You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Listener comments!

  Mon. 7/11/11 9:11pm El Runk:

One of the 1st records I listened to. No Joke. My father got it on a 78 !
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:12pm El Runk:

The Armstrong I mean.
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:17pm El Runk:

Die im Dunkeln sieht man nicht...
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:27pm damien:

Hi, Dan B.
Greetings from Troy, New York
Hot night, cold beer, and WFMU
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:31pm dale:

great mix mr. bodah. hey damien - how's wrpi sounding these days?
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:36pm Joe Mulligan:

Difficult/extreme listening? Yes to all Dan! Can't wait!
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:36pm damien:

@dale. mmmm. the mighty WRPI needs a shot in the arm, sadly. Engineering students don't have much free time to be radio DJs, I guess!
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:37pm Tom L:

Great concept, Dan. Suggestions: Sun Circle 'Lessness'; Rose & Sandy 'Rose & Sandy Play Cat's Cradle'; Xela 'Of the Light and the Stars'; Tom Carter 'Siva-Sakhi'; *AR (Richard Skelton and Autumn Richardson) 'Rise'. I could go on and on.
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:47pm Tom L:

Holy Bing & Ruth. This the LP you're playing or the DL?
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:49pm Dan B:

@Tom L - this is the LP
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:51pm El Runk:

Hm, interesting task. Maybe Aethenor's "Jocasta" - or something else from "En Form for Blå". There is so much...
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:52pm Tom L:

@ Dan B: I'm so close to pulling the $20 trigger on the Bing & Ruth. Wow.
@El Runk: great suggestions.
  Mon. 7/11/11 9:55pm Tom L:

May I also suggest: Jon Mueller 'I almost expect to be remembered as a chair' side 2 of Alphabet of Movements. The small gong version.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:02pm Tom L:

This is amazing and weird for me to hear. Thanks, Dan!
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:02pm El Runk:

Or something from "Metals" !
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:06pm Dan B:

@Damien/Dale, thanks for checking in & sorry to hear about WRPI -- I grew up occasionally getting their signal and finding crazy new stuff through them.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:07pm Dan B:

@Tom L & Runk, thanks for all the suggestions, lots I don't know well and will have to check out.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:14pm Tom Miller:

Hi Dan, I'm back from Iceland with new music handpicked for the show by the owner of Bad Taste Records in Reykjavík.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:16pm joe mulligan:

heres some long form/extreme picks: Celer, Kevin Drumm, Deathprod, Eleh, Machinefabriek, Chris Watson, Svarte Greiner, PanSonic (from Gravitoni)
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:20pm Dan B:

@Joe, thanks, great ideas! @TomRM - awesome - Bad Taste it is!
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:21pm El Runk:

Folke Rabe's "What ??" - Side 2 !
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:22pm El Runk:

And thanks for the Wissem !
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:26pm Tom Miller:

Way way way back in the day I used to listen to WRPI which we could pick up in western Massachusetts. They had a great format on Sundays--classical in the morning, blues all afternoon, jazz in the evening, progressive and experimental after midnight.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:27pm Tom Miller:

This sounds like gagaku on kazoos.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:35pm damien:

i often take long-term ambient sound measurements for my job. the things i hear on the replay! nothing funnier than the sound of a drunken man urinating off his porch at 3 am. howling coyotes are the best, though.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:36pm El Runk:

Zloty Dawai !!!
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:41pm Tom Miller:

@damien, what kind of job is that?
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:46pm damien:

@Tom. Acoustical Engineer. I love me some "Difficult Listening"
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:50pm Dan B:

@damien, how do you get a job like that? It sounds like my ideal profession -- maybe I went to law school in vain!
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:50pm Dan B:

@El Runk, I think we'll find a place for some ZD tonight.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:51pm Tom Miller:

Tell me more, @damien. I've just been asked to put together a panel for the Audio Engineering Society's fall meeting and I'm looking for ideas.
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:52pm damien:

@Dan B. (I took the LSAT and worked for a contract lawyer for 3 years...enough was enough!)
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:53pm Dan B:

@damien, smart man...no wonder you like this show so much!
  Mon. 7/11/11 10:57pm damien:

@Tom. I assure you, Tom, there are much more qualified weirdos that could offer such advice! (Call the TapeOp guys),

My first recommendation: Reverberation measurements at your favorite bar. You will need several large balloons...and 2 beers for every balloon.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:00pm Tom L:

The Lowland Hundred: one of the best bands working right now. Get ready for a new release soonish... They are astonishing.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:01pm El Runk:

just beautiful.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:02pm Tom L:

@El Runk: get this album, seriously. Incredible from start to finish.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:05pm Tom Miller:

@damien, thanks I will check it out. We're putting together a workshop track on preservation and archiving.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:05pm El Runk:

I will !
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:09pm Tom L:

@El Runk Great! The LH here: http://hundredacrerecords.greedbag.com/buy/under-cambrian-sky-1/ and try Tim Noble (the musical half of The LH). 'Diffaith' is superb: http://hundredacrerecords.greedbag.com/buy/diffaith-0/
Mon. 7/11/11 11:09pm fly on the wall:

i suppose ya'll all know 'bout " the soundtracker " guy ? cool documentary
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:11pm giraffe-o:

Good Stuff, good stuff
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:16pm El Runk:

Thanks Tom! And wow - I love that Zloty Dawai !
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:22pm Dan B:

@El Runk, you would...seeing as how you're in the band. I have to say, this piece is wonderfful
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:26pm Tom L:

Ok, @El Runk. I love that (your tune) too. Awesome. And in the interest of full disclosure, I = Hallock Hill (on Hundred Acre Recordings). I've heard better music on Dan's show that anywhere in the last five years!
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:30pm Tom Miller:

Since we're confessing, I admit it: I wrote "Hey Jude."
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:31pm Dan B:

Tom Ross Miller! You really *have* done everything!!!!
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:31pm El Runk:

Haha ! I knew it all the time !
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:32pm Dan B:

I too have a confession. I am not actually DJing at all. I just prerecorded the mic breaks and gave them to Bryce Kretschman, since he is so much better at cueing records and seques and all that professional DJ stuff I could never be bothered with.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:34pm Tom L:

I have 95% hearing loss.
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:38pm El Runk:

whats "hearing" again ?
  Mon. 7/11/11 11:42pm El Runk:

Oh, and Zloty Dawai is at Bandcamp, too: http://zlotydawai.bandcamp.com/
