Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Favoriting August 4, 2011: The Dusty Show Summer Glitch (re-run from 1/6/11)

Artist Track
Clay Pigeon  The Dusty Show   Favoriting
Thanks to Julie for filling-in while I was at my class reunion! I had an entire NEW show prepared for you and IT CRAPPED OUT! Something wrong with the CD. Imagine my horror when, In Iowa, driving down Interstate 80, I had tuned in to catch the episode and I heard some old show from years ago. I almost went in the ditch. I was so mad. I worked really hard on the new episode and ran it over to Julie at 5am before my wife and I headed to the airport. Jeez. How disappointing. Still, you guys stayed around and made comments and I appreciate that, truly. You are the best. I think I'll play the show next week in its entirety, even though it will be as stale as a 10-day old Pringle. We'll see. I will post it one way or another. Very hard for me to broadcast an episode that isn't fresh. I always want to do something new every week.

Anyway ... that's what happened.

Julie:

  6:22pm
other david:

Julie - will normal service be resumed next week, or will Fabio and Clay still be on vacation?
  6:23pm
dale:

jane got tarzan hooked on sneezing powder, so he was a junkie too. clay is forgiven for the gaffe.

  6:26pm
other david:

Awesome, glad to hear it :)

Enjoying this archive show - haven't heard it before
  6:27pm
J J:

Man, that was six hours straight of non-interactive chit chatty playlists this afternoon and now a Clay rerun. I bet he'll come back to look at the comments. We should have played a joke and left comments like it was the worst show ever.
  6:28pm
Julie:

Oh don't you dare, he's a sensitive soul. Sorry for the rerun, nothing I can do. He'd have a fit if I took over :D
  6:29pm
E Double:

Where is Clay now Union Square or Washington Square...god forbid he actually did one of these shows off the island of Manhattan
  6:29pm
E Double:

Or above say.....70th st.
  6:30pm
E Double:

How's Obama doing...
  6:30pm
Julie:

I remember him doing a show while he was driving somewhere, but he was alone. Maybe he'll interview some folks at the reunion!
  6:30pm
david:

Whatever, this is a good archive selection. There's no way you can capture all the special dusty moments the first time around. Dusty moments.
  6:32pm
Julie:

well I picked it based on whomever it was who said how hot it was! So, you win, thank you for programming.
  6:33pm
E Double:

There is no city more vain about its position in popular culture, more indifferent to other realities, more self absorbed than New York City." -- David Simon
  6:33pm
dale:

too much dustiness makes a dust bunny under the bed.
  6:34pm
E Double:

This is a fine selection, I'm just saying Clay needs to go interview people somewhere besides lower Manhattan.
  6:34pm
Ant:

Clay, is your business card a standard issue WFMU card, or something more unique?
  6:35pm
david:

see, rod mckuen... it doesn't get dustier...
  6:35pm
Julie:

Clay has a specially designed card.
  6:35pm
Clay:

My card is quite unique.
  6:36pm
E Double:

Weather =/= Climate
  6:36pm
dale:

but manhattan is the epicenter of the rich and the homeless. it's the perfect place for his interviews. mall of america might be nice, though.
  6:38pm
E Double:

People are really pissed at Obama, I'm talking about hard core people who volunteered a lot of time on his campaign in 2008 are super super pissed.
  6:39pm
E Double:

But it's hard to tell how well he is doing there is a gang of mofo's who are just hell bent on seeing him do poorly it's kooky.
  6:40pm
E Double:

Clay is a skilled interviewer. He seems like a very sincere person.
  6:42pm
other david:

Great interviewer and just a really nice guy, he's one in a million
  6:43pm
E Double:

Great sense of humour....
  6:43pm

  6:46pm
Stu Range:

I've heard that he once saved an ugly duckling from an oil spill and raised it to be the most beautiful swan.
  6:46pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Oh, was that interviewee ever wrong about 2011! Dow drops 513 and no end in sight...
  6:49pm
david:

@dpcd Yes, I was cringing when I heard that optimism on a day like today!
  6:49pm
dale:

i LOVE this piece of music behind the british lady. it's focus.
  6:52pm
Julie:

OUCH
  6:52pm
other david:

  6:54pm
david:

  6:54pm
other david:

Decent folks like Clay and the guy he's interviewing are what stop me becoming a complete misanthrope
  6:54pm
dale:

so if everyone is selling off stocks, who's buying them?
  6:57pm
david:

you get the impression that if someone meant harm to Clay, he'd have them interviewed and in tears in 5 minutes.
  6:57pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

@dale:
Not me.
  6:58pm
hamburger:

other people I guess, at a lower price than previously valued - or some crap - no idea how it works... :)
  6:58pm
Julie:

whenever I see hamburger i get hungry. Almost dinner time!
  6:59pm
dale:

you need to market your urinary device mr. cab driver. your future is then secured.
  6:59pm
other david:

julie - ditto!
  7:00pm
dale:

clay must have forggoten to hit the 'burn' button
  7:01pm
12539:
