Listener comments!

  9:04am Jay/ London U.K:

good afternoon :0
  9:05am joe mac:

Greetings to all music lovers and to BB
  9:09am absolute_value:

morning y'all
  9:11am David:

GREAT start!
  9:12am ListenerBill:

R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron
  9:43am randy in NC:

They used to play a version of Hambone on a kids show in NY back in the late 60's. Maybe that was the version?
  9:47am imaginary number:

Where do they go, those smoke rings I blow each night?
  9:52am Jim Duffy:

Right on, on the morning bebop -- Dexter Gordon and Fats Navarro.
  9:52am Stefan:

Sandy Becker had a character named "Hambone!"
  9:53am Jay/ London U.K:

@ imaginary number there go all over the walls and floor of your place
  9:53am Jack:

The Sandy Becker show in NY late '60's had a character named Hambone. He'd dance and play the song.
  9:54am randy in NC:

@Stefan, thanks, that was it. The did the song too it seems, right?
  9:56am randy in NC:

The font of wisdom known as WFMU comes through again!
  10:04am Jack:

Bob, do you consider Roy Orbison an "operatic singer"?
  10:12am Jack:

Thanks Bob!
Norton Nork!! Wasn't he that crosseyed dummy that would lipsynch to "Mr. Bassman"?
  10:14am kit:

don't love this.
  10:17am Parq:

Kind of funny hearing "Here comes Traffic!" at the start of Meml Day weekend. And @Jack, right show wrong character; Norton Nork was Sandy Becker's hapless, wordless alter ego, who would set out do do something or other, and end up with the voiceover intoning "Norton Nork, you've done it again!" Don't know if the puppet had a name.
  10:21am Jack:

Parq, you right. thanks. I'm remembering now I think the dummy's name was "Rorschach". And while we're on the subject of 60's kids shows and music, do you recall Fred Hall and the Fred Hall Beatles?
  10:23am Parq:

Holy cow, the Fred Hall Beatles! I can't remember a single thing about Fred Hall except that!
  10:26am Jay/ London U.K:

love django reinhardt thanks for playing :)
  10:26am Abed:

Great stuff to hear on a Sunday morning. Thanks! Even that horrible Beach Boys song. Loved it.
  10:34am joe mac:

Amen Abed
  10:34am joe mac:

Amen Abed
  10:58am Robert:

Nork had a different role: miming a lesson to Becker's own "straight" narration.
