  12:13am
bill the free form wanna be gimp motherfucker:

just listening to fmu and free jazz records at the same time
  12:15am
Looms:

Nice sounds. Saying hello (it's been a while) before going to bed.
  12:16am
Sue:

Hola Joe!
  12:18am
Joe McG:

Hey, Bill, sounds like a pretty FMU idea to me. Hey, Looms! Nice to see you on the night shift. Hola hula, Sue Sue!
  12:21am
Looms:

That's because time change has just happened here. See you, have a good one y'all!
  12:22am
Joe McG:

Have a good change, Looms!
  12:49am
MS:

Saturday, November 13th, 11am - 1pm: Chip Taylor on WFMU!
  12:51am
Joe McG:

You took the words right out of my mouth, MS! I'm going to talk about that on the next mic break. Very excited for it!
  1:15am
coalhard:

i'm having a spicoli moment--i'm late for class-(but have been listening)--joe must be a teacher or professor--he has that quality!!
  1:15am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe! Great tribute to Gregory Isaacs, I'm impressed so many DJs have honored him the past week.
  1:17am
crapped-in speed fart:

getting all niced up with gregory-seen!
  1:18am
Joe McG:

Hey, coalhard and Matt! Hey CISF! Dig the Gregory audience singing his song for him! (All ladies!)
  1:23am
Matt from Springfield:

I was in DC for most of today--I was at the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rally, and stuck around to see the musical "Hair"!

(Do you have any "Hair" songs sitting around tonight? Preferably one of the more obscure ones like "Manchester England" or "What a piece of work is man"?
  1:25am
Joe McG:

How was the rally? Was it fun? (I can bring my copy of "Don Kirschner Cuts Hair" next week if you like!)
  1:26am
coalhard:

i watched that rally on internet---WOW--had great time--thank you for attending everyone!!
  1:28am
Matt from Springfield:

It was very fun, in fact unless you were pretty close to stage it was hard to make out parts of the content, but it was essentially a carnival for smart people! We had awesome and funny signs, chatted amongst ourselves, it was great! I'll just have to look on the Internet to see what exactly I was at!
  1:31am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: I know the Cowsills did a full length version of "Hair" besides the single you usually hear; I finally got to see that performed on stage (the one that begins "She asks me why / I'm just a hairy guy").
  1:34am
Joe McG:

Oh yeah, the Cowsills actually had their biggest hit with that song, which was ironic since they were so clean cut. I love those guys.
  1:36am
crapped-in speed fart:

this is the first time i've tuned in on a saturday night and i must say it's making me feel a whole lot better about staying in...
one thing though-can you make the math question a little easier.
  1:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Have you heard the Cowsills radio ad for Milk? Bob Brainen put that on his DJ premium this year.

Is this the theme to the '76 remake of "King Kong"? Wow, Dino de Laurentiis, robotic Kong AND Disco! I can't understand why that film hasn't stood the test of time!
  1:37am
coalhard:

joe done opened up a can of worms--made me think of THE MONKEYS
  1:39am
Matt from Springfield:

@speed fart: Frequently the number adds up to 666, particularly on Brian Turner's show (in my experience). Perhaps each DJ should establish a number theme, and every problem is answered by that number!
  1:39am
Joe McG:

I can't control the math thing, CSF, sorry! Bob is the greatest, Matt. Yep, it's the theme to THAT "King Kong."
  1:40am
coalhard:

MONKEES
  1:42am
Joe McG:

Love them, too!
  1:44am
coalhard:

was not a request--was just a burp in evolutionary tree on a limb of wfmu tree
  1:46am
Joe McG:

I'll probably play this record later at the right speed since it's so cool, but I wanted to hear it this way first...
  1:47am
D. Blumin:

This solo is kickin no matter what speed you put it thru, McGasko!
  1:47am
crapped-in speed fart:

@ matt...why am i not so surprised by that...?
especially on this particular day..
  1:48am
Matt from Springfield:

What?! I had no idea this was a wrong speed! This is great 70s prog rock whenever and whatever it was recorded as! BUZZKILL!
  1:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@CISF: Woooowowoowooooo! Halloweeeeeen! Zombies and vampires!
  1:53am
Matt from Springfield:

After someone commented they used to play the "10th Avenue Freeze Out" single at 33 speed and say it was "an old Stax record", I tried that--I like it! "Dancing In The Dark" is likewise great at 33!
  1:53am
coalhard:

did you know if you hold your tounge and say WFMU--makes cool zombie sound
  1:54am
Joe McG:

Ha ha ha! I like "Sign O the Times" at 33. Haven't played it yet, though. Maybe next week. I'll have to try the Springer tunes.
  2:02am
Sue:

***Happy Halloween!!!***
  2:08am
Matt from Springfield:

Great spot on CO--don't keep generators or any internal combustion engine under any shelter which you live! My parents keep a generator outside by the A/C, and before that in a shed which no one ever occupies.
  2:09am
crapped-in speed fart:

white lines is really good at 33,but i guess it makes it a bit more angel dust-y
  2:09am
Joe McG:

Now that's proper generator etiquette, Matt! Well done to your folks!
  2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

@CISF: Grandmaster Mel's "White Lines"? It's already kind of slow and bass-heavy. I guess even more so, and scary, slowed down.
@Joe: Glad you're spreading the word!
At regular speed, this is like half World Music, half Prog.
  2:15am
Joe McG:

Thanks, Matt, that record is great at any speed!
  2:18am
crapped-in speed fart:

yes matt.extremely sinister..
  2:19am
Matt from Springfield:

Whoa, getting into Golden Throats Territory here! (I like!)
  2:19am
Joe McG:

Mos def!
  2:20am
steveroo:

  2:22am
Joe McG:

  2:23am
steveroo:

  2:24am
coalhard:

  2:25am
steveroo:

  2:27am

  2:29am

  2:50am
Joe McG:

Thanks, Joe D.!
  2:58am
Matt from Springfield:

So danco samba! I blame the nice conclusion on the Bossa Nova!
Great show Joe! Have a good night everyone!
  3:25pm
Rob Dunsford:

Hi Joe - thanks very much for playing "Two Girls" the other night. I must confess I only found you because I was doing some ego-surfing. If you'd like me to send you another CD with some of my own material on I'd be only too happy to oblige. Just email me a postal address. Cheers! Rob
  1:29pm
Sue:

in case you're interested, i noticed you hadn't filled in the album yet for the Disassembler track. it should be off of the "Various - Newcastle Sampler" compilation album: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Newcastle-Sampler/master/103686
