AMI DANG live on WFMU

Ami Dang seems to draw as much inspiration from Bollywood, Sikh hymns and North Indian classical music (she's trained in both voice and sitar) as from the fertile sounds of her native Baltimore (home to everything from Nautical Almanac to Scottie B). Her album Hukam -- released earlier this year on Ehse Records on vinyl, cd, and pay-what-you-want download -- has been in rotation on WFMU and on the Free Music Archive.

Ami Dang is joined by K8 from Teeth Mountain / Dan Deacon Ensemble on percussion, including Roto Toms.
Ami + K8 return to NY on August 25th to play at Bar Four in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Then again on Sept 24 at ESP TV (also airs on public access tv)

mike it is actually the culmination of all i hoped to create for my life.. unstable economy hopefully will keep us fed and somewhat comfortable. our expectations and desires are really downsized for sure. "simple life" is just that
  11:38am
Mike East:

speaking of simple life, have you read anything about "tiny houses" or know anyone who lives in one?
  11:43am
annie:

up here, well..... yes i've heard of them.. the favorite house up here in our region is the straw bale house. "tiny" houses may not fly up here, except maybe in the outskirts of the larger minicipalities. perhaps a straw bale can also be "tiny"? i guess prolly

("Glurp" is the sound of my tongue applauding this program. I think. Or maybe a giant seahorse shooting sea cucumbers at a telekinetic wall of cheese.)

Katya:
