Casper:

  12:28pm
still b/p:

Maine. Guess he and his leg healed well enough to go on.
  12:30pm
Mike East:

ah, is that what happened? They were supposed to get backline from us for an nyc gig but they cancelled the day before. TM told me they'd be back in a few weeks, but I haven't heard back...I got worried that they went somewhere else.
  12:32pm
pierre:

i cannot listen, but i can comment, and i'm proud to tell you that "turlutte" is slang for wank
  12:33pm
pierre:

and the name of the artist is "De Temps Atan" wich is a play on word meaning from time to time.
  12:35pm
Handsome Harry:

I always thought "turlutte" was how they used to say "toilet" down in Jersey City and vicinity.
  12:35pm
Villon:

Mais où sont les neiges d'antan?
  12:37pm
37:

  12:38pm
agriculteur:

reteculteur ou rotoculteur?
  12:38pm
Handsome Harry:

This is great stuff from Menace Ruine. Quebecers can get it done as far as THE METAL is concerned.
  12:40pm
Battleaxe:

Enjoying vacation and this WFMU sound!
  12:40pm
still b/p:

Mike - I read he had to bail on the BOMB Festival because the leg diagnosis was just a few days before that. Not surprised if the schedule was still limping a while with other area dates. Pretty good to get his seasoned bones back at it again not much more than a week later. The funk will not be denied.
  12:41pm
37:

this is great...
i want to see them live!!
(and someone in my office asked me to turn it down)...
  12:42pm
Handsome Harry:

And a False Ending!
  1:01pm
Handsome Harry:

Great set.
  1:05pm
Jack:

Kurt,
i'll miss you on Wednesdays

  1:10pm
DJ KG:

  1:30pm
Looms:

This track is true beauty, wow!
  1:33pm
Cecile:

that's not a preacher. It's a priest. Or a pastor. LOL! Great Indian classical piece...
  1:35pm
Cecile:

but we correct with love!
  1:38pm
DJ KG:

i am a pooor heeethen deeejay
  1:40pm
12539:

Enjoying today's string selections.
  1:44pm
Cecile:

Anyone can preach. You have to go to seminary or divinity school or train as a deacon to give the sacrament in the Catholic, Lutheran or other mainstream Protestant churches. Pffft. Sunday school finally had some use.
  1:51pm
DJ KG:

huzzah!
  1:52pm
Cecile:

Great James Chance. He got a lot of grief for being "Irreverent" at the time, but this sounds great now.
  1:53pm
Mike East:

In the same vein, it takes no credentials to be "Reverend." That's what I read in that Tom Wolfe book, anyway.
  1:58pm
Cecile:

You used to be able to mail away and be a Reverend from the Church of Universal Life in old Rolling Stone personal ads.
  1:59pm
still b/p:

Cecile -- On the subject of reverence, if not reverends, UP is featured in a short piece in Smithsonian mag's May issue, if you want to give it a look and a grade.
  2:03pm
Handsome Harry:

Don't forget James Last (also known as "Hansi").
  2:05pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Remors have it that DJ KG is going to turn his show into a Power Metal & Disco Rock spectacular every friday for this summer. He will wear shades the entire time DJing and will be cracking brews open with one hand and slammin' em down. BOOM! Get ready for MAXIMUM Minotaurs with DJ Krazy Kurt!
  2:06pm
Minnesota Jeff:

rumors*
  2:09pm
37:

EXTREMELY ZAPPA.... LIKE I THOUGHT IT WAS A COVER AT FIRST...
  2:09pm
DJ KG:

or are zappa and james choice both extremely berio?
  2:10pm
DJ KG:

MAXIMUM MINOTAURS!!
  2:12pm
Minnesota Jeff:

DJ KG, can you confirm that will be DJing with no shirt, Pink/Black/White Zubaz pants, and a tank top tan line?
  2:13pm
DJ KG:

TOTALLY, DUDE! i'm trying to figure out if there's a way i can get an animated gif tattoo!
  2:15pm
Cecile:

you also need to have a 24k gold necklace of a 45 rpm record spacer resting just at your sterum.
  2:17pm
DJ KG:

DJKeilidh's mama makes those! i'm in!
  2:20pm
Cecile:

the photos are great. About unspoiled...huh. There are desert like areas in the Central UP where the forest was clear-cut and it has never returned back to its glory. If you go to Lake Superior around Frieda, the sand there is black - it's stamp sands from the mills. There are lots of strip malls where woods used to be and more than a few ghost towns. And did I mention meth labs?

Alberta is more than just a preserved utopian community - it's the site of Michigan Tech's forestry program.

I'll have to read the article, but the pic captions are interesting.
  2:20pm
Cecile:

there you go! And you have to have a soul patch.
  2:21pm
Minnesota Jeff:

"Todays Maximum Minotaurs program is brought to you by Boone's Farm's "Wild Island" flavored malt beverage. Keep it wild Krazy Kurt!"
  2:23pm
Cecile:

Speaking of Boone's Farm, the year it came out, nearly ever snow statue in Michigan Tech's Winter Carnival paid some kind of homage to it
  2:30pm
Cecile:

I was ten and all "what the heck is Boone's Farm?"
My dad goes, "some kind of fruit flavored wine."
"It must be really good if they are making statues about it."
He kept his laughter to himself, to his credit.
  2:31pm
Handsome Harry:

Now if only there were an animated .gif that could tell the tale of MAXIMUM MINOTAURS at a single glance. Alack.
  2:35pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Cecile - Boones Farm is no longer apple wine, they make it with malt. I guess some tax change made it either too expensive to do as wine, or just too cheap not to make it as a malt beverage.
  2:37pm
Cecile:

mmmm. gonna run right out and get some...tomorrow..
  2:38pm
Cecile:

how did that Beatles song go again...:D
  2:39pm
Minnesota Jeff:

I didn't know the Beatles wrote a song for Boone's Farm.
  2:40pm
Cecile:

I was going to say it was "Tomorrow Never Comes," but my old brain remembered "Tomorrow Never Knows." Which isn't the same thing.

So, I'm going to go run out and get some Boone's Farm....never.
  2:42pm
Handsome Harry:

Smashingly good sounds from the TILT Creative Brass Band right here. Boy howdy.
  2:43pm
Minnesota Jeff:

I think I will buy a bottle of Wild Island tonight and drink the entire thing whilst watching Hockey. Yes, I like this plan.
