But of course it must be said, those catholic-school jumpers for the girls left psychic scars in many of us...
|
Wed. 6/1/11 9:22am
Parq:
My wife grew up Spanish Catholic in Hell's Kitchen, and she hss confirmed a lot of what Carlin described. Her best story involves the senior parish priest saying Mass, stretching his hands out to give a blessing, heedless of the cigar he was holding in one of them.

Shortly after Jean Shepherd did a bit on air about what movie prod'n is like, a pitch for an imaginary title, "Tentacles", the movie by that name actually came out.
|
Wed. 6/1/11 10:32am
Robert:
It made me wonder whether the phenomenon was a repeat of that of "I, Libertine".
|
Wed. 6/1/11 10:33am
Carmichael:
Good mornin' all. | |
|
Wed. 6/1/11 10:46am

|
Wed. 6/1/11 11:05am
Matt from Springfield:
Wow, not just soundtracks, you also can't do voiceovers like that anymore! How I love Rod Serling's skilled intros/outros to all the Twilight Zone episodes, and disappointed that audiences are too ADD to handle monologues nowadays.
|
Wed. 6/1/11 11:05am
Carmichael:
Aaah, The Invaders! What a great scary show for a kid. Roy Thinnes ....
|
Wed. 6/1/11 11:06am
Matt from Springfield:
@MK: Since I was talking to you about PIFs, check out the YouTube account of "Applemask" if you haven't discovered him. He's a guy from Cornwall, not much older than myself, and posts mostly PIFs (with some of the best commentary about them I've seen!)
|
Wed. 6/1/11 11:11am
john:
Matt-if you like monologues check out A Piece of Monologue by Beckett. There is a recording of it on a Scanner record although I don't recall which one.
|
Wed. 6/1/11 11:14am
Matt from Springfield:
@john: Samuel Beckett? I like him, and Lucky's Speech from "Waiting For Godot" is fantastic. I would probably enjoy Beckett delivering a monologue--thanks!
