Happy late August Trouble! Went for a night swim (7-8pm) at the Central Park outdoor pool last night. So lovely. HIGHLY recommend using outdoor pools before the weather turns.

The thing with Ra is that the whole aura/experience of the live shows can never be captured on recordings. You really needed to be there, unfortunately no more. He used to sell unlabeled vinyl bootlegs at shows that came close, with sidelong jams directly from outer space.

@moose:The pool in CP is up in the NE corner. Take the BC train to 110 Street to get there (a lovely 10 minute walk). It's free! Best deal in the city. Nice and empty at that late hour.

It depends. I thought I'd give it a whirl and I really like it. It's a great way to find out about things you didn't know you cared about, if that makes sense.

My 10 year old son is all over it as well, talking with his skater buddies.

The Red Hook pool is huge and fabulous, especially the early session (11-2:45). Also, as a thematic confluence, I saw Sun Ra perform at the Astoria public pool once!

Hi Trouble, good morning all. I love Scritti Politti so much. Did I tell you I saw them play here in toronto in maybe 2008. There were fewer than 20 people in the audience. I brought my friend (wonderful singer) Mary Margaret Ohara with me. Surreal. I was glad the music blew her mind as it always did for me.

i know that she studied in Paris (cinema) now i think she's back in Japan, although she (apparently) come here (in Paris) quite often.

Her music has always this childish (as in "good, funny, laid back" kind of music ) touch, she has made a cover of Mr Tambourine Man that you could check/find easily.
