Listener comments!

  12:00pm
Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back Tony!
  12:00pm
tonyc:

Hullo dere!
  12:01pm
BSI:

Dig!
  12:04pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Hola, Senor Tony!
  12:05pm
tonyc:

Hola, Senor ... and BSI too!
  12:05pm
Cash:

Is there a Give the Drummer Some radio schedule somewhere?
  12:06pm
Bryan:

Weeelll, he's back! So happy about that, too.
  12:07pm
Brian in UK:

Hello tonyc, cash just breathe in and you will absorb the schedule thru capillary action.
  12:07pm
Ricardo Montalban:

The Dog's Breakfast! They went downhill after their second album.
  12:08pm
tonyc:

Cash: No schedule yet, I'm afraid. Eventually there will be a GTDR page on the Website.

Hey there, Bryan & Brian!
  12:09pm
Brian in UK:

The Dog's Breakfast followed by The Dog's Fart. Deadly.
  12:09pm
Doug Schulkind:

Cash, there is no published schedule. Here it is (all times Eastern)...

Tony Coulter is on Tuesdays 12-3pm (new shows every other week, alternating with rebroadcasts)

Amanda Nazario's "Nazario Scenario," every Wednesday, 12-2pm

Doug Schulkind's "Give the Drummer Some," every Tuesday 6-7pm and Friday 9-noon.

[Charlie Lewis is off the schedule for now. His show, "Busy Doing Nothing," had been airing Thursdays 9-11am.]
  12:10pm
tonyc:

No published schedule I meant, of course. Thanks, Doug! And greetings....
  12:13pm
tonyc:

Sorry for messing up the accu-playlist. Order has been restored....
  12:15pm
tonyc:

Appropriately, National Lampoon's art rock suite is LONG!
  12:20pm
Alf from Upstate:

Can you imagine a brief art-rock suite? Unthinkable!
  12:20pm
BSI:

Weird: seems every rock LP from 1978 has the same sound re: the mic'ing of the drums. Hard to describe but during the quiet bits, the drums have the fingerprint recording sound of 1978...
  12:22pm
tonyc:

Know what you mean, BSI. I Like that sound better than the sound of a couple of years later when gating really kicked in. (Is "gating" a word?)
  12:24pm
Kay:

Hey Tony - THANKS for adding the Label column, hope it doesn't mess up your accu-playlist or your carpal tunnel!
  12:25pm
BSI:

indeed! Something brittle and midrange-y in the drum sound there... i'm certainly no studio tech & have no idea what i'm talking about... just a little eipiphany there. WFMU is good for that.
  12:25pm
tonyc:

You're welcome, Kay -- thanks for the suggestion! I knew it was a good idea, but needed a bit of prodding....
  12:27pm
Drummer Some:

Tony, I think your accu-playlist should have a column showing the musicians' astrological signs.
  12:28pm
tonyc:

And weights and eye color too....
  12:30pm
Kay:

Okay, okay, I will holster my prod and say, you have just enough columns.
  12:30pm
BSI:

...with the '70s franco-proggy flavor now I've got a hankerin' for Ange ('fils de lumiere' or some such). The inner nerd emerges. WFMU is good for that as well. Great show. I shut up now.
  12:32pm
Brian in UK:

tonyc how about 'Gateage' ref 12:22
  12:32pm
Kay:

...a Fifth Column
  12:35pm
tonyc:

BSI: No Ange today, but in the future for sure -- I've got most of their LPs in the house here.
  12:40pm
tonyc:

By the by, I'll be playing lots of Australian '80s stuff today.....
  12:43pm
tonyc:

Can anyone tell me: Is this Swedish?
  12:55pm
tonyc:

No Swedes in the house?
  12:57pm
Alf from Upstate:

Put another on Klaus Barbie, mate.
  1:08pm
tonyc:

Put another Klaus Barbie on it?
  1:08pm
marcury:

Greetings Tony, have been able to listen for awhile, nice to hear you.
  1:09pm
marcury:

oops meant haven't
  1:09pm
tonyc:

Greetings, Marcury! Nice to see you here.....
  1:10pm
tonyc:

The percussionist on this Noseflutes track is the great Roger Turner
  1:11pm
Ike:

Ah, Ron Johnson Records!
  1:13pm
tonyc:

Ah, Ike!
  1:14pm
Drummer Some:

Did someone say percussionist? (slurp slurp)
  1:16pm
tonyc:

Don't eat the percussionist, Doug.
  1:21pm
Drummer Some:

OK, well then pass the mushrooms.
  1:24pm
tonyc:

Had no idea you were a psychedelic cannibal, Doug!
  1:26pm
tonyc:

I'll lay off now -- eat your mushrooms in peace, brother.
  1:29pm
Drummer Some:

Way better than psychotic cannibal. Hey, I love this Jenny Omnichord. Sounds Laura Veirs-ish.
  1:29pm
tonyc:

The Jenny Omnichord thing is unreleased; took it off youtube. (She was in the Barmitzvah Brothers.)
  1:38pm
Ricardo Montalban:

goddamned meetings today. I missed huge chunks of the show and they won't let me listen during meetings
  1:38pm
tonyc:

Fire them all!
  1:39pm
scratchy records rule!:

You're apologizing for the quality of this record?! Man, this is mint condition compared to most of my stash!
  1:39pm
Daniel:

