  7:18pm
CB1:

either way, an excellent version!
  7:20pm
Don (minister of props):

Hi Monica - A note from next door to the Cyclones field - Aretha broke into what seemed to be an impromptu gospel recital at the piano when she 'bridged' Bridge Over Troubled Water and Still Water Runs Deep. Fully and beautifully orchestrated. Raw, ingenious and emotional. I was awestruck by her train.
Who's harmonizing with Nina?
  7:20pm
cubicle carl:

Humidity has ruined summer's good reputation.
  7:20pm
david:

between the humidity and the excellent tunes I will have to peel myself from the Listening Chair.
  7:21pm
seang:

Man, I feel like getting stoned tonight
  7:22pm
cheri:

monica--so what do think of jerry lewis being fired?? let that be the topic for tonight,,, what do think mo??

  7:28pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

  7:28pm
Julie:

  7:29pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

  7:29pm

  7:32pm

  7:36pm
trs:

Humidity is the mud of the air.
Here's to cool clean sheets
  7:36pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

I do kind of agree with what George Clinton once said, "Disco is like making love with just one stroke ..'' it kinda killed the really hard corre/ get down in your face funk of the early 70's ..
  7:39pm
Julie:

ah that reminds me! Gotta put sheets in the dryer!
  7:39pm
T-Zero:

@Monica: Enjoying the show tonight. Looking forward to hearing what Funk does on Wednesday. (Born in 1956 so the flashbacks should be a hoot.)

@Everyone discussing the weather... Yeppers and yeppers. For the first time in weeks it's only 71 one here, but the rain and humidity anything touching is like its stuck with duct tape.

  7:47pm
Julie:

cheri, please stop interviewing me, okay?
  7:49pm
G:

Turkey Hill isn't the greatest, but it's $1.67 for a full pint around here right now. Anyone notice that Haagen D. went down to 14 oz (not a 16 oz legit pint) by making the hollow area underneath the bottom bigger. Da sneaky bastids.
  7:49pm
monica:

be, always a sure shot solution...butter says hello right back, julie... good taste, don't let it keep you from havin' a good time!... thanks, trs - and yes!..well hey there, jerry ol.l!! ...hola, dale - good suggestion re: evs...
  7:49pm
interviewer:

piss off,cheri
  7:50pm
Julie:

I haven't had HD in so long..it's the most fattening thing ever :/
  7:50pm
Listener Schned:

Totally agree with hooking up A/C with the fan, you can actually switch back/forth; totally agree with going direct to ice cream/swanning about in the WFMU t-shirt, too- Regards from Sweatchester !!!
  7:50pm
channeling Nardwuar:

cheri is too annoying for my taste
  7:51pm
Julie:

"swanning about," I like that phrase
  7:51pm
listener gary:

Ivie Anderson: you can watch her tear it up in Day at the Races!!! Hey , dj Monica!!
  7:52pm
other david:

It has become autumnal and cold already here in Ireland, about 50F. Almost reaching for a jumper!

Think I'll make some tea actually, that'll do it.

Loving the tunes Monica, very very chilled out :)
  7:52pm
programmer:

eclectic sophisticated easy listening always works for a sunday night.
  7:54pm
Julie:

that was GREAT
  7:54pm
texas scott:

@other david...sounds like heaven.
i shall dream of Ireland tonight.
  7:54pm
Julie:

@OD I'm coming over, I'll bring a sweater
  7:54pm
Julie:

Keep Cool Tip: Be Irish
  7:56pm
G:

Turkey Hill is "light", 400-500 calories a pint. HD is like 1200-1300 cals even at 14 rather than 16 oz.

