There's a great bill Saturday night in Bushwick: The Electric Mess and The Above, with Quitty and the Dont's, and Amanda Otto from REACTION! is DJ'ing - it's a Black and White Valentine Ball so dress in B/W - 142 Manhattan Avenue (b/w Montrose & Meserole); off L Montrose Stop - It's a private party, but if you're not a PSYCHO, feel free to stop by and hear some great music. Party starts around 9:00 but bands go on around 10:00 or later... Quitty, Above, Mess is the order.
Thanks, Joe!

Rob W:
Jam Messengers sounded great. And I agree with Rob K about New Orleans - we were just there and amazed at how many young musicians are playing night and day in the bars on Frenchmen St, the streets and all around - it's really become a magnet for kids who are into New Orleans and Cajun traditions and also generally old-time music, the jazz age, blues, etc.
Thu. 2/10/11 1:05pm
Joe B:
thanks for the hookup Rob!
Thu. 2/10/11 1:11pm

ronnie hawkins is kinda like the john mayall of canada. a lot of great musicians in his bands over the years.
Thu. 2/10/11 1:12pm
Parq:
That was the thing I dug most about n'Awlins last time I was there -- even on touristy Bourbon Street, the variety of musical styles and genres coming out of the various bars was amazing.

Joe, nice job digging out some Polonsky! Too bad the dude gave up his career of lo-fi power pop obscurity. Last seen playing guitar for Pete Yorn.
