You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Listener comments!

  Mon. 12/20/10 9:05pm Rick:

Is this just backwards? It sounds so good!
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:10pm Dan B:

@Rick, a little of the ol' MPX100 echo chamber in there as well, and another copy of the recording forward for a while...a nice Christmas tradition around here.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:11pm Tom L:

Dan, Life has been nuts lately. Hope all is well. Have some exciting news that will be announced tomorrow...
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:12pm Dan B:

@Tom, nice to see you! Can't wait to hear the news...care to share with the class? Or email me.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:13pm grifter:

Ra-pa-pa-papom!!!?
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:14pm Tom L:

OK, but just between us: http://www.hundredacrerecordings.com/hallock-hill-the-union.

Will be released early 2011.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:16pm Dan B:

@Tom...and the entire interwebz! Great news, can't wait to hear it. Congrats!
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:18pm Rick:

Hi Tom L! I heard Dan play a Hallock Hill track a few weeks ago and thought it was awesome! Glad to hear there's something new coming out!
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:20pm Kat:

this is the first recording of Little Drummer Boy I have heard in my entire life that I don't hate.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:20pm Tom L:

@ Dab B and @Rick Many, may thanks.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:25pm Tom L:

This is incredible. My son made me a rubber band guitar as a present a few years ago. Love that thing.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:30pm Rick:

Sad to hear about losing the Captain. Didn't hear until Scott's show this afternoon.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:34pm mark bodah:

hey bodart. did you get my links to this years xmas album?
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:36pm Dan B:

@Tom, nice gift. @Rick, yeah, terrible news -- poor Beefheart. @Marko Bodo, I did see links, but I'm not signed up with Dropbox yet -- do I have to be? If there's a public link, put it up here.
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:39pm mark bodah:

no you don't. here's Kissing Santa http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5292212/I_Saw_Mommy_Kissing_Santa_Claus.mp3 fwiw!

  Mon. 12/20/10 9:47pm mark bodah:

tha sounded so wrong...
  Mon. 12/20/10 9:52pm Rick:

This really is one the best Christmas albums. Melancoly but real.
Mon. 12/20/10 10:03pm my dad vs yours:

Nice Xmas mixin'!
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:04pm Pete:

Fun show! Dan, Optigan's are a little different from Mellotrons. The latter use strips of pre-recorded audiotape for each note; the former use one of a variety of pre-recorded optical discs for all of the notes across the keyboard. Apologies to any Optigan experts if I've mischaracterized this weirdly amazing instrument (originally patented by a Mattel subsidiary in '71).
Mon. 12/20/10 10:09pm my dad vs yours:

Mellotrons are rad!
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:23pm penelope:

heya dan!
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:26pm Dan B:

@Penelope, hi you! @MDVS, I concur re: mellotrons, but the Optigan is just so much weirder, isn't it? @Pete, thanks for the info.
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:30pm mark bodah:

thanks dan-o! old men must sleep now.
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:31pm Dan B:

@MB, make sure to remember to take your teeth out before you turn in, old codger.
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:41pm Dan B:

OK, who's loving this Susan Alcorn as Christmas music? Did everyone stop listening? (Seems to happen sometimes when I play stuff I really love...)
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:42pm Rick:

I like this Susan Alcorn track. It sounds very different from Loren MazzaCane, but there;s a common sound too,
  Mon. 12/20/10 10:44pm Dan B:

@Rick, yeah, there's definitely a MazzaCaney sensibility to this one.
  Mon. 12/20/10 11:05pm Moe:

...and all the tortured souls said: A-MEN!
  Mon. 12/20/10 11:09pm Kat:

Can we go back to the Susan Alcorn?
  Mon. 12/20/10 11:10pm Dan B:

@Kat, I'll turn on the Alcorn-izer now....
  Mon. 12/20/10 11:13pm Kat:

HAHAHAHAHA
  Mon. 12/20/10 11:14pm Rick:

hey dan, last week i said rory gallagher instead of roy buchannon for a n. young cover. Bad Choice. jim o'rourke's "women of the world take over" is resplendent, but Ivor didn't write it. Nor, I think were It Phylliss King, but a lovely lively cover nontheless!

  Mon. 12/20/10 11:56pm Ike:
