Mon. 6/27/11 3:13pm

If only they'd played a version like this in strict A/B alternation with the original a few decades ago, it would've brought some mercy to the noogie-ing repetition.

Are they sampling or covering West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band... "hear them marching, hear the drums..."
|
Mon. 6/27/11 3:27pm
Cecile:
You did a great job, Scott. I hope you feel the urge to give "Wonderful Tonight" some auditory surgery with no anesthetic.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 3:28pm
Scott W:
Good ear Hubba! I think they're samplers - HEY KOOL AID! You there?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 3:30pm
Hubba:
Thanks... I love that song, either way, this is a nice hallucinatory excursion... suppose they give a war...

Mon. 6/27/11 3:30pm

"Auditory surgery with no anesthetic" -- heh, Cecile, good one. I'd love to hear that.

Hi there! Les Baxter sounded like some kind of Morricone western soundtrack :)
|
Mon. 6/27/11 3:39pm
Eric Crapton:
I demand that you cease playing my songs in that manner. This show is becoming too silly.

|
Mon. 6/27/11 3:54pm

I've been addicted to Cab Calloway's delivery of this for decades, but this here is rat goot. I approve.

Mon. 6/27/11 4:11pm

|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:12pm
Carmichael:
I would love to play God with Traktor. Scott, kick some entire Boone family ass today, please.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:12pm

This one suggests a David Lynch moment, with a starkly lit, overmade-up singer.

Mon. 6/27/11 4:15pm
Scott W:
yep, traktor is funnnnn
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:16pm
still b/p:
Oh, the intense singer moment is a recurring thing for David. Debbie was singing to Jesus for real, so in our new scene he's the one who could be in a theater box nearest the stage, drunk, weepy and blowing kisses.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:18pm
Scott W:
but who was Joseph Brooks singing to?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:18pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
so this is the same band as the Detachable Penis song....I never knew...
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:18pm
Shawn:
Damn, I love this song! | |
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:19pm
Continuity:
But does Debby Boone have twin peaks?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:19pm
Scott W:
yep, same album even | |
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:20pm
Cecile:
Joseph Brooks was singing to his image in the mirror, Scott.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:21pm
BSI:
hate to be the token hawkwind comment guy, but the bones of that king missle tune were like 80% Winds of Change. Okay, geekout over. Back to the cage with the demon geese....
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:23pm
Scott W:
Hey Hawkwind Guy! Nice to see you
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:23pm
Carmichael:
@BSI: Winds of Change popped up on my iPod machine yesterday, to the lilt of searing meat and glurping of beer. It was a serene moment.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:24pm
Carmichael:
Cecile, hopefully he was singing with an emergency light for a mic.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:24pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
you shouldn't glurp your beer---leads to poor digestion
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:25pm
Cecile:
Yeah. What a creep. You should read the reviews of You Light Up My Life - I remember them back in the day - nearly everyone bashed the film for Brooks's creepieness and narcissism.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:26pm
Dave B:
and don't let your meat loaf
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:26pm
still b/p:
I only heard a while ago about Brooks' other personal tales. Serially criminally creepy.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:26pm
Wendy del Formaggio:
I'm just tuning in right now. Hello Scott! Sorry I missed the Hawkwind rip-off. What does Weehawkwind have to say about that?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:28pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
what's the cheese of the day, Wendy?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:31pm
Cecile:
his son is also a monster.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:31pm
JT:
Anyone know the name of the bouncy tune that was playing during the first part of the current airbreak?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:32pm
Carmichael:
Yikes, I wasn't paying attention to my Hollywood scandals. Not only does he look like Phil Spector, he's got an extra layer of scum due to his criminal sleaze.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:33pm
Scott W:
Hi JT - it's Nola | |
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:33pm
Wendy del Formaggio:
DCE, today's cheese is not too exciting, I'm afraid. It's a somewhat industrial cheese from Austria called "Grinzing." It's pasteurized cows' milk -- might be part-skim -- and it is very similar to yogurt cheese. As workaday as it is, it is also pleasant and "snacky." Melts nicely, too.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:34pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
well, the hard-working blue collar cheeses need some recognition as well...
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:35pm
JT:
Thanks Scott! One of those tunes I heard a long time ago (piano accompaniment for a silent movie maybe) and it's been a semi-recurring earworm ever since.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:36pm
Cecile:
DCE, ITA. You have to have the cheeses that are the equivalent of the good local pilsners.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:39pm
Cecile:
Sometimes you want the hoppy beerse taste like fireworks. other times you want something smoooth.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:39pm
MarmaladeKitty:
Hi Scott! great show.. is the homepage on the blink again?
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:40pm
Bas, NL:
@ WdF.. 'Grinzing'.. eeeww.. doesn't sound very tasty. More like something you apply to ball bearings.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:41pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
homepage was fixed this morning...I just reloaded it and it came up fine.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:41pm
Scott W:
yeah, homepage looking fine here in firefox
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:42pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
love those little guitar squiggles...remind me of Mike Oldfield's vibrato
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:43pm
BSI:
...still convinced Circle can do no wrong. They can certainly do ?!?!?!?!?! ... but not "wrong."
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:43pm
Bas, NL:
Hello Scott; tuned in just in time... what a magnificent Circle track!!!
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:45pm
Carmichael:
Never heard of Circle. They're definitely not Cyrkle. But they are pretty good. Like a dry-hopped IPA.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:45pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
yeah, this is awesome, looks like it came out last week
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:46pm

yep, right after they got the hair metal outta the system. Hullo Bas!
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:50pm

You're an industrial one, Mr. Grinzig, You really are a prole... You're a melty little snack cog, You've got yogurt in your soul, Mr. Grinzig..
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:52pm
Hubba:
My boss jsut asked me if I gave my daughter a taste of beer... what do you say to that? "uh, yes, I'm a beacon of good intention, duh!"
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:53pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
good one, Doctah! | |
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:53pm
Hubba:
in reference to the question, "do you like beer?" Because my daughter wrote for a father's day wall hanging, that is in my cubicle, that I enjoy drinking beer.. she is 5
|
Mon. 6/27/11 4:54pm
Hubba:
Thanks for the awesome set today... off to a meeting. peace ya'll

|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:43pm
Cecile:
I grew up drinking sips of beer, and tiny glasses of wine at special occasions. Apart from some college wildness, I've been a pretty moderate drinker since.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:44pm
Cecile:
Hubba, when I went to the bar with my dad, I'd always ask for a 7-Up with an olive in it - it looked like my dad's martinis...:/
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:44pm
Hubba:
I've noticed the waistline expanding with the temperature heating-up... I think I'll go along with my daughter and be an all day whiskey hound.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:47pm
Hubba:
I'll get the root beer ina bottle, and everytime, which is like 3 hours from now, she'll say, "no fair, you get beer and i get nothing." Then I punch her in the mouth and say, "you got yours, now go eat the stale macaroni!"
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:48pm
Hubba:
joking, joking... child abuse makes me cringe unless it is in a movie, then it is okay.
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:55pm
Joel Steinberg:
I concur. | |
|
Mon. 6/27/11 5:58pm