Wow, who know Todd Rundgren was an evangelical??
  1:39pm
Ricardo Montalban:

i need to find a way to exploit AMA so I can always have headphones on.
  1:40pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I meant ADA.
I have ADHD. No, actually, it's DADA (don't ask. don't ask)
  1:42pm
tonyc:

Maybe you could get ear-shaped headphones so no one will notice you're wearing them?
  1:44pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I actually thought of that! Spotted some comical, giant rubber ears at a costume shop. Might have to do that. "Are you laughing at my gigantic ears? That, sir, is harassment!"
  1:45pm
tonyc:

This Malachi track is another unreleased thing taken off youtube (like the Jenny Omnichord)
  1:48pm
tonyc:

Joe Wayman: downer folk kids' music
  1:51pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I have a soft spot for gloomy children's music, but then, I was a weird child.
  1:54pm
tonyc:

Hello there, Daniel and Scratchy Records! Didn't see you come in...
  1:57pm
tonyc:

Found the LP this AKA track is from on a recent trip to Olympia, WA -- which reminds me: Can anyone recommend things to do/see in Boise, Idaho? Will be going sometime next month....
  1:58pm
Jeremy:

Must go back and listen to the first halves of your shows, Tony! Just blew in on that soft summer wind...Marine Girls are just perfect for inhaling the hot breath of summer..
  1:59pm
tonyc:

Hey there, Jeremy! Glad you blew in with the summer wind....
  2:02pm
Jeremy:

Re: Idaho
Thrilling checker games
spelling bees cherry trees
playing pick-up sticks
grandma's stew
the cows and you
  2:06pm
tonyc:

Hmm: Stew, bees, cows, and sticks -- a lot to look forward to.
  2:08pm
tonyc:

"the chick with which I had a strong liaison" -- what a line!
  2:10pm
Jeremy:

Yes, well, advice from The Four Seasons (band, not hotel) is to be taken with some reservations.
  2:13pm
tonyc:

Point of (slight) interest: Tandy & Morgan are ELO escapees
  2:14pm
Jeremy:

Wow, love Tandy & Morgan.
  2:17pm
tonyc:

No more Idaho tips, anyone? I'm not big on bees and sticks....
  2:20pm
tonyc:

In case anyone's wondering why I'd want to go to Boise: As a lifetime New Yorker, no state seems more exotic to me than Idaho. The Heart of Whiteness!
  2:20pm
Drummer Some:

My daughter, who is home sick from school today, just came to my music room (in which I am blasting this show) and said, "If you are going play this song any more, you have to close the door. It is the MOST annoying song I have ever heard. Boy does she have some annoying music exploration ahead of her.
  2:21pm
BSI:

I've just been informed of the BRAINTICKET tour in the US this august (with nektar & huw lloyd-langton) ... Doesn't look like they've done euro fest gigs or anything in ages, so this might be a mindblowing thing or it could be..... scary.
  2:22pm
tonyc:

Doug: Was it Jack Bruce that horrified her?
  2:24pm
Kay:

I noticed that there is no link to the Drummer Some alternative stream on the playlist, nor seemingly any way to start it there. I just went to the homepage and found it there among the news items, and the Drummer Some probably has a page of its own, but thought I'd mention it since I got Diane Kamikaze by mistake.
  2:27pm
tonyc:

BSI: I'd lean toward scary. I love those early Brainticket albums, but I imagine the flame is long extinguished. But then again, I tend to be overly pessimistic about reunions
  2:28pm
Drummer Some:

No, I think it was LUC HENRION
  2:29pm
tonyc:

Kay: You are absolutely right, and it is confusing. Sometime soon, things will hopefully be more straightforward.
  2:30pm
tonyc:

Luc Henrion? That harmless track? She really has a lot of annoyance ahead!
  2:30pm
BSI:

Tony: That's exactly where I'm coming from. But then I've seen recent performances of personal heroes (cluster, faust) that have blown my cortex to pieces in the nicest possible way... ecch.... drama ... dillemma ...
  2:31pm
Kay:

Drummer Some...Lately I've been listening to Tony archive while doing the dishes around the house. If anyone complains, they can do the dirty dishes.
  2:42pm
Drummer Some:

Kay, I'll send my daughter right over.
  2:56pm
tonyc:

I'll be running over a bit today, as I wanted to play one last piece after the upcoming set break. Stick around if you can....
  3:01pm
Kay:

I hope you archive it all. Tony, when's your next blog posting? I enjoy your visual programming as well as your audio.
  3:05pm
Ike:

Provocative electronics? Heh, I like that. Fun track.
  3:05pm
tonyc:

Kay: The archive will be up in a couple of hours. My next blogpost will go up on June 16. It's been hard for me to keep doing bi-weekly posts now that I'm also doing radio shows again, but I'm going to shoot for once a month. Here's hoping....
  3:05pm
tonyc:

Thanks for listening everybody!! See you in two weeks....
  3:06pm
marcury:

Great show as always!
  3:07pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Marcury!!
  3:48pm
Bjarke:

tony, tandrock - opera is a danish performance, song in danish. I don't know about the band, but its possible that their name is tandrock.
  7:00pm
tonyc:

Ah -- thanks, Bjarke!
  1:27am
Stephanie Bonham:

Hi, I was wondering if you have 'Mongol le Gan' by Spanish Dogs, either in your collection or the station's library. Found a copy recently, but information is hard to come by online. Just wondering where yours came from.
