Sean Daily:

A friend of mine told me this joke:
Q: What's the difference between a cow and 9/11?
A: You stop milking a cow after ten years.

SiHV:

Can't call in, at the office. I watched just 10 minutes or so of the memorial coverage, packing for a trip, but was lucky enough to see James Taylor singing "Close Your Eyes." Quite moving, you can YouTube it.
  6:16pm
Ike:

Ha ha ha @ Sean!
  6:16pm
gina k:

I watched a program on rescue dogs of 911 with my dog. I kept telleing her "see, see what you could do if you had ambition?"
  6:18pm
cee dub:

News is something which has happened somewhere else that someone doesn't want you to know about. Everything else is advertising. Sex sells so most "news" is indeed designed to excite and titillate, ie, pornography

Listener Dave from Seattle:

I was on an airplane on Sunday and they wisely didn't mention that it was 9/11.

Johnny Mazda, calling in from the (very) shallow end of the gene pool

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" is my favorite Beach Boys song - not a close competition even with all of their great songs.

Danne D:

Does working age include those over the retirement age?

Sean Daily:

Chris, can you repeat where you're reading that unemployment story?

Stuart from di Golfo di Taranto!!

Mike:

The idea that US workers need to compete with low wage workers overseas is a bit of a myth. German workers are very well paid and they are one of the worlds leading exporters. The problem I think is overpaid, incompetent management.
  6:40pm
Danne D:

Wow - so is this a rare Nightmare Lounge redux on Thursday night?
  6:43pm
alberto:

good point, mike.
  6:44pm
Omar:

I'm disappointed you didn't get my reference.
  6:46pm
Danne D:

Less observed this weekend - it's the 10th anniversary of us no longer giving a crap about the (ultimately innocent) Gary Condit.
  6:46pm
Marlo:

Didn't bother to comment on <> didn't get.
  6:48pm
Linda:

I agree with the DJ that everything in this country has gone downhill since 9/11. To that end, the terrorists won -- they crushed the economic status of the Superpower of the World, formerly known as the United States of America. What a crock "USA" is itself -- our own government is not even united!!!
  6:49pm
jaycjay:

Our government was "not united" long before 9/11.
  6:51pm
Linda:

Jaycjay - you're right - I shouldda said that!
  6:52pm
Linda:

SORRY CHRIS! I didn't know your name - I do listen to Jonesy on Sundays so I am a follower of WFMU.
  6:53pm
dale:

terrorists didn't burst the tech and real estate bubbles. that was our own creation and un-doing.
  6:57pm
Listener John:

I agree with them guys in X: "This was 'sposed to be the new world!"

( And thanks for the radio program . . .)
