Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from November 23, 2010 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

jj moth:

  3:04pm
Cecile:

digging the drone
  3:06pm
CheriPi:

How long must we wait to hear some Kramer Daniels.
  3:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Afternoon everyone!
  3:09pm
DTB:

When's this International Harvester from? Love it!
  3:12pm
DTB:

Just looked it up: 1969. Wow. Going to keep my eyes open for that. Hey everyone.
  3:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks DTB. I wouldn't have thought it was that long ago!
  3:14pm
Chris from DC:

Yeah, get that one asap, DTB. Brilliant record.
  3:15pm
BSI:

has a similar vibe of awesome reckless abandon as that earliest Amon Duul material (psychedelic underground LP), similar timeframe...
  3:19pm
CheriPi:

BT-A stunning opening set!
  3:20pm
Cecile:

I gotta jet. I'm in a rare mood where loud noises aren't soothing me.

Happy Turkey-Day everyone!
  3:20pm
DTB:

This reminds me of Drunkdriver, only 24 years before them. I love these songs BT plays that sound like an argument/murder next door.
  3:26pm
BT:

Döden
  3:27pm
DTB:

I'm not going to comment on every track, promise - but when I downloaded SAT Stoicizmo from the 365 Days Project, I haven't played it for a person since who didn't as me to turn 'em off on pain of a mild beating.
  3:34pm
Matt from Springfield:

365 Days Project? This SAT is too good for that! Isn't the 365 Days Project more for "incorrect" music---or are you perhaps thinking of the Free Music Archive at this site?
  3:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this was a 365 track! (Sep 8 2007) The 2007 edition is the one with multiple MP3s each day, and I suppose a much wider variety of music.

AND, I bet you all didn't know SAT Stoicizmo was an important part of the Croatian futurist scene in the 80s!
  3:39pm
DTB:

http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/365_days_project/page/6/ - halfway down, Mah 2!
  3:40pm
DTB:

Also, that song was called 'Nehaj' and it absolutely ruled.
  3:42pm
BT:

Kramer Daniels is a lady/dog killer, Cheri.
  3:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

I find Servile Sect's label name, "Ecstatic Peace", goes perfectly with this guitar haze I'm hearing!
  4:04pm
DTB:

GIMME PIZZA!

(the line 'Whipped Cream Pouring Like Waterfalls' in the video of this is PURE filth)
  4:04pm
BZ:

Ecstatic Pizza
  4:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bronwyn and Jay were also playing the Olsen Twins at half speed! Thanks for the YT link Brian!
  4:06pm
joe d:

sounding not unlike a biz markie song
  4:06pm
C Pizzle:

The best song of our generation.
  4:18pm
CheriPi:

Is it true that the Pizza there is made on Wonderbread?
  4:20pm
DTB:

Dang this Revello's looks great except for one thing: no disco fries.
  4:20pm
lane:

I'll come back in a few minutes and see what up :)
  4:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

Brian Eno was glam at one point!

I just returned from Thailand after vacation--I played at least one track from "Music for Airports" in all 6 Airports I passed through around the world!
  4:30pm
Julie from Philly:

Killer show!
  4:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

Love this Algebra Suicide track! Twice this week!
  4:41pm
tim:

Cool. I've never heard Algebra Suicice. Plastic Crimewave featured Algebra Suicide in a recent Secret History of Chicago Music column.
  4:42pm
Kat:

minor correction: Mannequin Men track was "Hobby Girl" not "See Saw" - great to hear that & Algebra Suicide - Chicago in the house
  4:43pm
BT:

whoops, thanx Kat.
  4:46pm
Marty Snrub:

first time listener. I can't believe i've been missing out on this station.
  4:53pm
BT:

Hey Marty, welcome to the pool
  4:59pm
DTB:

Was looking for appropriate Edinburgh shows for you BT. I found one with a very WFMU type name - RODENT EMPORIUM - sadly they're not very good.
  5:01pm
BT:

Haha, sounded promising! Listener Stanley gave me some good suggests too...
  5:02pm
OM:

really digging this sound.
  5:03pm
DTB:

The best show in Scotland during the time you're over is happening on the first day of ATP (Action Beat in Glasgow at the 13th Note). They're on tour at that time, BT, I think you'd approve - 4 guitars/3 drums no wave smashfest.
  5:04pm
BT:

ah shoot, wont be up there til the 5th or 6th....
  5:11pm
DanO:

*sigh*... Ingrid Pitt died today.
  5:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Like a Dutch Pink Floyd/Syd Barrett, very lovely.
  5:25pm
c:

This reminds me of the movie De komst van Joachim Stiller (seems it's the main actor's voice).
  5:35pm
Pontius Pilate:

Great Boudewijn de Groot track.
  5:39pm
DTB:

Checking out now BT, but it's been a pleasant 158 minutes up to now. Have a great time in the UK. Bring a heavy jacket!
  5:40pm
BT:

Grazie DBT!
  5:40pm
Martha:

Very much enjoying the bard-ship today -
  5:41pm
Matt from Springfield:

Terry Reid's making Cher look like a great songwriter right now!
  5:56pm

Fantastic set BT, thanks!
  5:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Have a great time in the UK, Brian!
  5:58pm
BT:

  6:00pm
Mark from Nashville::

Homemade corn from down on the farm makes a boy do things he shouldn't do!
