You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Mon. 11/1/10 9:18pm Dan B:

Good evening all...who's got some hated records to submit for my upcoming "smashing records" show? any format will do. Let me know and I'll make arrangements to get the records from you.
  Mon. 11/1/10 9:27pm Rick:

The Siam stuff was awesome, and I like the '64-'75 window. WOW!
  Mon. 11/1/10 9:30pm Rick:

It's a gifted LP.
  Mon. 11/1/10 9:38pm Woody:

smash Hall & Oates?!? Nooo! I can't go for that, no I, can't go for that...
  Mon. 11/1/10 9:54pm Rick:

Early Hall & Oates are better than you'd think. Part of time-place-sound
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:20pm Rick:

Zombie expert.... why not?
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:25pm bryce:

there were custom cassingle kiosks, where you would punch up a number, jukestyle, and your cassingle would be dubbed for you, complete with thermal dot matrix printer cassette shell printing. i have a billy cobham cassingle thusly.

it awaits your just pestle.
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:26pm bryce:

kustom kassingle kiosks
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:27pm Rick:

@Bryce: where & when was this?
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:30pm MARC:

is there something wrong with the FM sigmal? its staticy.
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:31pm bryce:

oh shit, er.....morris county? very late 80s, maybe '90l.

BILLY COBHAM!!!!!!!!! is he a scientologist already?
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:36pm Rick:

I'm all about Morris County, just super-slow on the up-take. missed the cassingle-wrangle.
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:38pm JT:

@MARC, I don't think it's the FM signal, the internet seems to be static ridden as well. either that or i'm listening to a shortwave radio recording of a naval convoy from inside the engine room.
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:41pm Rick:

@JT&Marc- 90.1 still sounds OK
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:44pm Rick:

Kenny G Would let it ride!!!
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:46pm Maria Sputnik:

"hey, what's that noise?"
"i'm putting on wfmu. dan's on the air. i think they're having a technical difficulty."
"that's what they always say when dan's on the air!"
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:49pm Rick:

If the signal went out but distorted by transmission problems, would dan be offended?
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:50pm JT:

i think the sound is just fine. it was probably the hole in my skull enabling me to hear another dimension of sound normally curled up so tightly you can't detect it with normal instruments.
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:53pm MARC:

You're loud and clear DAN! =)
  Mon. 11/1/10 10:54pm Rick:

Dan you are the best
  Mon. 11/1/10 11:10pm Rick:

Hey Dan I have super-dusty and cat-haired cassette: 1992, DR DRE: The Chronic. If I Send in sealed baggy, leave in baggy while destroying.
  Mon. 11/1/10 11:17pm Dan B:

Thanks for the static warnings/debate/analysis. I rely on y'all for this kinda info, seriously. @Rick, I will promise to smash the Chronic cassette in the intact bag if you send it in -- I'm emailing my address separately. @Bryce, we are all Scientologists already, we just haven't discovered yet how much we owe them for our various inspirations and epiphanies.
  Mon. 11/1/10 11:35pm Maria Sputnik:

All I have for smashing are terrible mp3s. Maybe you could run a magnet over them, but the borg is undestroyable.
  Mon. 11/1/10 11:35pm Rick:

Staticy old school navigation sounds are the most soothing to me.
  Mon. 11/1/10 11:39pm Dan B:

@Maria, what if you submit them on a cheap-o data key and I smash that? Or burn them to CD? We'll have to ponder the dilemma of how to destroy the immaterial mp3...but I have faith that it is a problem with a solution and that we are the hive mind to come up with it!!
