hi abby!
  3:32am
Kenzo:

I remember this from "Oh, Merge!"
  3:32am
Bill Mac:

I'm jealous Abby! Love the warmth, and although it's tolerable here in the Eastern US til about December, I don't like the cold, and it's coming
  3:33am
Bill Mac:

Hey Kenzo! Yeah they call this CD "Obscurities", but this is too good to not have been released already
  3:55am
T-Zero:

Wet and downright cold here.
  3:57am
Andrew:

I like this one by The National
  3:58am
Andrew:

Andrew:

this song is awesome! I've heard of alice donut before, but don't think I'd heard anything yet. ^_^
  4:13am
Bill Mac:

This should be a decent introduction.... hope you like it...
  4:13am
abby in france:

this is pretty weird. it's good.
  4:14am
T-Zero:

I remember this. Haven't heard it in ages.
  4:15am
Bill Mac:

I understand these guys were pretty popular in Europe.... their a bit older now but the show was good.
  4:20am
T-Zero:

I don't own anything by them and have no idea where I heard them. But some station I used to listen to played them quite a bit when I was living in San Diego.
  4:21am
T-Zero:

I meant, it would have had to have been some station I listened to...
  4:25am
T-Zero:

Heh, do they win for longest title ever? "The Son Of A Disgruntled X-Postal Worker Reflects On His Life While Getting Stoned In The Parking Lot Of A Winn Dixie Listening To Metallica"
  4:27am
Bill Mac:

Yeah! They talked about that one in the movie
  4:27am
Andrew:

hehe i sent that song name to my friend, cos it was funny.
I dont know what a winn dixie is though.
  4:27am
Andrew:

They have a lot of albums...
http://www.alicedonut.com/music_home.html
  4:28am
Bill Mac:

I think it's a convenience store...
  4:29am
T-Zero:

Winn Dixie's are a grocery store chain in the deep south
  4:33am
T-Zero:

Heh, just looked on Wiki... had no idea they were the 46th largest reailer in the US
  4:34am
Bill Mac:

Winn Dixie, not Alice Donut...
  4:35am
Andrew:

46th? is that good?

i thought this song sounded familiar...
  4:36am
T-Zero:

... right, Bill lol

@Andrew: 2009 fiscal year estimated sales of $7.3 billion by Supermarket News
  4:38am
Bill Mac:

BTW T, thanks for typing in the title.... thank goodness for copy and paste!
  4:47am
Jeff In Hawaii:

Hahahaha brilliant!
  4:51am

  4:51am
Stanley:

Mornin' Bill. Is it safe to come out from under the duvet now?
  4:52am
Brian in UK:

Hello Bill & friends, better late than never. do not want to get up your nose but like Abby in France it's what you call peachey here right now. Not a cloud in sight.
  4:54am
Brian in UK:

By the way the Bulgarian ladies were wonderful.
  4:55am
T-Zero:

[joking flips the bird at Brian] It's only 35 (2C) here. It's too damn early in the fall to be this cold.
  4:58am
Brian in UK:

I'll just say softly 29C today. Have to get the shorts out again. Love the joking expression T-Zero.
  5:00am
Andrew:

it's about 11C here, been raining on and off all day. yesterday it rained 90% of the day/night.

I'd love to go to the record fair, if I ever get to the US I'll have to time it for october ^_^
  5:01am
M:

The Red Sox's elect not to pick up Terry Francona's option
  5:02am
T-Zero:

It's only 5am, but we'll be lucky if it makes it to 10c by evening, Brian... and it's been raining (mostly drizzle) for the past few days and more to come for the weekend.
  5:04am
T-Zero:

Sorry. Not a fan of baseball, or most team sports for that matter
  5:05am
Brian in UK:

It's the MotoGP from Japan tomorrow morning, starts at 4AM our time, hoping to get up to see it but the odds do not look good!
  5:09am
Brian in UK:

In the early hours of Sunday August 1st. The local church had the flag at half mast later that day with indecent haste.
  5:09am
Andrew:

funny you should mention that T-Zero, cos i was just thinking earlier that I wasn't much of a fan of team sports either (The AFL Grand final was on today & I wasn't that interested, seems most of victoria stops for it though) But then you guys were talking about baseball & I was thinking, I used to play & like softball in school, which is kind of similar. But most other team sports i'm not into. I like the olympics, but prefer the individual sports in it.

ah, this Wire Tapper CD gets played a lot! I only have the one (I think it's no 22 with a blue striped cover) I checked out ebay & found a pile being sold, but each had been bid on by the same person.
  5:09am
Bill Mac:

Ah hah! motorcycles....
  5:11am
Brian in UK:

Used to have a BSA racing sidecar outfit, Bill.
  5:13am
Bill Mac:

I know what you mean... sometimes I think it's a bit rude of me to go on about American sports to you folks over there, mostly cos it doesn't always translate that well... interesting stuff the bike stuff is though... i mean who can't relate to that on some level, even if you never rode a bike it's something that you wish you could do.
  5:14am
Andrew:

what happened August 1st?
I don't mind the motoGP. Casey Stoner is doing pretty well.
  5:14am
T-Zero:

@Andrew: Where I live US football is the big thing. I like the Olympics, but more the individual events like swimming, track...

@Bill, as a kid I I loved demolition derbies.

