Listener comments!

Mon. 8/1/11 3:05pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

presenting Mr. Scott Williams manning the boards!
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:07pm Wild Neil:

Yep, this sums up most of the poeple I have met and read about...
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:09pm T-Zero:

Now that was what you call a smooth track transition. (applauds)
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:19pm hubba:

Everything thus far is so out of control... kudos
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:22pm Adam:

Make the world a better place and drop Leona Anderson next!
Mon. 8/1/11 3:23pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

I look into your EYES!
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:25pm Rats:

What's the trouble?
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:25pm Scott W:

Hey everyone! Thanks for listening. Adam, maybe later...
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:35pm hubba:

Question: How much of what you play if from your own collection and how much is from what is available at the station? There are numerous things that are shared, of course, but I'm just curious how much of your own paycheck goes toward making this magic happen.
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:35pm hubba:

um, is this the burning star core guy?
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:35pm BSI:

I'll get this round. What are you having?
Mon. 8/1/11 3:36pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

catharsis with a paradigm shift
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:37pm Looms:

Do you loke cucumber ice creams?
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:37pm BSI:

DCE: That's a porter, innit?
Mon. 8/1/11 3:38pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

trans-porter, why yes!
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:40pm Irene:

I haven't heard this in ages! Thx!
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:41pm Adam:

@hubba yeah, that's the bsc guy - I can't wait to hear more pop stuff from him
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:42pm frenchee:

... pretty
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:43pm hubba:

@ Adam, thanks... that was a curve ball, but it sounded great!
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:49pm frenchee:

so right before you told us listeners that was Robert Wyatt singing, I googled it and found this:
"Wyatting"

Recently the verb "Wyatting" appeared in some blogs and music magazines to describe the practice of playing weird tracks on a pub jukebox to annoy the other pub goers.
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:50pm Scott W:

frenchee, that's hilarious - but I don't understand! Really?? People find Robert Wyatt annoying??
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:51pm Scott W:

hubba, I ain't got much the FMU library ain't got, but I do still bring a buncha stuff from home. Sometimes
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:52pm hubba:

That all started when Kevin Costner was filming Wyatt Earp on location in the UK, he would pull these shenanigans with local towns people... usually he was still in "old west" garb, and thus pranksters picked-up the practice to represent the genius that is Kevin Costner.
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:53pm Scott W:

Whew... ask Marty McSorley about his new tattoo
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:53pm BSI:

...as for the practice of "Wyatting," there used to be a diner nearby with Barry McGuire's EVE OF DESTRUCTION on the jukebox. Now, when you've had a long night & you're repairing some well-earned damage with endless cups of coffee on a Sunday morning, and you happen to have a pocket full of quarters........ who could refuse?
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:55pm hubba:

@Scott, thanks for answering... I always wonder how much of the dj's personal goes into some fo these shows... while the vaults are deep there, it is always so personal, these shows, that I'm like, "this is what their record collections look like? Dear Lord!"
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:55pm frenchee:

Wyatting sounds like FMU S.O.P. to me.
  Mon. 8/1/11 3:59pm T-Zero:

except instead of annoying listeners it only annoys other stations lol
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:05pm Curious:

Is his new tattoo a picture of a 45 center-hole adapter?
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:06pm Scott W:

A: Nope.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:06pm Curious:

awww
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:07pm frenchee:

is it el lay-themed?
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:08pm Scott W:

ummm, sorta, but not directly
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:15pm frenchee:

hmm
<intrigued>
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:18pm T-Zero:

A Kevin Costner tat?
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:19pm hubba:

I bet is Kevin Costener from Bull Durham... it was the number one tatoo in 2 countries 7 years ago: Bolivia (duh!) and Estonia (double, duh!)
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:21pm T-Zero:

Either that or one of Jor-El lol
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:23pm hubba:

Dances with Durham
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:27pm Scott W:

T-Zero wins
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:27pm still b/p:

Wyattworld.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:27pm moose:

ah just got home, in from wicked heat, time to enjoy this show by the air conditioner
growing up in nj, my jukeboxes were tableside diner jukeboxes
the most recent i used was at the now gone! tunnel diner in jersey city
they had 'slow dog' by belly, which i played every time
hello all
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:28pm moose:

that was a long comment i left! beg pardon
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:29pm T-Zero:

I wouldn't have had any idea, except recently he was talking about how he considers Costner a person hero.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:30pm fred:

wyatting? I thought it was called dondestaning, since that album was supposedly used for annoying pub folks.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:30pm T-Zero:

personal
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:32pm Emily:

like!
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:33pm fred:

that record sounds like it has been played a million times
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:33pm hubba:

In some HR departments he IS a personnel hero... Field of Untouchable Bodyguads
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:34pm Mike East:

@moose - my local diner used to have those to, but the got rid of them a few years back when they renovated.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:35pm T-Zero:

@Emily: So melodramatic.
Mon. 8/1/11 4:36pm Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Scott and all the listeners.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:37pm T-Zero:

I still love Leader of the Pack.
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:37pm moose:

i can still feel what those jukeboxes felt like on my child-fingers when i think about it, the buttons, the dial up top to flip the pages, ahh! and look, a complimentary health salad
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:38pm BSI:

I can hardly contain my joy.
in fact, i shall not.
Mon. 8/1/11 4:40pm Brian in UK:

Love the sound of those table side juke boxes. Wonder what happened to them? There is NOTHING like putting a side on a juke preferable pre 1967
Mon. 8/1/11 4:47pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

I remember playing that Tommy Tutone 867 5309 song on one of those back in the early 80s while eating greasy fries and a bad burger.
Mon. 8/1/11 4:55pm Brian in UK:

A GOOD wyatting Love Makes Sweet Music by Soft Machine. Probably a Kevin Ayres vocal rather than himself.

Auggie doggie & doggie daddy? What does it mean?
Mon. 8/1/11 4:55pm marika from estonia:

  Mon. 8/1/11 4:56pm Scott W:

  Mon. 8/1/11 4:57pm moose:

Mon. 8/1/11 4:58pm Brian in UK:

Just saw the programme title and wrote before engaging brain. What's new?
  Mon. 8/1/11 4:59pm moose:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:01pm don:

and now it is i who can hardly contain my joy, bsi
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:01pm T-Zero:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:02pm Scott W:

Happy Auggie, all
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:03pm still b/p:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:03pm T-Zero:

Ok. I have to ask. What's the story behind this group name? Blue Sausage Infant
Mon. 8/1/11 5:03pm Brian in UK:

I was extending what might or might not be there.

Had to check, Scott. It was Wyatting. Ayres on the B produced by Kim Fowley.
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:04pm T-Zero:

@Brian: ahhhh
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:10pm Bas, NL:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:10pm T-Zero:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:13pm T-Zero:

Mon. 8/1/11 5:14pm Cerulian Salami Toddler:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:22pm BSI CSI:

Riddle of how BSI got its name solved, albeit, anti-climactically so: http://www.doncampau.com/livingarchiveFeatures7-10.htm
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:26pm not noteable:

I can't stop weeping I can not, amy, damn, amy
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:30pm T-Zero:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:34pm don:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:57pm Alterante Title:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:57pm dale:

afternoon kids. Love, love LOVE starland band! of course they started out as john denvers back up musicioans. which leads to the not fcc-friendly john denver hit you always played...
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:58pm bruceleh:

Of, course, I might be the one tripping, and it's playing normally
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:58pm Looms:

Now I feel seasick :(
  Mon. 8/1/11 5:59pm other david:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:59pm glenn:

  Mon. 8/1/11 5:59pm asb:

That was gross in an interesting way.
  Mon. 8/1/11 6:00pm bruceleh:

Is this like the new style @ wfmu?
Don't Pseu and Kurt Gottschalk also vary the speed of some big pop hit
  Mon. 8/1/11 6:04pm rick r:

thanks. I don't feel dizzy anymore
  Mon. 8/1/11 6:14pm Scott W:

yeah, Kurt does this great thing where he opens his show with some scratchy 45 pop hit, then talks over it @ 33rpm for the rest of his show. Pseu often warps organ records she talks over. Diane Kamikaze used to do a 45@33 thing pretty regularly
