Good Morning Jason! What was that opening lead-in music... I've heard it before? It was tickling my early morning caffeinated mind-clutter in the most pleasing way... thanks.

Yes, Marmalade Kitty, it might have been a track I have on my disc of 'bed' music by Miles Davis from Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud...

That's Nova Scotia, Canada, Jason... Atlantic Time Zone. Didn't sound Miles-ish to me, but I'm no expert.

You are in the Eastern Time Zone... you are one hour earlier... I confess: I'd like to call myself a native Canadian, but alas, I am from Glen Ridge, NJ, class of 1982... you wouldn't believe how few SUV's there are here. I say this having just spent 2 weeks in NJ after an absence of nearly 2 years. Gas is C$1.17 per liter, which translates to US$4.50 per gallon. Fun Fact: In 2008, 19% of all imported crude oil came from Canada (1st place) followed by Saudi Arabia at 10.5% (2nd place). Much of Canada's petroleum industry is in Alberta, where there is an ever evolving environmental catastrophe known as the Alberta Tar Sands.

mike:
I also have trouble listening to that show live because I am based in the UK and like you I listen to it on the archive. Did you hear the last sinners crossroads of 2010? It some great re-issue stuff - ie Rev. Johnny Hurricane Jones. Apologies Jason for discussing another show on your listener comments page.

In San Francisco in the late 70's (where this band was from) I definitely heard the term "politically correct." I wish there were more Noh Mercy recordings....
|
Fri. 1/14/11 8:35am
DF:
Maybe the Bay Area is where the term originated, come to think of it
|
Fri. 1/14/11 8:37am
annie:
wow, mike..... i have to pull that out of the data base of my brain.. they have pretty much destroyed almost all bluegrass programming on that station.. stinks, in my opinion..i'll find out..

Brian C.:
I first remember hearing the term "politically incorrect" when it was used to describe why someone got kicked out of the Gang of Four. (Dave maybe?) Didn't it originate with china to describe Chang Kai Shek (sp?)