@Brian and Bill: Yeah, I know, that's not motorcycles
  5:16am
Bill Mac:

The Wire Tapper CDs always have some juicy bits to play to everyone... I like the variety on them
  5:17am
Brian in UK:

Andrew, that was the day a Princess died. If my memory serves me well.
Stoner has got it in the bag. loved to have seen him trying to tame that Ducati.
  5:17am
T-Zero:

@Bill: I'm used to people talking sports. I live in Columbus by the University.
  5:18am
Bill Mac:

So college football... I draw a complete blank on that
  5:19am
Brian in UK:

The only team sport that I cannot resist is cricket. Please do ask me to explain. Andrew will understand!
  5:20am
hamburger:

good morning, good vibes, too good to be true..

I LOVE YOU BABY AND IF IT'S QUITE ALRIGHT... :)
  5:21am
T-Zero:

Yep. Big 10 school (or whatever it is now, I think they added some to the 10). The Oho State. But (US) football of any kind is real big here. Even the local newscasters obsess on it. It's like a fetish... high school, college, professional. If it's people on a team bashing into each other they can't get enough.
  5:22am
T-Zero:

I've never been able to figure out the ruloes of Cricket. European football I like. But don't really follow it.
  5:23am
Bill Mac:

That's what I mean.... I was weaned on baseball here, used to play on the field and in the street, and I still watch. I find it amazing that a lot of the none sports playing folks (women included) are now the most rabid baseball and football fans
  5:24am
Andrew:

I remember going to the demolition derby's with my dad years ago. it was fun ^_^

Oh yeh. i rmeember when that hppened, was at my Oma's helping move stuff out & I'd found a TV on the nature strip & hooked it up & it worked & then the news report came on saying she'd died...

Nope, not that into cricket ^_^
Though I did like playing backyard cricket or beach cricket.

yeh, US football is way bigger than AFL here, but then we don't have such an emphasis on school/football as they do over in the US.
Do they have similar with soccer in the UK? They go nuts when they kick a goal. the fans tend to be more deadly too ^_^
  5:25am
Brian in UK:

Bill Cosby did a funny stand up in the 60s about football and a guy called Dave trying to 'kill' him. Very funny. Hey Bill I'm an advocate for more spoken word on FMU.
  5:26am
Andrew:

i mean, US football is different to our football...we don't have football scholarships & the cheerleaders & so on
  5:27am
Bill Mac:

Are you? Funny, I'd play Cosby on this show.... he's from Philadelphia and grew a near where I grew up... as a matter of fact we both went to the same high school... so did Larry Fine (of Three Stooges fame)
  5:30am
T-Zero:

Was Larry Fine Curly?
  5:30am
Andrew:

some 3 stooges & bill cosby then? ^_^
  5:32am
Brian in UK:

The sad thing here Andrew is money at the top level and the slackness it seems to induce. Schoolboy/girl football is popular.
Yea Bill, I think it compliments the aural? sounds. Cosby was funny and groundbreaking. Personally do not like joke tellers but prefer monologists like Lord Buckley. Loved a word cosby used 'gunky' if thats the right spelling.
  5:33am
Bill Mac:

No, Curly was Curly, the bald one... I almost laughed out loud at that one, but I could see how the guy with the curly hair could be mistook (?) as Curly
  5:35am
T-Zero:

Digression... I need Stanley's duvet. I'd rather it was freezing cold than the wet dampness. The air's dryer when it's really cold and I don't feel as chilled... so not ready for winter.

@Brian: It's the arrogance of the players that gets up my nose. Ohio State has been racked with a lot of that the past year. Been a lot of scandals as a result with them taking money, gifts, etc. Brought down one of the coaches.
  5:36am
Andrew:

I like the 3 stooges ^_^
& the Marx Bros.
Yeh, Bill cosby is great, i have a coule albums & I like his stories. The one about Fat Albert putting an airplane engine in his car was funny ^_^
  5:37am
Andrew:

yeh, here it also tends to be damp-cold rather than really cold, it rarely gets to zero here, only at night.
  5:37am
Brian in UK:

Did Fat Albert weigh 2000 or 3000 pounds?
  5:40am
T-Zero:

@Bill. Oh! That's right. Curly Larry and Moe. So Larry was Larry.

@Andrew: About January and February it'll get down to -29c (worse if it's windy).
  5:42am
Bill Mac:

Larry, Fat Albert and sports.... par for the course around here!
  5:43am
Andrew:

this is gold ^_^
  5:45am
Bill Mac:

So glad that it was requested.... this is what I was listening to in 1965...
  5:47am
Brian in UK:

Think it was 68/69 for me. Know most of the words too.
  5:49am
Andrew:

thanks Bill! ^_^
  5:51am
T-Zero:

I remember watching him on TV back then, but never his comedy records. You know who I also miss from back then is Red Skelton.
  5:52am
Andrew:

The first I knew of Bill Cosby was from the Cosby Show & the cartoon Fat Albert.
  5:53am
Bill Mac:

I saw a Soupy Sales retrospective a couple nights ago... he was the perfect subversive example for 8 year old in the 60s.
  5:54am
T-Zero:

Yeppers, Bill. FMU weirdness... from music topics to huge rat-like creatures and sports, to nostalgic comedic memories. Gotta luv it!
  5:54am
Brian in UK:

You're right Bill, the buzz; that's lifted me for the day. T-Zero hope you find some warmth today.
Keep it coming, BIll
  5:56am
T-Zero:

@Brian; Enjoy your warmth. After this I'm going back to bed and crawling under the covers.

Take care everyone.
  5:58am
Andrew:

awesome show Bill! ^_^

thanks guys ^_^
cya next time
