Listener comments!

  9:43am
Cecile:

Wow, starting late?

Just poking my head in to say, have a great marr-a-thon Friday people. I'm tapped out, and I'll feel guilty if I listen and don't pledge.

I will, however, plug the hell out of the fundraiser on Twitter. @dowdydiva, all ya'll
  9:43am
Scott:

It begins!
  9:47am
Rick:

Great set list its been a while since I heard Tim Leary
  9:53am
Dale from North Dakota:

Tamar! Gosh, I've missed you! And good morning, Scott :-)
  10:04am
12539:

(Cecile, if anyone deserves to listen to Wfmu, it's people like you.)
  10:19am
Danne D:

Hi Scott and Tamar :)

I agree with Dale, we definitely miss having you on the air Tamar :)

@Cecile - the finale of JM in the AM tends to cut into the Friday morning show a bit - but of course they hit a HUGE number for the station. I think they topped $100k over the last day. You may see a little schedule slide today until it evens back out a bit.

@everyone The best way to make up for the lost time is to pledge for Scott now! 800-989-9368 :)
  10:19am
Danne D:

and I agree that Cecile is a total superstar :)
  10:21am
Tamar:

Hi Dale, thanks for pledging. You'll enjoy Scott's atmospheric premium. And hello listeners. More goodies to be offered, so stay tuned. Even if you're all pledged out, you can still listen (Cecile); you've done your duty. If you haven't pledged yet-- your duty beckons!
  10:41am
Scott:

Keep pledging, please!
  10:45am
kim:

thanks for the mouse info, i wondered...
  10:46am
BSI:

What it is!
Who has carrot cake?
Holy crap!
etc!
  10:47am
Danne D:

Well if the person can't adopt Tamar directly, perhaps they can adopt a different piece of the magic factory and then name it in honor of Tamar. How about that?
  10:53am
Jess Shambler:

Scott, Speers are doubling down for you this morning. My atmosphere is certainly drifting well. Thanks as usual!
  10:54am
Cecile:

THanks all. I also have the ancilliary excuse i need to get some damn work done! I should just take fundraiser time off...:D
  10:54am
Scott:

Thanks Jess and Shamblers!!!!
  10:55am
Pete Shambler:

Excited to get that premium! Looks great, Scott!!
  10:57am
Tamar:

Scott is officially up for adoption at wfmu.org/adopt. He's got the big picture (during this show) for The Long Rally. I have thrown myself into the adoption ring mysef, though there's no picture yet. To adopt either of us, go to wfmu.org/adopt and plunk down a credit-card Mouse of Today pledge ($365), following the instructions on the page.
  10:58am
BSI:

@Cecile: true enough. I did pledge yesterday but couldn't get anything done work-wise, the fabio/pigeon show was too hilarious to focus, yet couldn't turn away...
  11:03am
Richard C:

Pere Ubu - 30 years ahead of the game
  11:09am
Cecile:

I know, BSI. That's why I have to work harder today. That was genius.
  11:14am
Danne D:

Woohoo :) Hope Tamar gets adopted even with her being fashionably late to the adoption party :)

Marathon time is tough to work through 'tis true.
  11:16am
tomasz.:

hooray i won somethingggg, awesome

btw hi Scott & Tamar, and thanks.

hi also messageboarders. and glad you're back Cecile!
  11:17am
Danne D:

Congrats tomasz :) well earned :)
  11:19am
Pete Shambler:

WFMU rave pants. Necessary!
  11:19am
Danne D:

LOL - that's brilliant Tamar - WFMU running shorts :)

I honestly think I can go about 2 weeks or more and wear different WFMU gear each day.
  11:21am
holland oats:

fmu swag is a great barometer for recalling how long you've been a listener -- somewhere around here i have an issue of LCD!
  11:22am
Danne D:

I have an entire CD case filled with premiums I think :)

This pants thing has many possibilities - WFMU Parachute Pants anyone?
  11:23am
holland oats:

ken's balloon pants
  11:24am
Danne D:

Gates Mills is an "affluent" suburb of Cleveland
  11:25am
Danne D:

Glad to see them representing :) (even though I'm a Bengals fan)
  11:25am
marty:

it's in cleveland.....
  11:25am
holland oats:

a-fluent in ROCK
  11:26am
fred:

@Danne: Some people say I always wear a WFMU T-shirt, but that's a lie. I do have 26 of those, two hoodies, gloves, a scarf, a knit hat, a baseball cap, a bag and a few buttons.
  11:28am
pierre:

hello everybody
USBoobs

  11:29am
Mike East:

I loaned out a premium CD a few years ago to someone and never got it back. Needless to say I don't speak to that person anymore and I'm never letting my premiums out of my possession again. Worst part is, I don't think he even listened to it. pssh.
  11:32am
Danne D:

Idea for the folks who can afford it. If you're one of those multiple-premium pledging types you can request (via comments) more than 1 copy of the same premium - I actually plan to do this for one premium I want to give a copy of to my nephew.

So you can get a Scott premium, a Rich H premium and then another Scott premium for your klepto-friends :)
  11:36am
Dan B:

Hey Scott, keep it real in NJ!
  11:38am
Danne D:

http://wfmu.org/marathon/warehouse.php

Link to the Prize Warehouse.
I recommend : Tamar-Fixin Hole (2003) from the prize warehouse. I have a copy of this myself and it's an excellent cd.
  11:40am
zax:

Hey, does anybody know if the Marathon Radioland counter on the wfmu homepage is an actual real indicator of how much money has been collected so far?
  11:42am
fred:

I have it too and second the recommendation. And you get 7 DJ premiums too, a T-shirt, the glow-in-the-dark map of NJ, flash drive shock full of music from the FMA and a bottle-opener (my personal favorite)
  11:45am
Danne D:

Zax, I think there's perhaps a little lag as the tabulators get tabulating after shifts. But I think it's pretty close. And it's pledges that are tabulated (collections of course are different - though the redemption rate is very high)
  11:46am
dave:

that hototogisu disc is an absolute must-have. i'm tempted to pledge just to be in the running for a backup copy.
  11:49am
pierre:

@ fred : a 50 $ has been done : )
LONG LIVE THE FREEFORM !
  11:50am
zax:

That's pretty reassuring - seems like the MArathon might hit its goal with some extra effort. Mine is on its way!
  11:50am
fred:

Come on, give some work to the tabulators!
This is your last chance to get Scott's premium, and maybe the grand prize too!
  11:51am
fred:

@pierre: bien joué!
  11:55am
northguineahills:

Scott, your premium will be one of many I'll be receiving.
  11:56am
dave:

i can say with some authority that scott's grand prizes are life-changing items. i won one of last year's cecil taylor compendia, and i am now frequently invited to give the keynote address at international cecil taylor conferences and symposia. previously, i couldn't even SPELL "free jazz".
  11:57am
Scott:

Excellent! ----- and it's not available for too much longer - pledge now, friends!
  11:58am
Scott:

THanks, dave. Which reminds me of the show's official slogan "THE BEST JAZZ IN LIFE IS FREE" (cr. Listener Cecile)
  11:59am
pierre:

: )
i'll show off a lot with my "wfmu - Tim Biskup t shirt"
but i forgot to click for a soap and/or a sticker, do you think it can be fixed with a mail?
  12:01pm
fred:

@pierre: you'll get a form to confirm the swag selection in the mail in the coming weeks, you can fix that by returning it
  12:03pm
fred:

or you can also email Joe McGasko about it, but he might get a bit overwhelmed in the coming days
  12:08pm
pierre:

@ fred : thanks (i would have guessed that he could be busy, but that's a good thing, the more busy he is, the more pledges are on their way !) now the soap, or the sticker > tricky question…
  12:08pm
herb:

joe mcgasko overwhelmed? impossible - he's a roboton & doesn't sleep. -- anyway, me repititiously repeat this deja vu'y remark that when we send our pledges in, let's TRY and include an extra ONE PERCENT. the dollars add up and before you know it, WFMU just might pull in $1.3million!!!
  12:17pm
Scott:

Pledge, oh my god, pledge!
  12:18pm
dave:

I'm pledgin' like a pledgin' thing.
