Listener comments!

  9:03am
annie:

morning jason!
  9:04am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Hey Jason! gonna be hot today--the air is out at the office.
  9:04am
jason:

mornin' annie! what's happening?
  9:05am
annie:

not alot jason, just looking forward to tunes and getting some work done today
  9:05am
jason:

hey DCE, I feel it too
  9:05am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Hey Jason, great start with that Conrad/Faust///
  9:20am
pierre:

Bonjour Annie, DCE, And Yair !
Bonjour Mr. Sigal
  9:23am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Hey Pierre
  9:25am
jason:

bounjour! Welcome in September
  9:27am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

this is really a plodding track, isn't it? actually it's helping me focus!
  9:29am
Randy in NC:

A chord change!
  9:31am
T-Zero:

heh, Minamlist Boléro
  9:33am
annie:

i guess that answers that, huh pierre??!!
  9:38am
Cecile:

Are these the original Boston Girls? With Robin Amos?
  9:39am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

somehow this reminds me of early Weezer
  9:39am
jason:

yes Cecile, 1986
  9:39am
pierre:

i remember September

@ annie : ) FMU FRIENDs
  9:39am
Cecile:

HUH. Weezer just wish. This is early/mid 80s, right?
  9:40am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

except for that
  9:40am
Cecile:

I wore out a tape of it. Got the album years later. Have to dig it out.
  9:41am
Cecile:

Got any Fungus Brains?
  9:42am
Cecile:

I used to have a problem with Chris D's voice. Those were innocent days.
  9:46am
jason:

im not sure if i got any fungus brains but i can check

I think Flesh Eaters vocals are awesome, does anybody else have a problem with that style of vocals?
  9:47am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

it's not something you can chill with, but in the right place and time, cool enough
  9:47am
Cecile:

I don't anymore. But then again, Tom Verlaine's singing kept me from Television for a long time, too. Now it doesn't matter so much any more.
  9:47am
mark:

Fantastic set. It was GREAT to hear the Flesh Eaters.
  9:49am
T-Zero:

Got The Penetrators "Walk the Beat" or "Nervous Fingers" lying around?
  9:50am
pierre:

i love the flesh eater's vocals, and for a punk band i don't find them this harsch to listen to, i'm i sounding pretentious by saying that?
  9:51am
Das:

Was he saying rubber duckies?
  9:53am
Cecile:

no, pierre. This was ages ago, but as a wee tad, I just had a problem with the accomplished musicianship set against Chris D's wailing. Now I think it's a cool contrast.
  9:53am
Cheri Pi:

Digging My Grave is the best example of Chris D's amazing voice, not a turn off at all. Wayne Coyne on the other hand, can't stand him.
  9:55am
Cecile:

you can swear on the BBC.
  10:06am
Mr. Two-Arms:

Panty Christ = Scariest song ever
  10:07am
Das:

Sounds like a bad day at the hairdressers
  10:08am
Cecile:

Or the outtakes from 5 Gays, 1 Girl.
  10:09am
pierre:

…or my office right now
  10:09am
Wm.:

great show today, jason!
  10:11am
Das:

I'm sure that must be the effect they were trying to achieve.
  10:12am
Cecile:

Speaking of LGBT issues, me and my autistic brother in law were watching Oprah, and Chaz Bono came on. He was floored by the concept of transgender, but I explained to him that sometimes a man's brain ends up in a woman's body and vice versa. He pondered that for a second, and says "that makes sense. God made Eve out of Adam." (he's very religious.) Then he goes, "that means Chaz is a one-woman man like the song on the radio." My BiL is awesome.
  10:17am
Tom G:

Hey Jason ... just tuning in. I see I missed some good stuff.
  10:18am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

hey, I'm gonna follow that drinking gourd tonight!
  10:18am
Das:

Firewater = cool
  10:20am
Das:

"Chaz is a one-woman man" Classic!
  10:20am
Das:

These math questions are hard
  10:21am
Cecile:

I know, right?
  10:21am
Cecile:

Das: you're too pretty to answer those math questions. Make your brother do them.
  10:23am
Das:

I can't respond to this because I'm bad at math, sorry
  10:24am
jason:

more good stuff in the future Tom G, and/or on-demand! Hey did you see Broos' Indian Field Recordings at FMA?

http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Broos/
  10:24am
Cecile:

http://slatest.slate.com/posts/2011/08/31/jc_penny_too_pretty_t_shirt_retailer_stops_sale_of_controversial.html
  10:28am
Das:

@Cecile : They should follow that up with a classy "Free Mustache Rides' shirt.
  10:29am
pierre:

this shirt story remind me of a french magazine cover saying : "girls and sex, how to love it without being thought as a sl*t" take this sentence in a masculine genre, it doesn't make sense, why should in a feminine version? Those magazines… sigh.
  10:29am
Cecile:

Exactly.
  10:31am
Tom G:

Very cool about Broos! Glad to see that stuff has a home.
Will you be at the Royal Headache show next week?
  10:31am
Cecile:

Yeah, pierre, it's angry-making.

