Stupid hotel room wireless is buffering like crazy. All I got to hear was Mike discussing "Bound" and then things got choppy (on my end - sounds like things were already choppy in your side of this nation).

Joe's Taco Truck:
I’m with APMike on Jonathan Franzen – I’ve held him at arm’s length because I get a sort of bougie a-hole vibe from him. Haven’t been sure if I wanted to take the dive with his work yet or not. I’ll be the dissenting voice on Blue Valentine – I liked it. Your criticisms about the gutted narrative are valid, though whether or not that bothers a viewer is a matter of personal preference. With certain films, a strong negative reaction can be an effective result. Blue Valentine may simply be one of those movies. I didn’t feel that it was an insightful story at all, but it did function at a sort of gut level. The value of that is debatable, but it's better than being forgettable entirely.
