Dan B:
@AWS, that Religious Knives song is brand new -- from their new album on Sacred Bones called Smokescreen. Recorded in 2010 -- Maya Miller & Michael Bernstein, as usual, but joined in this one by Todd Cavallo on bass and Ryan Naideau on drums/percussion.

@Silas, goodnight! @slugluv, yes, may he truly rest in peace! @Patrick, glad you're finding the music heat-appropriate! I suggest a gin & tonic or three for the full effect.

if my donations aren't going to pay for gin and tonic restocking and an attentive on-site mixologist, what the hell are you doing with all that money? PRIORITIES, PEOPLE.
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:15pm
Dan B:
@dave, agreed -- I'm forwarding your comment to Station Mgr. Ken, stat!

Excellent, excellent. I won't have you people frittering away my pledge on frivolities.

Ahhh, early incoherent Cocteau Twins, before they were all sweetness and light! I liked them back then, with that hint of darkness.
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:35pm
Dan B:
@Ike, yes, they were quite a good band really.
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:40pm
Robert:
John Bachelor without Paul Alexander is reruns (WABC), so I figure I'll listen to Rich Conaty on WFUV. Wait a minute, that's not Rich Conaty. Then I realize it's Mon. night, not Sun. night. So here I am.
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:43pm
Robert:
Actually I have wondered at times which would best help keep the station going: $ for general budgeting, or rum for Irwin.

le le le le let it goooou | |
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:51pm
Dan B:
@Robert, sounds like you ended up in the right place. I think rum for Irwin should only be provided after I receive my alottment.
|
Mon. 5/30/11 10:53pm
Dan B:
@panda bear, couldn't agree more
|
Mon. 5/30/11 11:10pm
steve:
Heh...I saw the Cocteau Twins back in the day at the Danceteria. They were the most boring live act I ever saw in my over 40 years of seeing bands. It was all tape! They even outdid Todd Rundgren's Wizard tour (the Runt at least believed in audience participation). -s

I was sure I heard in "Eduj Yeh" some of the "a yuvva, yuvva" from "If I Were A Rich Man".
|
Mon. 5/30/11 11:42pm
Robert:
It makes me wonder...I you played "Nam Hcir A Erew I Fi", would it have lyrics in common with "Hey Jude"?
|
Mon. 5/30/11 11:42pm
Dan B:
@Robert, beetles are like that. They use cross-references like that to communicate to the other beetles where the good corpses are located. Like honeybees, only corpses instead of flowers.

@Hubert Heaver, I'm waiting for your youtube link...

such a beautiful song | |
|
Mon. 5/30/11 11:59pm
Ike:
Is it supposed to sound so goofy, or is the turntable still malfunctioning? It's not bad, but it kinda sounds like shopping mall keyboard store demo music from the early 80s. No disrespect to the great GSH. Every artist has... career low points.
|
Tue. 5/31/11 12:01am
Dan B:
@Giovanni, I tuba you tuba. @Yair Yona, yes, it is right? Too bad @Ike doesn't see it that way. Turntable fixed. Smooth jazz GSH is in marvelous full effect in both channels!!
|

Let's blame it on Arista.
