stuff on a mini lathe out of brass.
