Fri. 9/23/11 9:24am
SiHV:
Anyone else having trouble getting streams working? Live stream and archives, all seem to buffer endlessly for me.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:26am
Quentin:
This track is awesome ! @SiHV : having some trouble too, but seems to be better since a few hours.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:28am

Good morning Scott and listeners, from the subterranean one. @SiHV: no buffering trouble for me.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:28am
Mike East:
I don't know if I can throw that far, BSI. Maybe fax?
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:37am
jb:
@SiHV - been having similar problems all week with flash
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:37am
T-Zero:
@SiHV: No buffering problems here. Morning Scott, enjoying your set on this wet and melancholy first day of autumn.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:48am
BSI:
I hear fax-food restaurants are big business in your united states...
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:48am
Cheri Pi:
Scott, I'm still enjoying the Tetuzi Akiyama track even though it's been over for a while.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:49am
Scott:
:) | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 9:51am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
good morning, everybody. This is the 2nd day I've taken off this week to sit around and watch rain.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:03am
Cecile:
my favorite kinds of days off!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:07am
T-Zero:
Better than watching grass grow or paint dry, DCE ;-)
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:08am
Cecile:
Good coffee or wine-drinking weather.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:10am
Cecile:
So, you can't do Coltrane? One of the giants of the 20th century? Come on, Scott!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:10am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
yeah...I'm supposed to go camping in this crap though...3 day weekend of arts/music/**** in central Ohio. I'd prefer a bit drier weather.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:11am
Scott:
I mean, I can do Coltrane.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:11am
fred:
Scott, finding Bimbo Tower isn't that hard once you know that there is no sign on the outside. It's very well worth the trouble though, and their not taking plastic is good for my back account.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:12am
Cecile:
Oh. Camping. I prefer cabining. Just play a couple of tunes. Or someone interpreting them. Like the Nels Cline Interstellar Space...
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:12am
T-Zero:
@DCE: Ugh. I'm not much for camping in the rain, either. What's going on with the art/music thing... ie, what is it?
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:14am
Scott:
I pulled Milford Graves this morning. This show isn't going that way as of yet, though.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:14am
Cecile:
Yeah, a cabin in the rain. Cribbage and beer. Comic books for the kids.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:15am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
it's called Recycled Rainbow (recycledrainbow.org). kind of modeled after the Burning Man thing but on a much smaller basis.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:18am
SiHV:
Thanks for the responses. Still not working for me. Guess I drew the Short Straw of the Internet Gods today.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:21am
INTERNET GODS:
sorry, someone has to lose!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:23am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
I bet I'd enjoy this more with two working speakers.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:25am
T-Zero:
Thanks, DCE. I hadn't heard anything about it around here.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:28am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
it's pretty local, though some people come from IL/KY/MI as well.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:31am
Clarissa:

adampa:

|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:50am
Cecile:
In my weird world, I think Kompakt has nearly as big a place in my heart as a label as Flying Nun.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:54am
dave:
jeez, each thing i hear from this guisher album is better than the last thing.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:54am
hubba:
Kompakt is like that feeling one gets in the stomach when they have the shakes from drinking too much coffee
|
Fri. 9/23/11 10:57am
Cecile:
It actually makes me very calm. It has a cooling effect. Like friendly robots spraying my brain with lavender-scented water.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:00am
dave:
"that's a weird fucking lizard": best song title, or best song title EVER? oh, and obligatory pedantry: i think the grasshopper album has a label: it's on baked tapes.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:02am
dave:
and MORE pedantry: the guisher album's called "hide your COLD dome", not "gold dome". this caused me no end of annoyance trying to google the thing.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:11am
Scott:
Ha! Thank you, Dave! It's the DJ error show!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:13am

Cheri Pi:
#Wire | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:19am
Cheri Pi:
I just turned off the sound to the virtual conference I'm in right now, Rocking out takes precedence.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:20am
Parq:
Pi, if you're on camera, try to avoid fist-pumping at inappropriate junctures.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:22am
Cheri Pi:
Oh man, if I were on camera I would be living in a box down by the river!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:25am
blackgreen13:
morning, all... acid birds, wow
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:26am
Parq:
PI, that's the real reason why, '65 World's Fair and the "2001" movie notwithstanding, video phones are not now standard.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:27am
dave:
that acid birds thing was great!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:27am
hubba:
Infinite Jest... | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:29am
hubba:
I think some of those folks in Acid Birds used to be in Gold Sparkle Band
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:30am
Scott:
Indeed. 2/3rds from GSB! 1/3rd from Peeesseye!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:31am
Ike:
"2001" was dumb. Yes, I said it. I'm with Pauline Kael on that one. All style, no substance. Damn hippies just wanted to get high and space out to the pretty lights! Anyway, just tuned in. Good sounds!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:32am
Cheri Pi:
@Park-L to the O to the L!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:34am
adam:
Yo Ike, so tempted to take the bait...
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:34am
Cheri Pi:
"PARQ" | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:35am
hubba:
I think "2001" should be shown in preschools
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:37am
adam:
HAL's death was a tragic one - he failed because of guilt and the resulting panic

|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:41am
G:
Pauline Kael said so? Wow, finally that's settled.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:41am
Tarnisher:
Everything you just played was just what I needed today! This is why I love FMU! Keep up the good work!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:45am
Scott:
Thanks! | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:45am
Ike:
Damn straight. WORSHIP Pauline, you silly Kubrick monkeys! LOL. Seriously though, jeez, it's a bad day if I'm already baiting Kubrick fans and it's not even 12 noon yet. Bad old habits.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:45am
G:
I agree, Ike. | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:48am
blackgreen13:
Ike, Ike, Ike *affectionate head tilt, slight smile, one eye glazed, the other totally crossed*
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:51am
Scott:
I caved. | |

hubba:
Cecile better appreciate this... I do!!!!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:54am
Ike:
You agree, @G? I'm going into Stephen Colbert mode and assuming that means you agree with everything I said, and therefore, I win. I gracefully accept your apology. :) :)
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:55am
Kubrick's Ghost:
I'm dead, but fortunately Ike can step in to sort things, and show everyone where I went off the tracks.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:55am
G:
I agreed with your second half, and was trying to leave *something* to the imagination. O well!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:56am
BDR:
Happy Birthday, John Coltrane.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:57am
hubba:
I think some Kubrick fans can be over zealous, but there is not one movie that is perfect... is there?
|
Fri. 9/23/11 11:59am
Kubrick's Ghost:
Nothing's perfect, but on the other hand if tons of people see good in something, probably it's not **totally useless** either -- unless your goal in saying so is to suggest your superiority by slating things.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:02pm
Ike:
But slating things is one of my few skills. :(
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:02pm
hubba:
bye | |
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:03pm
Cecile:
2001 is an enigma - profound yet silly, captivating yet dull, perfectly moving yet static. I think it's a "you have to see it once" movie. not one of my favorites, but still important for those it influenced at the very least.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:04pm
Kubrick's Ghost:
Who knew. It's takes hardworking people time to built;d a barn, but a jackass can kick one over in a few seconds!
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:06pm
blackgreen13:
I think outliers have value just by being outliers
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:11pm
Ike:
You mean I kicked over "2001"!? HOORAY! I WIN! :) Good show Scott.
|
Fri. 9/23/11 12:16pm
Kubrick's Ghost:
Yes, Ike, you're a legend in your own mind. :-) For my part, I'll have to take some minimal satisfaction from my status in encyclopedias and the culture.