One must maintain one's girlish figure, I always say. Turkey Hill is not as good, but it *is* ice cream and gets me past that jonz.
  7:57pm
sugarwolf:

Ooo, looking forward to the EFD Disco Party. I was too busy being born and being a baby to listen to disco the first time around.
  7:58pm
Doug S.:

Oh my do I love Ivie Anderson! Oh my do I love Sunday evenings with Monica!
  7:59pm
seang:

that Network Awesome site is blowing my mind
  8:00pm
david:

My keep cool tip is those old-fashioned popsicles wrapped in plastic, like these: http://bit.ly/rkJ4H1 Kind of goes with the high fructose corn syrup theme of last week's sodas and Dallas BBQ frozen margaritas...
  8:00pm
monica:

Hi G, ice cream prices are CRAZY these days - that said, love Haag Daazs Pralines & Cream.... Listener Schned, a cool breeze to you, sir...Hi Listerner Gary - I know she's your type... other david, lovely to hear from a cuz in the old sod. thanks for tuning in... sugarwolf - i think we've got a group date going for EFD this week!...Doug S.!! Always too cool....
  8:03pm
Julie:

can you make popsicles out of captain morgan and coke?
  8:03pm
Julie:

I wonder if they still have those plastic things where you could make your own popsicles
  8:05pm
david:

@Julie we have some of those in a corner of a cabinet of our house... remnant of some former roommate... but they look really old school...
  8:05pm
G:

@Monica: Yeah, 4.49 for 14 oz of HD. WTF. I remember premium ice cream around 1990 being under 2 bucks. During the last 20 years the overall inflation rate has not been a total of 150% (from 2.00 to over 4.50 a pint). General inflation has been 3% or so a year, not 7%+ a year for 20 years.

"They" just know they have some of us hooked, and price HD accordingly.
  8:06pm
Julie:

snacks? Near the station? Where?!
  8:07pm
texas scott:

they do still make them,Julie
alcohol is hard to freeze, tho

thanks for the cool,Mo
  8:07pm
Julie:

They were great! the little built in "stick" on the top.
  8:08pm
G:

They have freezable pops for 99 cents per package of 10 at Key Food. In my area of Brooklyn, I see the Jewish Orthodox moms and the Jamaican moms all stocking up on them.

Let's all hold hands and sing kumbayah! :-)
  8:09pm
CB1:

@ panties - Didn't MM do that in 7 Year Itch?
  8:09pm
Julie:

@Tex, even with coke around it though? I bet it's hot as hell down there in TX. Summer time I am so glad I moved north!
  8:10pm
david:

Yeah, I have a distinct madeleine-like memory of orange juice on a plastic stick... My mom was a Tupperware lady and they were all over that.
  8:11pm
dale:

love the yvonne decarlo tale. i have her album 'yvonne decarlo sings', and sadly unremarkable. no julie london that miss wye-von.
  8:11pm
trs:

I did beercicles last year. Not the best idea. Doing diy ice cream sandwiches this year. Italian wafer cookies and a few spoons of ice-cream, mm.

  8:12pm
david:

  8:13pm
Julie:

I'd like to know how to make my own slurpees! Now that would be a nice treat in this weather.
  8:14pm
G:

@david: Different stores price them differently, probably depending on what the local area will tolerate The exact same pack of 10 freezable pops that is 99 cents at Key Food in Central Brooklyn is 1.99 at KF in Staten Island.
  8:14pm
david:

Who was talking about song titles the same as band names, and possibly album names?
  8:16pm
cheri:

monica,,,julie i want the princess fiona gown,, cause i that would be cool!!!
  8:17pm

*catches up on ice cream conversation*

Damnit, now I've got a longing for an ice cream soda
  8:20pm
Julie:

This music is great for a stormy, monsoony night. Wish it'd rain already.
  8:21pm
listener gary:

fig newtons broken up and stirred into Hagen dos chocolate and refrozen is a real summer evening treat.Hard to sip thru a straw tho...
  8:21pm
G:

Someone here with me suggests gin and limeade pops as "killer". I bet those will be made later this evening, now that the memory's been jogged.
  8:21pm
Richard from Venezuela:

This sounds great. Maybe you'll be interested Monica.

  8:47pm
dale:

WOO! on shepp! which station offered up the paco panties? i miss the quiet storm..."wait a minute mister, a table for two."
  8:47pm
texas scott:

holy shit...there come the saints!!
  8:48pm
other david:

Julie - except for a sad young man crying outside a superstore... looking at the pavement where he dropped his icecream.

Epic tragedy.
  8:48pm
Steve L:

Dale, love Hartfield flea market. Just got a selection of pre-war martini shakers and the British vinyl version of Electric Ladyland, which came in two separate sleeves, neither of which had naked ladies on them.
