@Rick, a little of the ol' MPX100 echo chamber in there as well, and another copy of the recording forward for a while...a nice Christmas tradition around here.

Pete:
Fun show! Dan, Optigan's are a little different from Mellotrons. The latter use strips of pre-recorded audiotape for each note; the former use one of a variety of pre-recorded optical discs for all of the notes across the keyboard. Apologies to any Optigan experts if I've mischaracterized this weirdly amazing instrument (originally patented by a Mattel subsidiary in '71).
|
Mon. 12/20/10 10:09pm
my dad vs yours:
Mellotrons are rad! | |

Mon. 12/20/10 10:26pm
Dan B:
@Penelope, hi you! @MDVS, I concur re: mellotrons, but the Optigan is just so much weirder, isn't it? @Pete, thanks for the info.

Dan B:
OK, who's loving this Susan Alcorn as Christmas music? Did everyone stop listening? (Seems to happen sometimes when I play stuff I really love...)
|
Mon. 12/20/10 10:42pm
Rick:
I like this Susan Alcorn track. It sounds very different from Loren MazzaCane, but there;s a common sound too,
|
Mon. 12/20/10 10:44pm
Dan B:
@Rick, yeah, there's definitely a MazzaCaney sensibility to this one.
|

...and all the tortured souls said: A-MEN!
|
Mon. 12/20/10 11:09pm

Can we go back to the Susan Alcorn?

Mon. 12/20/10 11:10pm
Dan B:
@Kat, I'll turn on the Alcorn-izer now....

hey dan, last week i said rory gallagher instead of roy buchannon for a n. young cover. Bad Choice. jim o'rourke's "women of the world take over" is resplendent, but Ivor didn't write it. Nor, I think were It Phylliss King, but a lovely lively cover nontheless!
