Hello out there. | |
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:15pm
Noel in DC:
Hi Dan. Loving your show as always.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:16pm
Dan B:
@Noel, thanks -- what's good on radio in DC?
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:16pm
steve:
hello dan! | |
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:20pm
Noel in DC:
Good question. There is, to my knowledge, very little good on radio in DC. There is a very small local station, but their broadcasts are very hard to pick up.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:21pm
Noel in DC:
Sorry, I meant to write that there is a very small local station that I like to listen to, but their broadcasts are hard to pick up.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:25pm
Noel in DC:
So, is it Valentine's Day or SAD--Singles Appreciation Day? Both?
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:26pm
Marmalade Kitty:
Hi, enjoying the show, cool set! Just what I neeed after scary D. Emory research!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:29pm
Christine:
Swans was the best show I saw in 2010--hope they do another soon. Positively apocalyptic.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:29pm
Dan B:
@Steve, Marmalade Kitty, nice to have you along. Glad to clear the air of the ghost of Martin Bohrmann -- sometimes I think my head's going to explode as I'm preparing for my show to the dulcet tones of DE's voice! @Noel, both.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:31pm
Sean:
Christine, I'm seeing Swans this Friday. Thanks for reminding me.

mark b:
hi bodah! nice to hear you.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:32pm
Dan B:
I have to admit to mixed feelings about playing Arcade Fire after Swans. Swans totally should have won that Grammy last night!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:33pm
steve:
haha... agreed | |
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:34pm
david in denver:

Hi all. Nice set Dan. Arcade Fire the new Mindie (mainstream indie)
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:40pm
Marmalade Kitty:
I thought the track by the swans sounded kind of stooges-esque
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:42pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Mon. 2/14/11 9:45pm
Marmalade Kitty:
Sell your granny for a grammy!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:46pm
steve:
geez... look what i started! i think we all recognize the basic lameness of the grammys here...
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:54pm
mark b:
what are..."grammys?" mother of mother?
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:55pm
Marmalade Kitty:
used to have an old 60's gramophone record player as a teenager, the sound was tremendous! especially the bass.. my poor mum couldn't stand it! She disposed of it one day while I was out..
|
Mon. 2/14/11 9:58pm
mark b:
open yr inner grammy! | |
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:01pm
Dan B:
Antigrammithon going on here...it's like Tetragrammaton, but packs slightly less megatons and simply attacks the existence of Katy Perry. Any requests for Teenage Dream, by the way? They keep the radio tuned to a station at my physical therapist's office that plays that fucking thing every time I'm in there!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:05pm
Richard from Venezuela:
Like Steffen Basho-Junghans. Beautiful acoustic music by Brethren of the Free Spirit. I dont knew it. Thanks for sharing.

Mon. 2/14/11 10:07pm
Richard from Venezuela:
Sorry. Didn't. My mistake.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:07pm
Noel in DC:
Agreed, Mark. The Brethren are quite swellegant.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:07pm
Dan B:
Brethren of the Free Spirit = 2 records from James Blackshaw and Jozef Van Wissem -- both awesome in their own rights, too.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:12pm
Woody:
I think the Brethren project is fini... Dan, maybe you could get wacky with the reverb/turntable on the Danzig version of Am I Demon? :)
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:12pm
Richard from Venezuela:
This Aarktica song after. written to check it later. didn't knew them too. Awesome track..
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:15pm
Dan B:
The Aarktica is a Danzig tune, originally. Yeah, I should take it on Woody.
|

A resident of Troy, NY also wishes greetings...and appreciation...for the DJ tonight. A fine series of segues!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:38pm
Dan B:
@Damien, I drove through Troy today. What's it like? My great grandmother used to work in a shirt factory there. Post-textile industry town? What goes on there now?
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:41pm
Woody:
The new performance space/tech art center called EMPAC at RPI is pretty friggin' awesome. Rooms with crazy architecture to give insanely low noise floors, bajillion lumens projectors, etc etc.... tech art nerds paradise!
|

?:
I am listener # 125049. Ooops, was that supposed to be a secret?
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:41pm
Damien:
Troy has something of a pulse, but there is plenty of room for improvement. RPI keeps the town afloat. Cool Old rowhouses, warehouses, etc., but lots of poverty and despair, too. Rent is cheap! All I need is an FMU repeater!
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:42pm
steve:
didn't the Casperelectronics DIY synth/circuit bender guy start something in Troy recently? can't remember his name.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:43pm

Mon. 2/14/11 10:56pm
Dan B:
@Damien, holy coincidences
|
Mon. 2/14/11 10:58pm
Damien:
I just hope I don't see Martin Bormann anytime soon.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 11:03pm

dan in Falls Church VA:
I'm posting from that alternate universe, in which "Waterloo Sunset" took up an entire album side at 17 minutes and really sucked. Believe me, you guys over in your universe are lucky, that's why I stream my audio from it.

The man talking over the lovely piano music needs antidepressants.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 11:31pm
david in denver:
iwas just reading about sleazy and john balance.
|
Mon. 2/14/11 11:33pm
Dan B:
@fleep, not sure antidepressants would do much about the end of the world. I don't think he's unhappy about it, either, just exploring. @david, I did a special on Sleazy's music -- check the archives, a couple of months back.