I prefer lady-magazines like InStyle where it's just pretty people wearing pretty clothes. It makes my eyes happy.
  10:34am
pierre:

pretty is one thing i don't really enjoy, i mean, not through magazine, but i totally see what you're saying Cecile.
  10:36am
pierre:

Angels in America is great !
can't wait to hear them play live !
  10:37am
Cecile:

I like to look at pictures of the detail and craft of fashion and the endless ways of combining clothes. Getting a man or hiding my dark circles, not so much.
  10:37am
observed:

same piano lick as that devendra song
  10:39am
pierre:

^_^

i work for the fashion industry
  10:44am
Cecile:

Ahhhhhh. Say no more.
  10:49am
pierre:

and i'm not doing it for the interest that i could have for clothes, non madame, i'm just trying to save some money.

but i'll say no more :)
  10:50am
Cecile:

I mean, I get it. My dream was never to be the weirdest one in the admin asst pool, but there you go.
  10:53am
Das:

These days its probably more of a battle trying not to look like the weirdest one
  10:55am
pierre:

that's the thing for both cases :

- no dreamy work : WFMU helps going through it.
- trying to not look like the weird one : WFMU help you unleash your weirdo-self, without having to act weird.
  10:58am
Cecile:

Oh, I look like the weirdest one. And I'm not that weird. But this is public sector Minnesota. Wearing a primary color is edgy.
  10:59am
pierre:

"l'étoile du nord" ! from what i've read.
  11:00am
Das:

I'm fine until I open my mouth.
  11:00am
Wild Neil:

I work in an office as an engineer. The rest of the office, for the most part, act like juveniles...in high school...
  11:09am
dc pat:

I wear FMU tshirts, old jeans, and beat up boots to work and have no idea what people think of me ... Fortunately it makes no difference but I do notice that others wear tan pants and cut their hair every other week...
  11:12am
Das:

When the shit goes down everyone will point at the stinkin hippie
  11:13am
Cecile:

this is true. The weird ADD one gets picked on, but yet the moment someone picks on me, they probably are stealing from the company. It's happened to me 5 times!
  11:14am
pierre:

oh so true
@dc pat : i only have two fmu shirts… i'd love to have more
but no one has my size anymore (i'm a "M")
  11:17am
pierre:

love white rainbow totally my kind o'sh*t these days…
  11:17am
Cecile:

I don't wear FMU shirts anywhere but to sleep. Either too small or too boxy.
Note to FMU, a 1X or 2X girlie tee with a scoop neck would be really appreciated by us larger ladies
  11:19am
Das:

Seriously, the majority of the world seems to wear XXXL now
  11:20am
still b/p:

"I'm too pretty to listen to anything but WFMU."
  11:21am
Cecile:

YES
this must happen
Maybe I'll try my hand at designing it. You get co-designer credit if they take it, sbp.
  11:22am
Cecile:

Das, I was a size 4 when I was 4. I'm not a small person, even when at fighting weight.
  11:23am
Cecile:

but I know what you mean. Still, dammit, there are so few non-ugly scoopneck tees in my size.
  11:24am
dc pat:

pierre: they have M's -- I'm in between M and L so keep switching but yeah, trying buying a soccer jersey somewhere, they're all XXXXXXXXXL ...
  11:26am
hubba:

good morning from out here... I will continue to lurk while i work
  11:29am
Cecile:

I was thinking when I was doing my AM workout to the Old School Funk station on my TV is that the US needs to have a Manhattan Project to develop the next great funk show band. Where is the next Ohio Players? The next Parliament? I think the economic stimulus, particularly to rust belt areas like Dayton, OH and Detroit would be immeasurable.
  11:29am
pierre:

@dc pat : i might have not searched well, it appeared to me that they have only the "bird splatter" shirt. (?) i would have loved to buy the "Escuche" one…
  11:36am
Oldhickorycontinental:

can't get enough of Richard Youngs.....
  11:37am
Oldhickorycontinental:

can't get enough of Richard Youngs.....
  11:37am
hubba:

Agreed! This Richard Youngs is beyond... this should go on all day, for a week, at least... i would keep it playing everywhere... everywhere
  11:38am
Tom G:

Richard Youngs channeling Arthur Russell.
  11:46am
Wild Neil:

80's kinda sound, sort of...the Cure a little...?
  11:49am
adam:

Horrid Red kinda sounded like Jim Shepard or something..am I crazy?
  11:50am
Oldhickorycontinental:

Horrid Red sounded like a silent party in almost any decade to me
  11:52am
Wild Neil:

Wooden Shjips rocks, thank you!
  11:52am
R I S K Y:

GO JASON. RIDING THE WAVE! HANG 5!
  11:53am
R I S K Y:

FAV GERMS TRACK!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAHHHH!
  11:53am
hubba:

There was a guy in Wooden Shijps when they first started giging that looked like Warren Zevon, complete with an all white outfit. That did it for me!
  11:53am
Wild Neil:

The beginnning sounded like Yes(?!)
  11:54am
lolo:

hello from belgium... "Rising" great track !!
  11:54am
Steve Howe:

Yep. I studied under Pat Smear.
  11:55am
Das:

Haha
  12:00pm
Das:

Ever notice Don Bolles looks Gaddafi? http://thelosangelesbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/DON-BOLLES1-150x150.jpg
