|
Mon. 4/4/11 9:25pm
Dan B:
@12539, they took it from Black Sabbath's original name, but yeah.

Listening to Liturgy and the Dr Who theme at the same time. Not all that bad, actually,
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:33pm
A:
Now I'm doing that with the Dr. Who theme *in my mind*.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:36pm
Dan B:
Good idea Parq. | |
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:36pm
Dan B:
I think basically the Dr. Who theme goes with any part of my show any week, when it comes right down to it.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:44pm
Curm:
Excessive echo on chant recordings is really kitschy.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:47pm
Dan B:
@Curm, what echo? If only. I aspire to kitsch. I'd say this has been more kid-sch.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:51pm
Curm:
It must have been the Tsinindali Choir -- sounded like it was recorded at the bottom of a cave. It was impossible to hear the harmonies. Great show, by the way.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:54pm
Dan B:
@Curm, thanks -- just remember the playlist must at times be taken with a grain or so of salt.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 10:55pm
Dan B:
Actually, the piece at the end of that Georgian mess was the Tsinindali Choir without any ornamentation from your gormless DJ
|
Mon. 4/4/11 11:08pm
Parq:
Wait, Dan, did you just mention Russel Oberlin? He lives down the hall from us. Which was the piece that had him on it?
|
Mon. 4/4/11 11:14pm
Curm:
You might want to take a listen to Zedashe as well -- they use the traditional tunings that can sound dissonant to Western ears (zedashe.org).

Everything everyone has ever promised me I would like has sucked. NO PROMISES!

I am the god of f*ck | |
|
Mon. 4/4/11 11:22pm
Dan B:
@MM, well isn't that special? What's it like, I've always wondered. @Pete, it's something like you can lead a horse to water or maybe giving them enough rope, or was it catching more flies with honey? One of those, I think. @Curm, thanks for the suggestion, haven't heard of them before and will check it out.

I missed chakrulo!! Flip!I love that song.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 11:33pm
Dan B:
@Meli, there's always the archive -- it'll be up with clickable timelinks by 1 AM or so. Or come over -- I've got like 15 versions of it on record and CD at our place, we can listen to them all together. I can't get enough of it either!
|

Ike:
Sounding good. I love that new Low song. On first listen though, that album, as a whole, is not one of their stronger ones, but maybe I need to give it a few more tries to sink in.
|
Mon. 4/4/11 11:58pm
Ike:
Love Parts & Labor! Oh and as for reggae pirates, there's a long-standing one jamming FMU in Paterson too. Bastards. Too bad there isn't a Radio Batman out there to wreak vigilante havoc on the worst pirates. But then I guess a pirate Joker would appear too, to balance it out karmically, and jam EVERY station. So, never mind.

I know, but I would have liked to just have it happen, you know... But of course coming over and listening sounds like a great idea....<3
