Sun. 3/6/11 10:06pm
Danne D:
that's literally true. One other similar station has a budget of like 5-6m at least. One of the large public ones has a budget like 40-50 times of FMU.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 10:08pm
Danne D:
not to be confused with RATT of Evan Funk Davies fame :) Are Martha or John singing next week?
|
Sun. 3/6/11 10:09pm

Sun. 3/6/11 10:20pm
Danne D:
hopefully the momentum is still going for Martha. She's playing a LOT of music for a marathon show, people. Make sure you show her the love with pledges. Btw, ya gotta love FMU - the easy thing to do would be to have like, what a handful of standard items as premiums for pledging, get 'em shipped out from some warehouse without actually going to the station and be done with it. Instead FMU (with the generosity of the various labels, artists, publishes, etc) offer the most incredible assortment of prizes. The prize lists being tailored to fit the shows of their dozens of DJs, each of whom have their own unique premium. So basically, the mailing process is an incredible undertaking - but FMU does it to show respect and love to the listeners and do it up the hard way.

Sun. 3/6/11 10:31pm
dave:
"love is a stream" is one of the roughly bazillion things i bought this year 'cause of martha's show. there are a whole mess of indie labels out there that ought to be matching my pledge.

Jason from Wellington:
Hey, just discovered you guys. Nice to see a NZ track there by the Gordons. May my workplace firewall continue to fail blocking WFMU!

Danne D:
careful where you play the Amanda in these other countries hamburger ;o) Coalhard is a good metal name, don't ya think? (that name's already taken though)
|
Sun. 3/6/11 10:40pm
dave:
metal name algorithm: two words. first name is any name ending in a vowel, second name a term related to meat, the process of producing meat, or some form meat can take. ex: Johnny Butcher Betty Chunks Jane Gravy Dave Bacon

Shane:
Some of us internet pledgers are Tristate outcasts who started on 91.1! Super privileged to have the streams and apps available to us.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 10:53pm
dave:
yeah, to expand a bit on what danne d said: it's just amazing that the big commercial and public radio stations, with budgets well north of an order of magnitude bigger than FMU's, still have nothing like FMU's streams, blog, archive, and apps.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:04pm
Shane:
And yes, the amount of music you're playing tonight is "yes, great" and exactly the reason I was compelled to go "overbudget" for the 'thon! TY!
|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:11pm
shana:
You continue to rock Martha! Looking forward to the groovy tunes.

Adam from Lynnwood, Washington:
Great show! There must be at least one wildly entertaining potential book made up of stories recounting the Motorschool period.

|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:44pm
Danne D:
Great version of this song. (Of course the singer's no Rich Hazleton :) ) Still can't believe how much Bryce killed the drum part on this song last year at the Hoof n Mouth.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:46pm
Adam from Lynnwood, Washington:
Bryce played his hair off.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:47pm
Danne D:
lol Adam. Including the Hoof N Mouth, by my count there are 7 different acts that have played 21st Century Schizoid Man that have been played on WFMU.
|
Sun. 3/6/11 11:47pm
Danne D:
That's approximately 7 more versions than played on z-100
