Listener comments!

  2:33pm
Billy Retro Jam:

This will be both the fifth & final KUSF In Exile show in the 2011 WFMU live remote series from Lightrail Studios in the Bayview District of San Francisco, and also the last WFMU show that I'll be doing for a while. It's been a blast. Thanks for a listening today and everyday. WFMU rules. KUSF FM once ruled and hopefully will again.....so bring it back and join the fight to SAVE KUSF - go to savekusf dot org for more details. And of course keep supporting WFMU with your ears and your wallets when the Marathon time rolls round again.
  2:57pm
Bad Ronald:

Thanks for everything Billy Jam! Best to you, you will be missed. Peace!
  3:03pm
paul:

gotta love college radio sticker walls/cabinets
  3:03pm
Ken:

Sounding great Billy! Hi Kenya!!
  3:09pm
Adam in Portland:

Billy Jam, it's a great, great loss for both us avid listeners and WFMU both that you won't be doing your show, for awhile. I just hope this proves very temporary. You embody so much of the spirit of the best attributes of free-form radio, Sir. I wish you the highest best times this summer.
  3:10pm
Adam in Portland:

P/S, this X interview (care of KUSF) is such a pleasurable look back on a different musical zeitgeist.
  3:12pm
Billy Retro Jam:

Thanks so much for the kind words Adam and Bad Ronald......I will be back on September 23rd live from the UK doing another exclusive WFMU remote from Old Jersey's Branchage Film Festival
  3:12pm
Adam in Portland:

Ahhhh, the DI's, a fresh new band of upstarts...for the kids. ;-)
  3:13pm
Adam in Portland:

@Billy: that's fantastic to hear. I look forward to it with great anticipation.
  3:15pm
ben drinken:

this is pretty sad for me. no more Billy Jam on what made Friday afternoons for so long. hopefully he will be available for the odd remote broadcast here and there and appear on air with other djs if he happens by the wfmu studio. dammit i will miss Billy Jam.
  3:16pm
Billy Retro Jam:

These are among the endless hours or Bay Area community radio I taped on cassette back in the 1980's....I have tons more of other stations too....I personally began on radio (KALX) in 1984....followed by KPFA in 1985 and KKCY in 1986......etc etc.....
  3:17pm
I B Buggin:

play one from the archives, 3-6 friday, if you want. TIME SHIFTY!
  3:21pm
Ike:

Don't worry Drinky, Billy Jam will surely be back. He has taken summers off before.
  3:22pm
djspidermanc:

Billy Jam missing on WFMU is something we just have to come to terms with every now n then. does mi feckin ead in but thank fook its only temporary, >raises a glass to Billy Jam , propper geeza, ..<
lovin these tapes
  3:24pm
ben drinken:

I know he has taken summers off before but in his message he said for "a while" and "it's been a blast" those kind of words are usually used when the person has no real idea when or if be back again.
  3:25pm
Adam in Portland:

Billy, did/do you ever fraternize with Anthoney Bonet from KALX?
  3:30pm
ben drinken:

maybe Billy Jam has plans to have a traveling taco truck during the summer and will be back in the Fall.
  3:32pm
Billy Retro Jam:

yeah I know Anthony (Sex For Teens) Bonet for many years - Had not seen him since the accident - til fefw weeks ago when I ran into him in Berkeley - We plan on catching up soon
  3:33pm
Billy Retro Jam:

I'll be back...u can bet on that :)
  3:35pm
Emily:

thanks for playing that interview! so much fun! i love the B52s!
  3:36pm
Adam in Portland:

He's an old friend, from my days at Sub Pop, who I lost touch with many years ago. A fantastic true individual. I don't know of this accident. In the interest of privacy, maybe you can email me info about this. And please, if you remember, pass along my well wishes for his return to optimal health. I love that guy!
  3:40pm
Billy Retro Jam:

@Emily - I agree
  3:44pm
Bad Ronald:

Jam on it Man, I will look out for you in September! Have toasty summer.
  4:02pm
Carmichael:

Butt in chair, ears on speakers.
  4:08pm
ben drinken:

i am sure Kurt will be a good time for Friday afternoons on wfmu. I liked his show so far on Wednesdays. what a pressure on a dj knowing they are filling a spot now that was once occupied by a wfmu legend. same thing for Lamin on Sunday because of Jeff Sarge being gone.
  4:26pm
northguineahills:

Goddamn it Billy! Come back soon!
  4:28pm
Cecile:

what is this incredibly strange mixed up record?
  4:30pm
Ike:

(@Drinky, while nobody can deny Sarge status of WFMU legend, I, for one, will listen regularly to Lamin's show whereas I did not listen to Reggae Schoolroom regularly. Lamin is already approaching legend status as far as I am concerned. His fill-ins are very strong. He may get lots of flak from RS fanatics though, so I hope people like me will show him lots of support on his comments, if he turns them on.)
  4:32pm
ben drinken:

yes, ike to be honest i will enjoy Lamin. only so much regae i can handle, but love Jeff Sarge. he made regae tolrable. but would only tune in usually and hour before Glenn Jones.
  4:34pm
Carmichael:

Keep on a rockin' me, Billy baby. Baby, baby, baby.
  4:35pm
Ike:

@Drinkmaster Ben, yeah, it wasn't my cup of Jamaican hash at all (prefer dub) but Sarge has a really great, iconic DJ voice.
  4:38pm
northguineahills:

I need to get this Sebastian Speaks! It's wicked!
  4:39pm
northguineahills:

it would make a great scratch record!
  4:40pm
ben drinken:

coupled with this dog disc played at the same time would be the sounds of a crazy ass drunk man or lady on meds yelling at the dog and making comments about the government and people etc..
  4:41pm
smellin' a hit:

The dogs, they are out.
Who let them so, yo?
The dogs, they are out.
Who let them so, yo?
  4:42pm
Cecile:

woof! woof! woof! woof!
  4:44pm
Bossie:

moo moo moo moo
  4:48pm
Ike:

I have a murky and probably-inaccurate memory of the Sebastian Speaks! disc appearing in the long-lost lamented WFMU-curated Catalog of Curiosities. But I might be very wrong. When did that disc come out?
  4:50pm
Sister Hairy Hymen:

WHATS up this track its breaking up real bad
  5:09pm
Carmichael:

That Isao Tomita sure can rock it out.
  5:14pm
Richard from Venezuela:
